  1. I guess you can thump your chest for another year. Actually, I am not surprised. I knew that if Greenbrier did not spread the field it would be a long night. Throw in penalties, dropped passes, and turnovers and you got a recipe for a lopsided game. Not to mention horrible field position. I think we had a couple of 5-10 yard punts. Springfield QB and #83 were hard to stop on the ground. Not much of a passing game, but why pass when you can get yards on the ground. Springfield kicker is legit. Not sure that those three are gonna get you far in 5A, Not sure who #44 was for Springfield, but I would get him the ball more on offense, and lighten the load for Devon. Short roster and Ironman football was not a good recipe for Greenbrier in that heat last night, but the atmosphere was nice for an opening game amid all this pandemic stuff. Good luck the rest of the season!
  2. Looks like you answered your own questions. I was not impressed with Springfield Defense against Westmoreland, Maybe that was Justin's intention, but I think we can score at least 3 TD's. Bobcats 21-14. I just don't see Bobcats giving up more than two TD's. The field conditions will impact this game for sure.
  3. I since a little underestimating going on in Springfield this week. That's good for us! I will be surprised if Springfield scores more than two TD's. Bobcats defense is pretty good. Special teams is above par. Our offense for the past two years has seen its ups and downs. Mainly because we have left out some skilled players on offense. QB #12 is the real deal, but everyone is hung up on him being 5'10 195lbs. Spread the field and let him toss it to one of our D1 prospects or take off running. Do that, and Bobcats get their first win vs Springfield in a long time. Rain could be a factor in this game as well. Last year was a muddy mess.
  4. How do you not kick a field goal and go up by two scores(twice)? Same question for us - how do you not kick a field goal 4th and 6 inside Westy's 15 in the first half?

  7. I saw a couple of blue devils taking notes on you guys tonight, so you got their attention already. Pretty sure if Westy turns the ball over like they did tonight, they will lose. If they try to force the ball on fourth down and through the air, and make bad choices with regard to field position = they lose. This will be another low scoring game that could go either way. Team with the fewest mistakes, penalties and turnovers win. I give the defensive edge to Westy, and a very slight edge to Whouse on offense. Special teams and coaching to Whouse. Should be a good one.
  8. Well, I am sure the dropped 2 point conversion loss in overtime to Westy back in 2010 was not far from the coaches minds when making the call.
  9. Westmoreland defense was pinning their ears back all night. We ran "one" screen and "one" draw for 15+ yards and never ran them again. Bobcats picked off 4 passes and had every opportunity to win this game in the second half. I would have went for two with 2min to go with how our line was blocking the whole game! 63 was the difference maker for Westy's D. We couldn't block him, and we never adjusted. 28 to 7? - maybe without the five turnovers, bad play calling and three bad onside kicks. The awesome one handed INT hit the ground by the way. White house will struggle next week against Westy's D, but I think White House will win it with their field goal kicker and coaching. Westy vs White House for the District. Congrats to Westmoreland....
  10. Change of plans. The Bobcats are heading to the gravel pit. Basically, the principal said the "the bus is already paid for and your going". Thinking I would get the team fired up, I showed most of the team the video of the Westmoreland player double stomping our starting tailbacks hand(multiple fractures) a couple of years ago, but many started to cry and some wet themselves. I think a few of them actually quit the team. Any five star surf and dive eateries in Westy? Has any bleachers been added or should I bring a chair?
  11. Westy picked over Greenbrier We decided to stay home instead of playing this game. Playing a game on concrete, while getting yelled out by drunk fans, and getting our hands stomped on by players just doesn't sound appealing to us. True story though. During scrimmage this week, we actually had the practice squad get as "unsportsmanlike" as possible to simulate our game for this Friday. Sad but true.
  12. Not sure who that was, but I ran into friends that came over to sit with their brother from Harpeth, as they too graduated from Harpeth. He is a metro policeman, and I sure he will get a kick out of your post.
  13. Second string played a lot. 2nd string tailback had 175 yards in the first half. #44 is our number three fullback, and I for one would like to see him touch the ball more. Definitely an off night for our offense fumbling the football. Home cooking - we win this game by 4 TD's if you were referee . Running up the score - It was 29-7 at the half. Harpeth was in shotgun formation the entire second half with their first string, including an onside kick. That's not exactly conceding defeat in my eyes. Running a reverse on 3rd down and 8 to keep the ball and run out some more clock is a good call. Everyone is beatable on any given Friday. As I said before, turnovers will be the determining factor in our next contest.
  14. Final Score Bobcats 43 Harpeth 14 Bobcats put up over 250 yards rushing in the first half. 2nd string got a lot of play in the 2nd half. You got your championship game Posty!
  15. It depends on the game plan and the pace of the game. As I said before, if the Bobcats try to go toe to toe, ground and pound, smash mouth, clock killing strategy, then it is a low scoring game that goes either way - 1 TD or less. If you consider that a blowout, then yes. If we spread the ball around and keep Westy's D guessing, then we win by at least 2 TD's. If you consider that a blowout, then yes. Ultimately, a game like this will be decided on turnovers.
  16. I would have gone to the White House game if it were played at home. Open invite to Westy to come on down to Greenbrier for homecoming this Friday. Undefeated Harpeth Indians will be in town this week. It is hard to look ahead to the Westy game, but I am sure it will be a good one. The Bobcat defense is playing really well. Our special teams is the best I have seen in a loooong time. The offense is averaging over 350 yards a game and has 7 or 8 playmakers to choose from. If we spread the ball around and keep your defense guessing, then we roll big in this game. If we, ground and pound, as we did in the White House game, this will be a one TD win or loss for the Bobcats. Either way, I believe the Bobcats will leave it all on the field.
  17. One of the most lopsided games I have seen in a looong time. Always love the game time atmosphere of playing in Macon County, but this was not even close. Bobcats put up almost 300 yards in the first half to Macon's 60 yards. Mercy clock in the second half, had the game over by 8:30PM. I felt bad for Cheatham last week, but I believe they would beat Macon this year. Bobcats 4-2 will host Harpeth next week for homecoming.
  18. Not much in the way of defensive stats available. Points allowed per game: Harpeth = 10 (includes the forfeit game of zero points) Westy = 11.6 Greenbrier = 12.4 WHouse = 13 Sycamore = 14.5 Heritage = 26 Cheatham = 26
  19. Your right. Greenbrier is actually a little higher in rushing and passing. Most of these stats are sent in late night on Friday and may get readjusted later by coaches, but they are pretty close.
  20. 21. The Bobcats looked strong in the first half. It was a good district win, but I think we put the cruise control on a little too long in the second half. I like to see a little "ground and pound" now and then, usually when you are burning up the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, but the rest of the game needs to be "run and gun" played like you are down by a TD or two, especially with the current talent on the field. I thought I was watching a Jamboree game in the second half. I am pretty sure we ran the same play 4 times in a row on one drive! Cheatham is gonna have a tough rest of the season. Bobcats travel to Macon County next week.
  22. I was thinking about this last week. In years past, White House has gotten out of zone players from White House Heritage. It seems like someone mentioned years ago that all you had to do is pay $100, and you could go to White House. Is this still in place? It seems like a lot of the athletes that were jumping over to White House are starting to stay at Heritage, with all the new facilities. Anyone else notice this? How do you think it will impact the Blue Devils?
  23. Another close game. Both defenses were solid, but we definitely did not spread the ball around on offense. #38, #7, #5, #44, and #30 have got to get the ball in their hands. Not only to get some fresh legs carrying the ball, but take some focus off our work horses. Same offensive scheme as last week. Full back up the middle, tailback off tackle. Disappointing to know that we have better talent than Lipscomb and White House and came out with losses. Kudos to the student bodies of both teams, who made some serious noise last night.
