  1. Congrats to the Mustangs. I never saw that coming. Lipscomb has a great tradition and I figured they would bounce back, just not against Whites Creek and not so strong. What alot of these schools fail to understand is the multiplier at 1.8 means basically Lipscomb's student body and their fans are about half the size of their opponents.
  2. While I recognize Lipscomb is a young team and lost alot of talent off last year's team, they just didnt look to have it vs Goodpasture Friday night. Ive watch Mac's teams for the last 10 years and this years team is the first that I recall acted like they didnt want to hit. Goodpasture, a young team too, just manhandled them from the start. With Whites Creek coming in this week, it could get worse.
  3. It can be done, if you want to. Some concerns are : how playable is the field after the Sunbelt is over. Enough Hotel rooms for Spring Fling and Sunbelt. I still think it can be done but there are two good concerns the "powers to be" might have.
  4. Classic case of not keeping your hands "inside the ball". If you keep your hands in close to your body and rotate your hips, you'll keep the "fat part" of the bat over the plate longer and thus contact will be made there instead of off the handle or end. Practice keeping your hands in more in your practice swings.
  5. There are some deserving players on there and there are some who are not. I think the #1 criteria is your high school coach has to be very active in the TBCA. And FWIW, I dont have a son eligible to play on a Sunbelt team so there...
  6. Dont name anyone on your team, just name a player or several players that you/or your team played against that were outstanding... who were some of the best of 2009?
  7. Unfortunately, for too many college coaches, PG Crosschecker is all they use to recruit. Of course, usually those are the coaches getting fired relatively soon too!
  8. I saw the entire game and didnt see anything "classless" from any player on either team. Maybe I've seen enough baseball to realize an elimination game at a state tournament is an emotional game. Did the players for Lipscomb show emotion after they won the game...Yes. They should have. Did the Dyersburg team show emotion after the lost...yes. They should have too. I think both teams respect each other after that game. I know Lipscomb's team has respect for Dyersburg and Dyersburg I'm sure has alittle more respect for Lipscomb now. But again, I dont know where this "classless" calls are coming from except maybe from some who were in the stands! JMO.
  9. Prayers from the Lipscomb team and families.
  10. After seeing some of the "polls" by coaches, etc., Im not sure how you could "rank" teams. Some of these teams rankings is a joke. Schedule 30 middle school teams and you'll be in the top 2 or 3 in the state. I think the blind draw is the best. Id only prefer that the draw be made BEFORE the teams are announced ( Winner of Subsection Game 1 vs Subsection game 5 for example). This way you'd know the Friday before the state which two teams you'd be playing the winner of and it would eliminate any thoughts that the brackets get stacked for one team or the other.
  11. I think the 1st baseman for Dyersburg is a good kid and did a classy thing admitting the call was correct. Its a very emotional game when its down to the end like this. He had a tough nite at the plate and probably got frustrated with the last strike call. That shouldnt undermine the classy thing he did the day before. Dont know what occurred with the DL players except the emotions at the end of the game but, again, it was an emotional game for everyone. Those are two good teams that played hard. Lets leave it at that.
  12. I agree with Solution...school administrators should either respect the TSSAA calendar and not schedule graduation ceremonies on that Friday or change the TSSAA calendar...the TSSAA is run by school administrators for heavens sake!. Kids shouldnt be put in the situation that they have to miss one event or the other. The issue with lights at Lipscomb isnt an issue. J SouthSide was leaving last Friday if the game didnt start at 2pm regardless if Lipscomb had lights or not.
  13. Bolivar should have their top pitchers ready today. Looks like they will need them based on DC's win yesterday over Goodpasture. Just a hunch, but I'm going with the upset... Bolivar in a close one!
  14. Both have very solid teams. It should be a good game. Probably come down to a play made or not made that decides it.
  15. Both races meaning the 100 and 200 meters. Also, Ive noticed that no one this year has beat Rogers times from last year.
  16. Sounds like a good plan to me. Im for anything that eliminates the "single game elimination" set up that currently exists in the REgion and State sectional games.
  17. It will be either 4pm or 4:30. Lipscomb's home field doesnt have lights and they arent playing on the University field. Brentwood Academy/Pope John Paul are playing there.
  18. Best Wishes from all in District 9AA
  19. Most HS teams have one or two good pitchers at this point in the season. If your team has three "Hosses", this question doesnt apply to you. Most teams threw their "ace" yesterday. Do you come back with your next best pitcher Wednesday and go with the Monday starter again Friday on 3 days rest? Or do you save your "2" for Friday and take your chances winning the Region on Wednesday with a 3? Either way, you're guaranteed a Friday game for a trip to the state. Some high school pitchers can go on 3 days rest, especially if their pitch count was below 100 Monday. But alot seem to lose that something extra they have around the 4-5th inning of the Friday game. I remember last year some real outstanding pitchers lost their Friday games late after being dominant on Monday. I tend to lean going the the 3 on Wednesday and save my 2 for the Friday game, even though I might be on the road. That way I would have my ace for relief if I need him for a short stint. What's your thought?
  20. Probably blows on a horn in the band.
  21. Please keep us posted on the time and place of the championship game. I'd like to make that one if I can.
  22. It should be someone from Overton..probably Harton.
  23. If so, TSSAA will just declare MBA state champions in all classes and in all events! If Greenbriar, Jo Burns or Lawrence County had to close school for a week, it would be "tough luck" for them. No delaying the district, etc like TSSAA did for MBA.
  24. I know what you mean about it "being down" but I actually think that the 2008 class in TN was very exceptional as a group. Considering the number of D-1 players along with those who were or would have been drafted very high last year was not normal for a state the population size like Tennessee. Not many years where players like Gray, Moore, Lintz etc all play in the same yr within a 40 mile radius. There were alot others I didnt mention who are playing D-1 (and I mean "playing") from within the state.
  25. I expect Indy or Ravenwood to win it. Franklin and Centennial could make a move if their pitching holds up (big if for both). Overton will probably not win it due to them not having alot to play for plus they seem to be struggling some now. Brentwood is toast. They look like they want the season over with, both players and coaches. If Brentwood were smart, they'd clean house and get a completely new coach in there. JMO.
