  1. Which team in the top ten do you think they could beat?
  2. You have lost me... So you are implying that that this team should be more successful than it is at this point. In what way? Are you saying they should have won some games they didn't? Or are you saying they should have kept some games closer than they did? What has this team done so badly to be on the verge of "disaster"? How should they go about fixing it? LA's schedule is very, very tough this year and to be honest this is not one of LA's most athletic teams. Therefore, you can't really expect them to have the same success of LA teams of the past. Especially against such a tough schedule. With teams like Upperman and Station Camp in their district/region, LA would have to get a little on the lucky side to get out of the region tournament. These girls have played hard this year and kept a few games very close that I didn't think they were capable of keeping close. Coach Smith has a way of keeping games close even when the other team is better. I guess I am not understanding where you are coming from...
  3. Old news. This team is not looking back and neither should LA fans. You live. You learn. You move on. Someone mention on the other thread that Chase Dunn only needed 85 points to go until he breaks the LA scoring record. Considering this kid's size and the tough competition that he has played against in his 4 years at LA, this is an amazing accomplishment. I have really enjoyed watching him play over the years. I know he is going to help this LA team finish this season with a bang! Glad he will only be a few minutes down the road next year. Isn't the record that he is going to break currently held by Coach Melton?
  4. Great to see LA ranked so high. Winning out from this point on with a State Championship is sure to move them into that #1 spot. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. They were 30-4 going into the state tournament last year. They were beat badly by Fulton (92-55) *You made your point. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Even more of a reason for LA so stay focused this time around.
  6. Livingston is (11-7). 3 of those losses came against AAA schools (Cookeville, Shelbyville, Clarskville NE). Then they lost last night to a VERY good Station Camp team. They have the 9th toughest schedule in AA. I highly doubt this season has any chance of turning into a disaster. Especially with such a great coach. Coach Smith always has her team ready when the post season rolls around. Out of LA's remaining 11 games they could very well lose 7 of them and I still wouldn't consider it a failure. They have some tough games coming up (JC x2, Upperman x2, Smith Co. x2, York). This isn't one of the loaded LA teams of the past that everyone is use to. They are young. They will come around and they will get better.
  7. Just wanted to take a moment to recognize how hard this LA team is working. You have to love watching this team play. It doesn't matter who is on the floor, your sure to get 100% from every player. They get along very great and they all love to get their teammates involved. They seem to have a lot of momentum as they are on a 8-game winning streak. They recently won the Alec Kessler Classic Tournament in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Then last night they beat a strong John Jenkins led Station Camp team. Their remaining schedule looks to be favorable, but they still have to play an aggressive Upperman team. Twice. At this point in the season LA is (16-1). Their only loss was by 2 points to a very strong Ensworth team who is (12-2). LA is averaging 72 points a game and are out scoring their opponents 1226-902 Remaining Schedule Fri Jan. 9 Jackson Co. Tue Jan. 13 at Pickett Co. Fri Jan. 16 Smith Co. 8. Just wondering why he is going to Vanderbilt? Is that what he wanted or was it just his best offer? Was Pearl not interested in him?
  9. Looks like he is going to break the record at Upperman. Couldn't think of a better place if he can't do it at home. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> He could get it at home vs. Smith Co. but he might not be as needed against the weaker teams coming up. 11 regular season games to go. About what 9 or 10 tournament games to go (if we get there)? 20 games x 20 points = Its possible that he shatters the record. Great job Chase. Keep it up!
  10. Station Camp had a few guys step up and make some 3's that I don't think they would normally make. However, you have to give them credit. They came out ready to play. Jenkins is GOOD.
  11. I am sure you wish that was the case. I agree with Rabbit. Coach Melton and his team will get rolling when it matters. The awesome thing is, we are talking about a team with 1 loss being in a slump. Like I have said all year long.. Just wait untill this team is hitting on all cylinders. Its hard to stop them as it is now. Last season we saw Dunn have the night of his life when he needed it most. This season I say we will see this Team's night when we really need it most.. (state championship game perhaps) The team is already playing great... And its only gonna get better.
  12. Dunks are cool, but it is still just two points. I prefer the shots from beyond the arc. They require a little more touch.
  13. Wow! Did 'up2late' touch a nerve? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I believe she was joking around with King. Relax and check your grammar before posting. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Congrats to Chase. What are some thoughts on the game? Why was it so close? I didn't make it. As you can tell by my prediction, I assumed it would not be a very close game..
  15. Thats sad. I have had some relatives die of cancer myself. Its a great foundation. Its good to see the world of sports get involved in things like this.
  16. Is it ever too late to discuss a hot topic like this? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
  17. I haven't heard if there is a jv game or not. I need to get out and see the young guns. Let me know what you find out?
  18. So your saying it wasn't a good game? lol... Talk about detail.. Ya lost me.
  19. Thanks. Sounds like Upperman just couldn't contain him for a whole game...?
  20. So, Station Camp by 6? I figured Upperman would beat them. I guess they will have to figure out a way to beat them if they want a sub-state game later on.... Considering these two teams might meet in the region semi-finals.
  21. Yeah, that one would have went over my head also if he wouldn't have told me what he was talking about... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  22. Isn't Parris still at the middle school in Pickett Co.? I thought he was? IMO. . . . The problem has nothing to do with coaching. Phil Jackson couldn't turn a mule into a race horse. PC is a very small town. The pool has just ran dry. It happens. It comes and it goes. It will be back in about 8 to 10 years I'm sure. I have seen PC play about 3 times this year. It wouldn't matter if they knew the game 10 times better than some of the teams they have played, they just are not athletic enough or born with the basketball talent that some other kids are. Its not their fault. Thats just life. You do the best with what you got. PC has a good group of kids. They work hard. They will get a little better.
