  1. Alcoa and CCS are heading to PKs! I hate to see it finish like this, but I guess that's soccer.
  2. Still tied 1-1 at the end of 1st sudden death.
  3. Alcoa scored with 1 second to go in 2OT, but the AR called it back. He said time had expired. This outcome should be a good one.
  4. Alcoa scored with 1 second left in 2OT to go ahead, but the AR called it back. He said time had expired. WOW, wish I could see this game. Looks like we're going to sudden death and PKs.
  5. Farragut 1 - 0 Hendersonville FINAL
  6. Farragut 1 - 0 Hendersonville FINAL
  7. Cleveland 2 - 1 Kingsbury Bearden 4 - 0 Columbia Brentwood 5 - 0 White Station (halftime) Alcoa 0 - 0 CCS (halftime) Farragut 1 - 0 Hendersonville (halftime)
  8. I heard Mitchell got a stomach bug and wasn't feeling very well. Do you know if he's playing?
  9. I totally agree with you. We lost to them by the same score earlier in the season. But I think it made us a better team. It was a pleasure playing against such a great team. I am surprised that they lost a game! I was sure they would go undefeated. But I'm sure Coach Lima has them ready to go now and I would be very surprised if they didn't win it this year. Good job. There is no shame in losing to a great team like CBHS. And good luck to CBHS in the tournament.
  10. Congratulations to CAK on another job well done. Congratulations to Alcoa for breaking new ground in the soccer playoffs. You guys are making Blount County proud! As far as the games on Saturday. It looks like Alcoa will travel to the winner of Elizabethton / Pigeon Forge. CAK will host the loser of that game. The next round moves to Murfreesboro on May 20. Good luck to both teams. I'm glad we got to play you both.
  11. Lion101, no disrespect at all, but one of the coaches at Farragut DID tell our coach that it was moved in because of puddles. If you don't believe me, ask the assistant coach at Farragut. You are right though...the throw ins had nothing to do with Farragut's win. They won because they are a great team.
  12. Interesting...the Maryville coaches were told that the sidelines were moved in because of the wetness of the field in a corner.
  13. District Quarterfinals Maryville-4 Lenoir City-0 The game was a lot closer than the score. Does anyone have the Sevier County/South Doyle score?
  14. Lenoir City won the state championship in 1998 in A/AA. I think they moved up to AAA the next year.
  15. Let's not forget about Knox Catholic who is 3rd in A/AA and won the state championship last year. Also, Knox West is also very strong among the Knoxville teams. Afterall, weren't they a final 4 team last year? Either way, these new districts are going to cause some frustration. I think everybody wants to say their district is the toughest. And, who knows, in a few years it could be. I think all we are trying to say with this district, is that in recent past, these teams have proven to be conisistently ranked with up there with the best teams in the state. Until last year, didn't Farragut and Bearden have the state crown for like 7 consecutive years? All in good fun, of course.
  16. If I know Coach Gorman as much as I think I do, I believe he has scouted Bearden numerous times already this year. He has done his homework and he will have his team ready to exploit Bearden's weaknesses, if you can find any. Alcoa is a very athletic team and very quick. I think they will match up quite nicely. However, one problem may be the fact that this game is at Bearden. Alcoa plays very well on their field. But how will they do when they make the transition to a much wider field? Also, how have they recovered from the past 2 games against Maryville and Farragut? If they can overcome these 2 challenges, I think it will be a fun game to watch. I predict it will be a very quick paced game. Good luck to both.
  17. There are actually only 2 more teams in District 4AAA 1. Farragut 2. Bearden 3. Maryville 4. Catholic 5. Knox West 6. Lenoir City 7. William Blount 8. Heritage It would be hard to argue that this won't be the toughest district in the state. Here is a link to the new classifications in Tennessee. http://www.tssaa.org/allclasses.pdf
  18. Maryville-1 Sevier Co.-1 We felt like we had an edge in possession and opportunities, but it was not a lopsided game. SC has a good team, and they cannot be taken lightly. They are very physical and organized on defense. #2 is a great player and we wish him luck in college. Where is he playing? SC scored on a direct kick, and we scored on a nice build up and a cross from Bradley Fischer with a finish from Austin Pugh. Shots: Maryville-13 Sevier Co-7 Corners Maryville-3 Sevier Co-0
  19. Maryville starts seven sophomores. We are very young.
  20. Maryville was the winner out of Group 1. We beat CAK, Farragut, and Oak Ridge. Bearden and Hardin Valley had to play this morning at 9 to see who was going to be the winner out of Group 2. I still don't know the outcome of that one. The final is today at 2:00. It will be Maryville vs. Bearden / Hardin Valley. Should be a good game. I know my team has had a blast playing these other JV teams from around the region. It's really fun to see what the future of Knoxville area soccer will look like in a few years. Again, thanks to Coach McCoy for taking the time to organize this tournament and giving JV teams something to play for. Loved the post dins. I don't think I could have said it any better.
  21. Akula is pretty much right on. It was a good match and Alcoa is a good team. We did not play our best game and I think Alcoa was a bit direct too. Overall, it was a very physical match with very little possession from either team. It seems like it is always like this when rivals play...Farragut and Bearden played the same way last night. It is worth noting that the Maryville coaching staff was VERY impressed with Sam Thompson. At first we thought he was just a great athlete, but now we think he is a great soccer player as well. He gave our midfield fits. Overall, great game, and we hope we can continue this traditon next year as well. Shots: Maryville: 17 Alcoa: 8 Corners: Alcoa: 8 Maryville: 7 This is from the Maryville bench...Alcoa might have something different.
  22. Farragut 3 - 1 Bearden Farragut was definitely the better team tonight. Both teams played hard, but Farragut was able to possess more. In the first half Farragut did whatever they wanted to with Bearden. All 3 of Farragut's goals were scored in the 1st half. 1st goal came off a header by #4 on a corner kick. 2nd goal was a rip from about 30 yards out that knicked the post and in to the goal. And the 3rd goal came from a huge cross to an outside mid at the far post who first-timed it back in to the middle to #8 who placed it nicely in the corner. Farragut did very well at switching the field and using the flanks to keep Bearden's defense off balance. 2nd half was a little more even, but Farragut was playing with a lot of their 2nd team guys. This is when Bearden got their goal. And the starters were immediately put back in to finish out the game. Fun game to watch, but Farragut definitely showed they were the better team and the best team in this district. Good luck finishing out the season.
  23. Although you may be right about the winner, I believe the score you predicted is a bit ambitious.
  24. Yes that rumor is true. Our starting keeper went out with a concussion after the Farragut game. So we recruited Ryan Click, the shooting guard on our basketball team, and Phillip Juhlin, the quarterback of our football team. Both kids brought an awesome swagger to practice and to the game. With only one day of training we were extremely impressed with Ryan's performance tonight. What an athlete. As for the game...two different halfs. Bearden dominated the first half and had more opportunities. Ryan Campbell scored..he is a great player. We were very pleased with the way we bounced back in the second half. We thought we had the run of play in the second but we didn't give them as much of a butt kicking as Bearden gave us in the first. We were able to possess, and work our flanks well in the second. Ryan Pugh had a crack that hit the post near the end of the game and Bearden had several balls that they missed inside the six. All in all, Bearden has a really good side, and if we didn't wake up in the second half they could have easily taken this game. Hats off to Ryan Click for stepping up for us. Shots: Bearden:17 Maryville:11 (Bearden could have something totally different because we had a different count than the announcer at half time.
