  1. Very bad news for Sequoyah Football: Huffman has moved to Cleveland and is now attending and will be playing for Walker Valley next year.
  2. Without naming names, would you care to explain what "respect" problem you are talking about that caused the "season they had.."
  3. I should know this by now, but who chooses the All-Region teams and where does it get published?
  4. Have all the teams in District 5AA been eliminated from the playoffs? And/or are the playoffs over?
  5. You're joking, right! These "young men" are anything but fragile. You must have been so excited by the "changes" that were made 2 years ago, that you either didn't know or didn't care how all the players felt about what went on. Did you know that the entire team was going to refuse to play in 2008? Did you know that a small group of Varsity (then) juniors and a few sophomores met off campus to discusss what to do about the situation? Did you know that this group, who would be the leaders of the team in 2008 decided to play because 1. THEY LOVED THE GAME 2. They loved playing for their school 3. They wanted to set a good example for their teamates and 4. They wanted to show their departed coaches that they were not quitters and that they would continue to work hard, play hard to the best of their ability and continue to exhibit the discipline, respect and good sportsmanship that they had been taught by those coaches. "They shouldn't care" whether or not their student peers, parents, alumnae and supporters of Sequoyah Football appreciate their efforts, win or lose? Has it occured to you that they play as a TEAM for School PRIDE and SPIRIT (this is Friday Night Football country after all!), not just for an individual desire to have the most running yeards, passing yards or tackles. Do you go to these games? Have you ever seen these players exhorting the crowd to stand up, yell, and stamp their feet by waving their arms in front of the stands? They don't do this because they want individual accolades. They do it because they are pumped up by a good play, a touchdown or the need for a goal line stand and yes, the players on the field and the sideline hope that some of their "love of the game" will be supported and acknowledged by the fans. It's pretty hard to play all out when the fans don't respond to the band playing or the cheerleaders cheering or get excited about any play on the field except for a long run or a touchdown or a quarterback sack. Would you play an individual sport, let alone a team sport where nobody cared how you performed? The entire Sequoyah community should be PROUD of this team for going out on the field and playing hard and with the hope of winning every week, loss after loss after loss. By the end of the season, all this team wanted to do was beat Sweetwater. Unfortunately, even that didn't happen. You may think this team didn't have much talent, but they did have CHARACTER amd TEAM PRIDE. They DO CARE and to call them FRAGILE is just plain insulting!! And yes, my son is a senior and I couldn't be more proud of him, even if the team had won all of its games.
  6. SKS says Coach W was at practice yesterday. As for the future, who knows?
  7. I agree. Where is everyone. Forget the rest of the season. This is a game unto itself!!! These boys deserve all the encouragement and support we can give them. Most of them have worked hard all year and badly want to win this last regular season game. Let's hear some postive vibes from the fans!! Go Chiefs
  8. Don't forget that the Sweetwater game has been moved to Thursday night because there is no school on Friday. This would be a BIG rivalry win for Sequoyah and especially for the Seniors. All SKS would say when he thought he wouldn't play this year was that he had to get well enough to at least play in the Sweetwater game! We need all fans of Sequoyah football to come to Sweetwater and cheer for our Chiefs.
  9. I think this week will be a good one! Chiefs will win a close one 13-7! Then I heard we had a bonus game against Greenback on Nov3rd at Sequoyah. Can someone confim the Nov 3 game, place and time? Go chiefs! Good Luck Seniors!!! According to Coach S. at the Booster Club Meeting last week, the Greenback game is Tuesday November 3rd at 7:00. The game will be played at Sequoyah.
  10. Do not know about that, but does anyone know why Coach Satterfield did not stick around to be with the seniors after the game?
  11. Anyone have any idea how well the field will drain by 7:00 pm. Rain is supposed to end this morning with a chance of rain between 7 and 9 pm (of course that's what the weather forecast was for Scott County. Hope this game doesn't get postponed due to field conditions. That would be a big letdown for both teams. Go Chiefs!
  12. Gee, that sounds familiar!! Been there, done that. Just looked at Futurecast on WATE Yourcast Plus. Weather in Huntsville Friday looks like rain in the morning, partly sunny in afternoon and party cloudy from 7pm to midnight. Of course the posters from Huntsville probably have a more local forecast.
  13. Are you referring to the video that is on the TSSAA site? I watched it and now am more confused than I was before. Does anyone else feel the same or am I just not getting it?
  14. Sterling tells me that the field events and the 2 mile run are on Tuesday. The other track events are on Thursday. If they make it through subs, the regionals are on Tuesday of the first week of practice. We will have to wait and see what happens from there. I also am ready for football, but I am also surprised at how well our little known T & F team is doing. I am in the process of putting together an article for the Ad/Dem on the results of each meet. I think SQHS fans will be impressed with some of the results. Good Luck to Christian and Brandon next week.
  15. Saturday, May 9th as a two-a-day. Spring Practice is May 11 through May 22. Scrimages are May 14th at Wartburg and May 22nd at home vs Greenback. (This information from Coach's comments made at the last few Booster Club meetings and I assume are subject to change.) Also, the Lift-a-thon is scheduled for Saturday May 23rd in the gym. Sponsors and football fans will be invited to attend.
  16. Could you please send me an email at SBsportsmomDawn@aol.com re:Steinhardt. Thanks.
  17. Blake was at my house the other day. He has indeed moved to Athens. SKS had high hopes for him also and is disappointed that he won't be at SQHS. By the way, I know it doesn't mean much in the scheme of things, but Sterling's last name is spelled Steinhardt.
  18. Does anyone know where the "Official" final list is published, other than what we have listed on here?
  19. Has the final list been published yet? Does anyone know where this list gets officially published by the Region or Class?
  20. Dum Dum, this was back on page 2. Thought I would bring it forward to page one for you and anyone else who didn't see it.
  21. #55 is Rylan Watson. Kevin, do youwant me to send this picture to Willard or do you know who the other kids are?
  22. That brings up another question that I don't think has been addressed yet. Why is it that some schools charge $5 at the gate and others $6 (and yes, plus parking-that means if you go alone you are paying between $8 and $11 to get into a game). I thought TSSAA at least regulated the gate charge. And this happened at a school in the same region and division as the visiting team. Does anyone know?
