    Super 7

64champ, thanks for the dose of reality. This thread really needed it. Looks to me like all the crowds in Tennessee are smaller than they were 10-12 years ago. But, ticket prices at $5-$6 and even paid parking in some places doesn't help. Curious, what's the ticket price in Cali?
  2. Back to the game. I've seen both of these teams within the last three weeks, I like Northwest here. Wilkerson will be the best athlete on the field. Not sure Hillwood will be able to slow him down. As long as Northwest doesn't kill themselves with onsides kicks and penalties - they're better than Hillwood. Against Shelbyville, the Toppers returned the opening kick 90 - got a 3&out - and returned the ensuing punt for a quick 12-0 lead. Factoring this, Northwest will probably continue this squib kick technique, yielding favorable field position. I'll go NW 28, Hillwood 21.
  3. Rebel, get your panties out of wad. You punked Lipscomb and got called out on it and then showed ignorance by not knowing who Coach McCadams is. Year in, year out - Lipscomb generally hasn't been able to compete at a level much higher than 2A. This current group could play - and make the playoffs - at 4A. They're solid and McCadams' teams do not make mental mistakes. I used to dismiss Lipscomb as well, but a friend's kid played for Coach Mc and I went to several games. He's good. And he does it the right way. I'd like to put something (Franklin) in the mail to you, any way you can drop me an address.
  4. Will Martin spent two years as starting QB at Coffeyville Community College and then signed with MTSU. He's been a starting safety both years with the Raiders.
  5. RebelRon, They closed it down right around '80 and used the Goodlettsville and Madison High kids to populate Hunters Lane. I believe old Goodlettsville High is now either a junior high or elementary school.
  6. cbg, I concur. The Hillsboro game was over a month ago. I'm sure the drill has been addressed, but they haven't had to apply it in any game situations. Against the Burros, Antioch got the ball back with 1:45 remaining and the clock was under 20 seconds before their third snap. But, Hendersonville made the finals on '01 with no passing attack - maybe the best special teams play I've ever seen in high school, but zero passing attack.
  7. Mc9, I would want no part of Antioch in the playoffs. I'd venture they look scary on film. It's key that they don't let anybody jump out on them and force them into catchup. I'd say this team is capable of playing with anybody, Lincoln County included - but, they're also capable of losing to anybody too - Centennial included. They have the talent, size, depth and speed to go a long way. But, if they get behind late - I fear they're done. I saw the two-minute attack versus Hillsboro. It was not pretty.
  8. I'm not even sure if he knows right now.
  9. After seven seasons, Kenwood Coach Terry Arrington resigned following the Knights' 1-9 campaign. Arrington guided Kenwood to a memorable 10-4 season in '99 - losing 15-12 to eventual champ Memphis East in the 4A semi-finals, but was unable to maintain success after Kenwood was reclassified as one of the smallest 5A programs in '01.
  10. Antioch will probably host Centennial in their playoff opener. Don't let the record fool you, this is a solid Centennial team. Might not be a pass thrown.
  11. Red Baron, this is Metro - Home of the 10-8 street fight. I don't expect anything different tonight.
  12. William Johnson at Stratford or Cody Finley at Cheatham County.
  13. Brent Alexander of Gallatin now plays for the Steelers. Shelton Quarles of Whites Creek is a Pro Bowler with Tampa Bay. Pearl-Cohn's John Henderson with Jacksonville.
  14. My bad, Jason was the QB at DCA last year.
  15. UNDER THE RADAR IN THE MID-STATE... 5A - SMYRNA 4A - NORTHWEST 3A - MACON COUNTY 2A - CHEATHAM COUNTY 1A - WAYNE COUNTY
  16. 1A back - Joseph Ruddle (Wayne Co.) 2a back - Cutler Robertson (Lipscomb) 3a back - Roger Herndon (Greenbrier) 4a back - Marcellus Tibbs (Hillsboro) 5a back - Jamison Link (Gallatin)
  17. Are you Super 7 guys just too young to remember how good Father Ryan was? What about Gallatin? Gordonsville? Why does a team have to win a state championship to have 'tradition'? That's silliness. Marshall County has tradition. Mt. Juliet has tradition. Collinwood has tradition. Smith County. Harpeth. Don't be so short-sighted.
  18. Mc9, you're right on about Coker. I also like R.C. Smith at Gallatin, a junior OT that goes 6'6", 300+. The Wilkerson kid at Northwest is a great prep back and runs downhill with good body lean. Also liked the QB at Mt. Juliet (Levi Brown) and think with a good summer full of camps he could develop nicely. Lincoln County's Gregory is solid as well and Centennial RB Curtis Steele will get a bigger role next year - still a little skinny in the legs, but he can fly. Charles Orona of Smyra (DB-WR) is another player.
  19. Lipscomb's got too much up front in this one. Ezell's losses have come against teams with better interior play and Lipscomb's better up front than all of them. Do you guys realize that Lipscomb's QB Burton Elrod is averaging 30 yards per completed pass with 1,242 yards on 42 completions. The Rogers kid is averaging 35 yards per catch with 840 receiving yards. Should be a solid individual matchup with Gettis and Rogers dueling all night.

    GREENBRIER ?

I need an ID on Greenbrier #57. He's a two-way player - center and defensive end. He's not on my roster. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  21. CLASS 1A-3A IN MIDSTATE RUNNING BACKS Michael Wilmore (Smith Co.) DeAngelo Johnson (Giles Co.) Luke Landers (CPA) Chris Wooden (DCA) QUARTERBACKS Josh Garza (Sycamore) Dusty Ray (Gordsonville) Burton Elrod (Lipscomb) Joseph Ruddle (Wayne Co.) WIDEOUTS Patrick Turner (Goodpasture) Travis Sikes (CPA) Austin Rogers (Lipscomb) Ryan Gaines (Friendship)
  22. Antioch's defense is as solid as any I've seen. They are deep, physical and tackle well. I don't expect it to be high scoring at all.
  23. Curious to see what kind of crowd this one draws.
  24. Looks like Pearl-Cohn's facing a must-win at White House next week or Whites Creek might slide into that fourth spot.
  25. Don't get on that interstate until after McCrory Lane - you'll be sorry. Take HW 96 all the way in. Of course Dickson has won their district/region before - they were AAA state champions in '88. Watch out for that little Allen kid, he can fly.
