  1. Don’t ever allow facts to get in the way of a good story by someone else.
  2. What really good teams has Gallatin or Green Hill defeated? Gallatin lost to a decent Hendersonville who in turn lost bad to what appears to be a strong Brentwood team. Green Hill is undefeated, but I am not convinced that they have really played what I consider to be a really good team. Yes, both teams will more than likely end up in the playoffs but is that an indication of a really good team when we currently have nine divisions and the top four teams from each region qualify for the state playoffs? Not trying to rain on your parade but just trying to be a real.
  3. A large percentage of the states allow the high school players to wear the NCAA and NFL style cut pants.
  4. Just a hunch that the headmaster at BA has the Board of Trust in his back pocket and they have blessed his every move! This is definitely not the BA of past years and as a true outsider I see the man ruining what was once a proud tradition of both academics and athletics. I have watched this scene play out at multiple independent schools across the southeast. Only one school that I am aware of does not have this issue. They have a BOT of around fifty members but within that BOT is an executive committee of four or five individuals that truly run the school. The executive committee has no members that are not “old school” alumni. AKA the members of the executive committee will openly tell everyone that if they are not happy there are no fences keeping them at the school and they are welcome to leave at any time.
  5. Marty is underrated as a coach but most importantly his whole staff is really strong and work well together.
  6. The real question is how many more years will the Irish put up with not having a strong football program? IMO nothing will change!
  7. I have heard the exact same thing about the headmaster. Several BA alumni feel as if the football coach and his staff also need to leave after this season.
  8. It's probably more like "LIGHT YEARS" than miles apart. There is no comparison if Pearl Cohn is healthy
  9. It would really make the Board of Trust at both schools look like idiots if they terminate the headmaster and head football coach as they approved both hires. I agree that BA should terminate both the headmaster and head football coach but I don’t feel that will even be considered. I do know that BA has had a massive turnover with the faculty and the local alumni are not happy. Until BA get’s back to their roots they will never be as successful as they once were. BA does not appear to have the same size and athleticism in the trenches as past BA teams.
  10. Absolutely not as that would make the administration look like idiots
  11. Let’s see if FR can stop what has been reported as a 26 game losing streak to MBA next Friday night.
  12. The headmaster was a douche bag that should have never been hired. I knew shortly after meeting his that he was a politician that would tell everyone what he thought they wanted to hear. Needless to say the school and community are much better off with him gone.
  13. Everyone can rest assured that the last thing the TSSAA want's is to be tied up in a long-drawn-out legal battle with a D2 school that has the money or "FREEE" attorneys to fight them. The last time this happened the TSSAA almost went bankrupt fighting against Brentwood Academy, and they won the case. In reality did they really win, or would they have been better off burying their head in the sand and allowing BA to do whatever they wanted? Yes, the TSSAA really wants this to go away, and they hope that no other schools force the issue, so they are not required to investigate anything.
  14. You should be fine! How many high school teams are able to replace a 4* QB with a 3* QB? From an outsiders point of view the 4* was a great athlete but he really needs some major work on his mechanics and knowledge of how to play the position. If the 4* had been developed by Trent he could have been great but that didn’t happen.
  15. The question is was he living in a dorm on the Lipscomb campus? A rumor was floated last year that a few of the players were living in dorms on the college campus.
  16. How many high schools in the country are able to replace a 4* QB with a 3* QB. This may be a blessing in disguise for David Lipscomb High School because from what I watched the 4* played hard and was very athletic but his grasp of the offense and throwing mechanics needed a lot of work. I know nothing about the young man or his family but it would be very difficult for most high school aged boys to leave their home and move several hours away and go to a new school. Not even discussing the athletic part of this equation but the social and academics must also be considered.
  17. So, is Logan Paradice back at The Baylor School after abruptly leaving last season?
  18. 90+% of the time the high school coaches are not calling players and recruiting. The recruiting is being done by current players, youth football coaches and others that live in the community.
  19. Overall team speed and execution will win the game.
  20. I completely agree that it’s not an “either or” issue! The problem is that a high percentage of academicians DO NOT believe that academics and athletics are able to coexist and both be great. I personally had one headmaster tell me that when athletics become great the tail begins to wag the dog and while he felt that it is perfectly fine for kids to participate in athletics he didn’t really care if the teams won championships. When I posed the question of how he would feel if the chemistry department had the same results as the football team he immediately informed me that those were two completely different scenarios and walked away. Needless to say it took 10+ years to get his contract terminated due to a weak Board of Trust and the athletic department of the school is in shambles.
  21. Exactly and other boarding schools are doing the same thing. I just want to know why the Board of Control would not vote like over 85% of the membership requested?
  22. I am not concerned about recruiting as it goes on everywhere but when the member schools of the TSSAA vote 85+ to require that athletes sit out one full academic year before becoming eligible, the Board of Control should honor that request. If done correctly there is very little way for schools to compete against Baylor and McCallie. Schools like St. Andrews Sewanee and Webb School have not decided to fund football like the above-mentioned schools but if they do, they will become competitive immediately.
  23. As long as the boarding schools are allowed to bring in kids from all over the world that have established an athletic record and they are immediately eligible it’s going to be difficult to win.
  24. The more time the injury is allowed to heal naturally before putting it under the extreme stress of competition should aid with a complete recovery. This dual means absolutely nothing and there is no reason to risk injury in the early preseason.
  25. It would be fine with me if people decided they didn't want to schedule us! The ones that did place us on the schedule would be treated more that fairly and we would all keep our end of the contract! It's really a sad state of affairs when you have to have strict contracts for a high school football game, but the issue is not me, it's that people don't keep their word and can't be trusted.
