  1. Alot of kids really played great during these tournaments and should have been recognized. There was some great baseball played this week. I didnt see anything regarding an all tournament team. Did I miss something or did TSSAA fumble AGAIN!
  2. nothing is wrong with him but he pitched 10 innings in two days. Rules state he has to have a day off.
  3. I suspect Lipscomb will use anybody and everybody except Lehning. Dont have a clue who will start however.
  4. Lipscomb won 5-4. Lipscomb jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 5 but Bolivar came back to get it to 5-3 going into the 7th . BC scored once in the 7th but hit into a 3-6 DP to end the game. Great game. Both teams should be proud of their effort.
  5. Best of luck to the young man injured. Sorry to hear that.
  6. Agree on the 3 yr olds. They should only start charging at school age or even 12 yrs and older. Most under 12 are there to play themselves. Bad thing was several lights were out on the field for the night game. Doesnt TSSAA stop counting $ money enough to make sure the facilities are in proper order?
  7. Yes, that is what I understand. Who does Bolivar have after those two?
  8. Bolivar was impressive last night vs Anderson Co. Their pitcher really threw well. If Bolivar gets to the championship game and he's available, he'll give Goodpasture/USJ all they want.
  9. Considering this plan would probably shorten the regular season (and probably reduce the # of games) and mean more money to the TSSAA (which is their main function) I would think its a no-brainer (win-win) for the TSSAA to go that way. Im amazed they havent thought of it themselves, but they will probably lose some revenue this year on the parking ($5 per car to park in a lot paid for by taxpayers) considering more people will carpool to the Fling due to gas prices, so they will be looking for ways to "grow revenue".
  10. They are 18-14 from a very competitive district with Franklin, Centennial, Brentwood, Indepdendence and Overton. Good depth in the pitching dept but no super pitcher, leadoff and #4 hitters are their best bats. Play good defense. Leadoff hitter, Carter is their best pitcher (LH) and plays CF when not pitching. Not a physically impressive team but fundamentally sound. Pretty good catcher too.
  11. In a very close and competitive game, Lipscomb beat Lexington 8-7 in 8 innings. Great game as neither team would give in but Lipscomb had alittle more throughout the lineup to pull it out. Lipsomb just wouldnt quit coming back. They came back in the 6th, 7th to tie the game and finally the 8th to win it. Credit the Keck kid for a gutty effort. He was done in the 6th inning but just kept battling. He's a fine player.
  12. I believe Walden threw Monday night. Regardless, RB is home, hitting the ball pretty good and has alot of pitching to throw at BC, so I'll lean towards the Lions.
  13. Lexington pitchers must be real good at keeping the ball down and away from hitters too. If you are a pitcher with a deep centerfield, you can afford to get it up alittle but at 345 to center, thats not an option. Give Lexington pitchers credit for out-of-town teams not hitting HRs there. And I'm not from Lexington.
  14. Thanks, now lets just hope I can pick it up East of Franklin.
  15. Is there a Lewisburg station that would carry the Marshall Co game tonight? If so, can you give the the frequency?
  16. Considering he was named a pre-season All American, someone has been promoting him and doing a very good job at it I might add.
  17. FRA 7 MLK 6 Today at 4pm at Shelby Park, it will be Lipscomb vs MLK. Winner will play FRA on Thursday.
  18. Check with Mickey Hiter at www.msaba.org. Both of these guys will know of tournaments that might still have some openings.
  19. Sparta/Cookeville to Chattanooga would be a longer trip (plus different time zone). that would be very tough for the TSSAA to agree to I believe. I agree that a 4 team district vs some of these 8 team Districts isnt right. JMO.
  20. They have a jr/sr dominated team with very good defense up the middle and a pitching staff that doesnt walk alot of people. Trust me on this....it aint coaching.
  21. Farragut should win. Siegel is a competitive team but probably not in the class of the top teams in the state.
  22. Lipscomb run ruled FRA at FRA last Monday and won a squeaker yesterday at Lipscomb 6-5. FRA pitcher Williams pitched a great game as did Hoelzer in relief for Lipscomb. Every team is beatable on a day when the opposing pitcher is on.
  23. Maybe all the smack talkers graduated....... thus far there isnt anything to talk about. Lipscomb has run ruled every game except one (won it 9-1) in the district thus far. I suspect FRA to be second and a battle between CPA and Ezell for 3rd and 4th.
  24. I dont mean to belittle David Issacs or your opinion but Navery Moore is and has been an outstanding player and prospect for several years now. Dont believe everything you hear from "area scouts". Issacs has signed with Shelton State Community College and Moore has signed with Vanderbilt. Issacs has won some big games for BGA over the years no question but that doesnt mean he's their best pitcher. Moore is coming off Tommy John surgery but he is throwing very well in the field. He will be an outstanding pitcher at Vandy.
