  1. Eaglepride00 sorry if I caught you on an off day or the wrong time of the month. I was simply just correcting you, (common theme here) much like the Professor, that Simms will be playing basketball and I do agree with the posts following yours that a good athlete will play no matter what he does in high school. If we are throwing names out there Sam Bradford played as many sports as he could in high school. Granite Simms is not a Bradford type prospect, but he is a heck of a ball player. Much like the professor I think he could go bigger for basketball. Bottom of the line he will be playing and don't worry your Eagles are still the favorite to take this district. Should be interesting to see how this district shakes up. Take care buddy. Well, since we are correcting each other, "Granite" is a form of igneous rock from which countertops are commonly made. " Granted" is what you should have said. I am glad HCHS is good at sports because the English department, clearly, isn't getting it done. And my eagle pride has nothing to do with Northeast btw.
  2. This is an interesting district with the new classification adding Westmoreland, Macon, and Sycamore to the usual suspects. How do you see this shaking out? I got: 1 White House 2 Sycamore 3 Greenbrier 4 Goodpasture 5 Macon Co 6 Westmoreland
  3. Primetime, this isn't msn, cnn, espn, or any other "news" website. It is a high school sports message board. I don't take anything anyone says on here as news or facts. I didnt say "this just in" or "breaking news." It is a bunch of sports fans expressing OPINIONS. In my OPINION, the Simms kid will not play. If my kid had major college football scholarship offers, he wouldnt risk an acl, or ankle injury playing hoops. If he plays, obviously he will help he is a tremendous athlete. I wish Shonte the best of luck. But you, sir, can get over yourself. Professor, thanks for the correction. that is definetly good news. I guess I got some bad info. I heard that it was one of the big guys and that he snapped the tibia and fibula bones in his lower leg. Which would likely end a career, not to mention a season. Good for him. Hope he heels well. I did see West Creek and Kenwood play at NW's playday and both looked pretty good. Should be interesting this year.
  4. 1 NE 2 NW 3 HC 4 Kenwood 5 Springfield 6 CHS 7 West Creek 8 DCHS 9 Rossview This is how I see it shaking out. NE will be the team to beat with a ton of returning talent. With Andre Brown's emergence and a couple transfers, NW will build on last years mediocre season. HC will lose Sims (his decision)and have already lost the big white kid inside to a football injury. I think Kenwood will make huge strides in coach stigall's 2nd year/ D.D. Smith's sr. year to climb out the cellar. Springfield and WC will be a 1 man show most likely. DC and Rossview are BAAAAAAD! CHS is a ? for me. They have the nice soph pg coming back but who else? Is Baggett back? Just havent seen em much. Thoughts?
  5. Clarksville Northwest High School, home of th vikings.
  6. I do not know Coach Placeres at all. I am a mid tn resident and have no ax to grind with anyone. However, anyone who thinks that this situation is luck of the draw and that the coach had nothing to do with it, is absolutely delusional. Did he recruit them? Maybe not. But he had to have a hand in it on some level. How often do five families move to Gatlinburg, much less 5 families with above average basketball players (2 d1) that are high school age. Its not like it's San Diego, Maui, etc. I am not saying he did anything wrong but I am certainly not dumb enough to think that all of this fell in his lap by blind luck. If it did, I have two words for you Coach RP... POWER BALL!!!!!
  7. The only reason you couldn't put them in the same conversation is because their style of play is so different. KJ is a drive/draw/dish type player. Crawford is a scorer. But you cannot say that he isn't just as talented because he is. I saw him at the real deal eating up anyone that was in front of him. He isn't a great athlete. I will give you that. But he uses his body very well, is strong as a bull, and is crafty with the basketball. And to answer your question about Crawford being the only one with high major offers, Kedren has offers from UT and Vandy, among others. The kid is a player. I know it is hard for you guys to believe there are any players outside of shelby county but I am telling you he can GO! I grew up in Jackson. I am a West Tn guy. But Steele, TJ, and KJ are just too tough. Sorry.
  8. Well first, Casey Prather will be in AAA next year so lets remove him from the conversation. But I feel that he is better than anyone we have mentioned. I did not say that Crawford is not a very good player. He can stroke it. I just said I dont think he is the best player in AA. I too am unbiased and have seen all of these guys play. I saw Crawford play once last season and about ten times this summer. He is a great spot up shooter and can score in transition. He lacks defensive intensity. I did not see him attack the basket with any kind of authority, when he was forced to put the ball on the floor he either passed or turned it over. Just my evaluation. I would say he is the fourth best in AA. I explained why I liked Steele. He is in no way a mid-major talent. He will play in the SEC. I just like TJ's versatility and since he plays at Liberty, you know he can D up.Coach Henning from Ridgeway told me that TJ gives Tarick Black more trouble than anyone else they play. He said Black fouls out everytime they play. Thought that was interesting. Kedren can do so many things. He can play the 1-4 positions but is at his best with the ball in his hands. He isnt a great on the ball defender and lacks consistency with the jumpshot but can get in the lane at will, is a great passer, is a solid team defender(helpside, taking charges, etc) and rebounds extremely well for a guard. I love Jay Murphy's game. I saw him lock down some really elite guards this summer. He can stroke the 3, handle and distribute the ball and is really just a likeable kid too. Again, I like Crawford. I just think he is one dimensional. I think these other guys just bring more to the table. Just my thoughts fellas.
  9. Not so fast my friend. Crawford can really shoot it. But there is alot more to the game than shooting the 3, which is about all I have ever seen him do. Jalen Steele, Kedren Johnson, Tarius Johnson, are all 3 better than Crawford in my opinion. I would have to give Steele the edge because of his leadership, ability to score inside/outside and also his ability to come through in the clutch as evidenced by those 2 gold balls he has hoisted.
  10. So... any ideas about who the leading candidates might be?
  11. Really good teams that I saw, Gouchos, BASS, Memphis Magic, Atlanta Celtics, and Dallas Heroes to name a few. I agree Real Deal may not be what it once was but there was still some stiff competition. I think you make some good points. It has hurt and I think its a shame for some of the kids who have really been playing well so far.
  12. Winning the Real Deal is only a "decent championship"? Keep sipping on that hater-ade. There was some heat at that tournament.
  13. What age? 15's are huge but couldn't guard my grandma. 16's are really good. Lost in the championship game. Looked to be out of gas after playing the whole tourn. with only 7 guys. Kendall Anthony is a blur. 17's are solid. Made it to final 4. Casey Prather is a stud!
  14. Thank you Capt. Obvious! So, Randy King's clone won't get the job. It won't be a college coach who can't teach nor someone with no experience. And the principal will likely need to make a good hire. Man, maybe they should let you do the hiring. It sounds like you already have it figured out. Profound insight, sir.
  15. Is it a fact that Green is interested in the job? or is that just a rumor? Seems like a reach to me. Not that Oakland isn't a great job because I truly believe that it is. Everyone keeps saying that he is the favorite and I'm just not sure that he has even submitted a resume. Thoughts?
  16. That kid is clutch. He demands the ball and produces with the game on the line. Period. He did it last year and again this year. He is really fun to watch. That Bolivar game was awesome!
  17. Livingston fans, I mean no disrespect because I love the way your team plays and Dunn is a joy to watch. But can you please explain to me what the crap is a HOGEYE. I know it is a cheer that you do about 4,000 times per game but what does it mean?
  18. Chad and Chase are a joy to watch. They play so hard and with so much passion. I hurt for their loss and for the rest of the family. Prayers and best wishes.
  19. I will say NE by 1, Rossview by 10, Kenwood by 5, and Northwest by 4
  20. I think I remember reading a similar thread about this time last year when all of the HC faithful were saying to watch out for them this year, etc, just as they are again this year. But then they didnt really do much when it counted. Is this just fans being optimistic again or are your boys really that good. Time will tell. I do think the district will be extremely competitive this year.
  21. Well, after the montgomery county jamboree last night, I think it safe to say that Northeast is the favorite. They are big, physical and have good guardplay. Rossview looked good but not overly impressive against an improved Mont. Central team. Northwest and Clarksville played each other pretty close, niether looked like they are going to contend for the title. Kenwood looked solid in the first quarter against NE but faded in the second as they did not appear to have the size to matchup physically with them. Also, Banks was in street clothes along with a four or five other varsity players due to injury, eligiblity, etc. So, I don't think that was a true showing of how Kenwood will be this year. Any thoughts from those who attended last night?
  22. See, I have heard from a few people lately that NW is gonna be real this year. Apparently, this new coaching staff has gotten these guys on the same page. We all know that talent and athleticism has not been the problem there. Talent/ athleticism + coaching/ direction= a good ball team. I am not saying they are going to win the district. I am just saying watch 'em.
  23. Glad to hear he is improving. I went to Coach's camps for several years. Great coach and better person! Good luck, coach.
