  1. Next Season. Both Districts should be extremely competitive. At least the 1-5 seeds. I would pair them up like this. Westview vs Upperman Obion vs Smith County Gibson vs Livingston Dyer County vs York Institute Crockett County vs Jackson County Union City vs Cannon County Dekalb is the odd man out and not sure what to do with them. This is in no particular order, I just think these would be the most entertaining matchups.
  2. I personally like the idea of 1 - 5 seeds matching up. With a coaches poll deciding which five teams will represent the respective districts. The team with the highest seed that wins their game and who's district takes the majority of the games will hold the cup until the next season.
  3. Names could be ....The Hall of Fame Cup or The Challenge Cup...
  4. Yes it is true, Dyer County is in and ready. Hall of fame Saturday, with preliminary thinking that UTM will be the site for 2004. The goal will be to play seven games in one day. Maybe we can do some sort of Cup, like the Ryder Cup in golf, to be held by the highest seed winner of the district that takes 4 out of 7 games. The Cup can be held for one year. This would make it even more entertaining to the already prideful fans of the respective districts. We have been mulling this idea since before the state tournament. Just to let everyone know that it will not be a tournament format. It will be a single game for each school, based on seeding to be determined by coaches from the respective districts. What do ya'll think about the CUP idea?
  5. O.k. bad analogy...We agree to disagree...
  6. I'm not saying that the AD's daughter would not make a good coach. I'm saying don't beat around the bush with AB telling her that she is being fired because of a poor winning percentage. Call a spade a spade, and just tell her that they have to make room for one of their own. Tell her that they are not even going to post the position because her shoes had already been filled before she took them off. To say that a team or a coach that has made it to the substate several times recently is underachieving is rediculous. Do you know how many programs can say that? Not many. Oh and by the way don't give me the stuff about the region is weak and you just have to finish fourth in the district. They still have to go through Middle Tennessee and Powerhouse Shelbyville to make it to the state and we all know how that goes.
  7. 1234, Do you think hiring the AD's inexperienced daughter will deliver the program to the promised land. The rational behind firing the old coach was because she could not get it done, why on earth would you hire someone who has absolutely zero coaching experience? I'm just curious...
  8. So replace an experienced coach with a homer that has absolutely no coaching experience and that will fix all these problems. I'm saying that it sounds like neither of the two will be a solution the solution. Politics almost always fails in sports and until everyone realizes it, mistakes will continue to be made.
  9. IMO Ferrell did more for that team than did Bellamy. Alot of the intangibles, such as hard nosed perimeter defense against the other teams best player. She also was the only player on Westview's team that could take her defender off the dribble and create shots for herself as well as teammates. She would be a complete player if she had a deadly outside shot. It depends on what you consider valuable. Bellamy is valuable and a great player, as a post however, she is only as good as the guards feeding her. It's kind of like the Kobe/Shaq thing. Who is more valuable?
  10. Who cares about football? This is a basketball board and a basketball discussion. Thanks for your addition to this thread.
  11. Every Squirrel finds a nut every now and then. What I am saying is from top to bottom West Tennessee is much deeper. Once teams get to state anybody can win and the best teams don't always do that. 10-15 teams could come out of West Tennessee every year and that is excluding Memphis. By Christmas you can pretty much pencil in the top 2 or three teams from East Tennessee in each class. You won't have many surprises. Oh and by the way when did David Lipscomb of Nashville become an East Tennessee power? Answer that one genius.
  12. Exactly in the early 90's East Tennessee had a couple of good teams in Science Hill. I never said single A didn't count. In the last 5 years they haven't done squat in AA or AAA. With this years AA and AAA gold balls coming west that ties us with middle. So we'll share kingsmanship until next year.
  13. Boy that is a risky prediction. Your going out on a limb with that one. He he he
  14. Bolivar is just that good and this is their year.
  15. I did not even include the all West Tennessee AA final of Southside and Bolivar or Haywood who lost a close one to Southside in the quarters. Or the all West Tennessee AAA final. Hey WaCoJaCo, How many of those titles from East Tennessee are in single A and how many are in the last decade? White County is the closest thing to East Tennessee to win a AA or AAA title game in 5 years. As for my ignorance. You stand corrected. HAVE A NICE DAY
  16. I have three arguments against your post 3 pointer. 1. Westview lost their most valuable player in Ferrell and she will be greatly missed. 2. Crockett lost Sherrell Tyus, the districts 3rd leading scorer and Crockett's only legitimate shooter and go to girl. 3. If Dyer County only wins one game next year I will personally never post or even watch basketball again for that matter. They have everyone back and will be competing for the 13AA title next year. I will agree that 13AA is loaded from top to bottom next season and it will be an awesome year.
  17. It should be called the Pennington Pit. You had a great coach in Andy Pennington and shafted him for David's prodigal son Micah. The good ol' boy system strikes again. Alcoa deserves exactly what they got "an ol fashioned woodshed beaten" Losers. :justwrestle:
  18. Boys basketball in East Tennessee is extremely weak from top to bottom. The teams that make it to state are the best the East has to offer and they almost always get embarrassed at state with the exception of Bradley and AE who usually bow out with somewhat of a fight. There are at least 10 teams in West Tennessee (not counting the Memphis schools) who could go to East Tennessee and dominate year in and year out. I'll go ahead and list them: Humboldt Covington Ripley Fayette Ware Chester County Liberty Milan Dyer County Union City Martin Westview Crockett County And those are just the AA schools. East Tennesse better stick to girls hoops. :justwrestle:
  19. I inquired about the position and was completely in shock at the pay scale for Clay County. I'm only an assistant and would take a $10,000 pay cut to come and be the head Coach. Being a father of two I just don't think I could do that. Does the booster club do anything to help the suprisingly low salary?
  20. Give me some contact information.
  21. Let me know something about the page program.

    7-AA

No matter what game, or what level, it all boils down to the same thing. If you can't put the ball in the hole you can't win.
  23. What is ignorant is you basing your opinion of Gibson County on one game. Yeah it is the one they lost, and the one that counted. It's unfortunate that they didn't play their best. Ignorant statements that they could not play with 7AA and they would struggle with 8AA are just completely profound. If they played Livingston 5 times they would win at least 2 of them. Your not even a LA fan, and your team is sittin at home right now wishing they could make the final 8 as is mine. You really don't have a dog in the fight so know your roll and shut your trap. Tennis"loser that sits behind a key board"
