Vol, My eyes must have been playing tricks on me as I felt sure that I saw you wearing blue and sitting with the McCallie folks.

What's Goin' On With Oak Ridge Football Off Season
cbg replied to Cactus Jack's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Oak Ridge should win 7 or 8 game every year due to their schedule being weak. Before you jump on me ask yourself just how difficult is their region schedule and non-region games? -
Rabbitt, Let him be a joke! He is winning and flying under the radar now without any pressure! No one cares what you do in December, it's what you do the 3rd weekend in February that people remember.

I could see Page as being the same as Ravenwood in 5-10 years. It will be the last area in Southern Williamson County to grow. Thousands of farm acres today will be subdivisions in the future.

Where does the money go? The gate receipts are down close to 50% from when we had 5 classifications, expenses have increased (we now have 8 classifications) and in past years Spring Fling was very profitable for the TSSAA. The TSSAA member schools need to take a close look at the finances and force some changes to be made. If the TSSAA would do the following things they could begin to turn the ugly financials around in short order: 1. Place D1 & D2 back together and have 4 classifications in football, basketball, and baseball. The "MERIT SYSTEM" must be used so that everyone is treated fairly. 2. Move the games out of Murfreesboro and play the 1A & 2A games at MBA. It's a great facility and could handle those two divisions. Work (pray) on using Vanderbilt for the 3A and 4A games. 3. Spring Fling needs to be in Chattanooga or Nashville. Chattanooga did a great job and the TSSAA made money. 4. Womens basketball should stay in Murfreesboro but the mens tournament should move to Vanderbilt. The crowds in Murfreesboro are no longer supporting the mens teams so go back to what once worked. 5. All individual sports (cross country, track, wrestling, tennis, etc...) should only have one division. The last thing that needs to happen is for BA not to kill the TSSAA with legal fees as they will hurt all of the member schools.

Wilson Central would not be too far from Smyrna. Baylor & McCallie would also be a good game for you but the gate would be small due to the travel. Ensworth and Ricky Bowers should be better next season and very good in 2009.

Other than making financial donations and doing a camp every year it would be hard for Weathers to have the time to worry about high school athletics. After he retires he make want to give them some of his time but until then he is trying to make as much $$$$$$$$$$$$ as possible to take care of his family.

As of a couple of years ago they were not all the same. I am not sure when everyone has to have a program in place. You will see less weight cutting if you follow the Tennessee program.
-
It seems as if each state has their own weight management program and some are more difficult than others. Tennessee has a very difficult program that was a pilot program. Will the national federation write a comprehensive weight management program for all 50 states?

Whats wrong with total public/private split?
cbg replied to mphstigerfan's topic in Public-Private Debate
Both public and private schools recruit. What about the person that is from out of town and is looking for a new home and the relator directs them to the school zone for private school with the best football program. This my friends has been happening for many years. -
Yes his comments probably were not what they should have been but what he said may have been true. I don't see some of the public school people like yourself ever casting a vote for the D1 & D2 schools being placed back together. The problem is that some of the people are not for what is fair for the group, they are only looking out for their school and trying to gain every advantage possible. We all know that Tennessee's state tournament series is very weak now compared to before the split.

Balor School for Boys and Girls loses one to The McCallie school for b
cbg replied to bear cat brown's topic in Wrestling Mat
Look I am not saying anything about the kid or his parents. But from the way that the kid wrestled in the McCallie Tournament as an 8th grader I feel quite confident that the kid dosen't need someone like yourself to protect him. The kid is a stud and only going to get better with time. -

This is nothing more than a cross town gang war played by a bunch of preppies. Baylor would do the same thing to McCallie tomorrow if they are given the opportunity> -
Not many high school football coaches and AD's make $150,000 which has been reported several times. People stay @ MBA due to money (they pay very well) and if they do say something and it get's back to the "G-Man" they will be looking for another job very quickly. How many times have you ever heard of someone flying a plane over graduation that pulled a banner asking the board to fire the headmaster?
-
McCallie is doing a poor job with the internet and keeping the brackets updated. They are a long way from being professional like Ironman or Beast of the East.
-
Could it be that Jeff along with most people with 1/2 a brain hates working for the "G-MAN" Who wants to put up with the "G-Mans" BS The "G-Man" would have trouble finding a coachs if he didn't have the ability to pay his coaching staff more than other schools.

cbg replied to Cactus Jack's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Is there anything to the rumor that Oak Ridge may be trying to lure Bruce back? -
If NCW & Southside have a meeting you can count on everyone being hydrated. The problem is who pays the tab and does the local watering hole have enough liquid beverages for all of the participants.
-
A very strong rumor on the street is that information got out about Rutledge talking to BA and the "G-Man" gave Rutledge 48 hours to sign a 2007 contract or he would be terminated. I have heard that the BA headmaster wants to hire a friend from Texas to be the next football coach.

JMO, but here we go: Young probaly won the state at a higher weight classification last season is the reason he has received the higer seed. Manley must have been considered the best at 103 or he would not have received the higher seed.

It's great that MBA is going to have their own club but what is the deal with you guys and Nashville Catholic Youth Wrestling? Have they not been sending you their best wrestlers for the past few seasons? I have been told that you guys have a past due invoice to Nashville Catholic for training your wrestlers, when do you plan to pay that invoice? It's hard to understand why MBA will not pay their bills.

Why do the rual D1 A schools not have kids that wish to participate in athletics? What are they doing after school (hey we know they are all not working because there are not that many jobs in rual communities/their parents often travel for jobs) if they are not playing sports. What I have seen is that rual D1 A girls basketball is vey good and the girls are dedicated and work to win, so what is wrong with the guys? Are you saying that they are just lazy?
-
Place everyone back together (D1 & D2) and have 4 regions with the top 4 from each region advancing to the state tournament. Place the top 6 wrestlers in each weight classification.
-
Ensworth will be a very well coached team with some fine atheltes but IMO they are still a few years away from being able to compete for a State Championship. Look for MBA & BA to be 3 or 4 touchdowns better than Ensworth in 2007.
-
Mapelwood & Whites Creek are not great teams. They could be refered to as above average teams in some years and average teams at best other years. If you wanted to play a good public school teams from Middle Tennessee you would play one of the top 4 teams in the Ravenwood region.
