  1. Duggan Hahn is not playing this year for West HS in Knoxville. She is playing in the Red Bull National League with a team out of Atlanta. Ashley Howarth / Forward for Bearden HS. Last time I looked was the leading scorer for Bearden HS. Meredith Lee / MF for Webb. Did not play freshman year. Jessica Duggar / MF for Central HS in Knoxville. Maddie Cline / MF for Powell HS. Jessica Mayo / Forward for Sevier County. Cabriel Rader / MF for Lenoir City HS. Ah, when I need to think of the players I have seen that stood out I can't. I'll add more as I remember.
  2. Remember when I said "you can't trust Pre-Extra stats...as they are sometimes wrong"? Can someone tell me if the score of the Maryville-Bearden game is correct or incorrect? PE has the score 6-0 in favor of Maryville. Oak Ridge 4 Powell 0 Karns vs. Webb rescheduled for today, 5:30 at Karns.
  3. That in my opinion club coaches assisting should happen more then it does. I know further West across the Mississipi the larger clubs have their players sign contracts that if they are chosen to play for the TOP team in that club they will not play high school. It can work, but both parties are going to have to swallow some pride and come together for the good of the game and the players we both coach. THere are positives to both environments.
  4. I can only speak about the area I live. That being south of Knoxville, in Loudon County. Lenoir City HS has four that I know play club soccer and maybe six at the most. Most of their team plays AYSO. Loudon is even less then that as they have three. Most of them also play AYSO or have never played. Alcoa has very few club players. I don't have numbers for them so going by what their coach said on a thread not to long ago. In Roane County, Kingston HS has few, Harriman I would dare say has none and Rockwood I would venture to say is in the same situation. In Monroe County, Sweetwater probably has the largest % of club players, while Sequoyah HS and Tellico Plains have mostly AYSO. Sequoyah's program has been around much longer then Tellico Plains, but I believe Sweetwater was where soccer began in that county back in the 80's. I don't know this for fact but I would say alot of the girls in these more rural high schools do play basketball and softball in the spring. If they are playing soccer it is AYSO and indoor in the winter. But to say this is any more unfair are forgetting a great number of basketball teams field players who play travel basketball and the same for softball and baseball. Tennis is the same and is becoming more and more like club soccer whereas you represent a particular racket club. Sports now a days isn't like it was when we grew up. I know that is stating the obvious, but almost every sport is year-around and becoming more and more specialized. It is tough on players in the rural areas, but can be done. Most clubs have scholarships available to help with cost and it does take a change in priorities from a family standpoint. The families "together time" is at soccer contests instead of the movies on Fridays nights. But in the long run it can help a family get their child into college both by helping encourage the child to keep grades up which could lead to academic scholarship and every year scholarships at colleges not given out because the talent pool is not there to award them. The same for golf, track and so on. I know if a child has that kind of drive and commitment then the travel to get them the best training can be done. Is it the best system out there, probably not...but it is what it is for now.
  5. Yes, BigG...Getting those licenses are hard and expensive. I have not done any of the NSCAA Courses, excpet goalkeeping, and hope to go for my "A" very soon. Good Luck to Woodeng and thanks for noticing TN Girls Soccer. I just got back from Coaching a United States team in Holland. People don't take the girls game very seriously in Europe and that is a shame. I have friends in England and they tell me all the time "girls don't play football"
  6. Soccer67 That post was not even fair to Woodeng. He never once said the other teams he watched did or dind't play soccer "the right way". To imply the man doesn't know what he is looking at or may not know how to coach is incredulous. He was simply noting that a school, not known for soccer, could have the understanding of the game without having some club influence. I think it's great and Chuckey Doak fans should take that as a compliment. He asked for some input, as I read it, about this team which would let him know the teams background.
  7. Who and how do you know this? I spoke with parents of the Greenville Program and they knew of no school talking to her. LIke I said in my post, I did not know if she was or wasn't a newcomer. If there are schools talking to her then good for her. She will be a real prize for some coach.
  8. Does anyone know is Alcoa and Maryville played last night? If so what was the score? Also Gattlinburg Pittman and Anderson County score?
  9. CAK 6 Lenoir City 0 Loudon 3 Oneida 7 Karns 6 Clinton 1 (Karns may be somewhat of a surprise this fall. We will see if they are ow that they are starting to get into the hard part of their schedule)
  10. Yes, I did see them. I don't know many of their names so I didn't list them. you are more then welcome to post them since you most likely know them. I did know the keeper, who was not a starter last year, Jennifer Lee and Catheriine Grabenstein and those two got alot of playing time last year so I would not consider them newcomers. You say seasoned Colleriville team...are they an upper classman filled team or young? No one has answered that for me so any information will be helpful.
  11. I have to agree as I don't know alot of the middle and west Tennesse teams. I do think that Houston and Collierville are VERY, VERY close and I would put Collierville ahead of Bearden. My reasoning comes from this...Bearden has not been really tested yet. West is rebuilding somewhat, but still good. CAK is again good, but young and trying to find that consistent lineup..but not there yet. Father Ryanis ranked but can't keep up with talent at Bearden. Dobyns-Bennett is still trying to find what works for them. Collierville showed some great stuff against Farragut and Oak Ridge. I get the ties were not great for them, but they still looked good. Inconsistent would be the difference in my opinion for putting them second to Houston. I don't know...is Collierville a young team? Again I don't know anything about Brentwood or Franklin so if I am off it is out of lack of information on those teams.
  12. I was at no less then eight games and saw two in one game. It was the Powell vs. Henry County game. Both were missed. For the most part the games were well officiated. But I did see alot of fouls in the box and they were either NOT called or brought outside the box. Those were the only two PK's I saw.
  13. I did not see the two ties Collierville had. I do believe they were the best team in the tournament for alot of reasons. But based on those two ties I would say they may have some trouble with being consistent game after game. I did see the Oak Ridge game vs. Collierville match and I do know after Collierville scored in the beginning of the second half he did play alot of his bench. Not a knock on Oak Ridge, but it was evident Collierville was trying some people at different positions. The Oak Ridge keeper as I pointed out earlier was the differnce in that game. She saved some shots that were goals on anyone else. Cudos to MIss Fritts. If there is a difference in the two teams, Houston and Collierville, it would be Houston is consistent. They played each game very well and at a high level.
  14. Just some observations from the Katie Hunter Tournament concerning some freshman or otherwise new players. Greenville has a great goalkeper, Anna Stroud. Greenville graduauted their goalkeeper last year and this young lady played great in her first year as a starter. Another young lady that plays for Greenville is Patience Leonard. She is a senior and no one knows if a college is even looking at her. Great quick decisions, foot skills, works hard to track back and win the ball. Her style of play fits her name. If I were putting together an All-Tournament team she would be in the top 11. Don't know how much play time she has had or a newcomer she is..but some college is missing out on a jewel. A freshman that is doing great in a tough situation is Rebecca Perkins. She is the goalkeeper who had to step in at Farragut for Megan Buzzeo. Being a freshman and her back line not comfortable with her yet is huge. Against Houston she made some saves that kept the game close. She is very smart and if learns to read the game can put herself in better positions to make easier saves. In time she could be special for the Lady Admirals. Two players on Powell that are freshman and doing well are Amanda Huffaker, goalkeeper, and Mali Collins. These were some players that caught my eye. There were others but I don't know their names or if they are really newcomers.
  15. I agree with manoamano about the Katie Hunter Tournament. Great sportsmanship and some good soccer. I stayed there all day Saturday, left at 11:15pm when Oak Ridge was done playing Collierville, and back there at 8:30am Sunday to watch some teams I had not the previous day. Houston won the tournament, but I thought Collierville was by far the best high school team I have seen. Great technical ability...passing, receiving was crisp and under complete control. Their tactical understanding was terrific. Houston has some great athletes and were good also. I would love to see a game between those two teams. OR vs. Collierville was the best game I watched in the tournament.
  16. Collierville 2 Farragut 0 Greenville 1 Colllierville 1 Greenville 3 Briarcrest 0 Houston 5 Greenville 0 Powell 0 David Lipscomb 2 Powell 1 USN 0
  17. You guys are absolutly correct about Webb. I forgot about them also. I know they are not in the A/AA Classification so it didn't cross my mind. Are the in the Div. 2 schools or what? Refresh my memory please. In my overall I put Webb ahead of Catholic and move everyone else down one which would knock Sweetwater off of mine. I think CAK is good based on how they played with Farragut, but time will tell if they can move ahead of West and Maryville. Do they play both of those teams?
  18. 19. I have not seen either team. Of course you know Martha Hall is NOT coming back from Florida. I have heard ,through some of my players on Webb, that Catholic is nursing some injuries. That is all I know about Catholic. If anyone else knows more then please reply. Yes, that score did surprise me also.

  21. I am only going to reply this time and then this post is done since the game has been played. First off this post was Loudon vs. CAK...Outcome? Anyone that knows me knows I only deal in facts. I simply gave what my opinion was and that was CAK would win easily. Do you think the Loudon Coach, other parents or my daughter were really surprised? My daughter plays with alot of those CAK players and knew exactly what the outcome would be without any unforeseen events. I mean that is why we play the game on the field not on paper. I support her and any team she plays on 100%. I cheer for them every chance I get. But as for someone who has coached and played the game for 27 years I do understand the meaning of mis-match. Secondly...I was not saying that because Loudon had only three players that played competitively that they had no chance. Was a simple oberservation that the all round talent at CAK was greater then at Loudon who had alot of players who have NEVER played. As I said earlier alot of the Loudon girls don't want to play college. They play to have fun, be part of a team and play some soccer and that is just FINE! Most play with alot of heart and try their hardest and applaude that ALL DAY!! But to say that I was making this a contest about how many competitive players a team has is really over doing it and trying to find only negative "Powerbar". I agree with "Love of the Game" in that it does take a team. But it sure helps to have experienced players, AYSO or Club, who understand the game at this age to make it work. I have given them a break "Love of the Game" and understand exactly where they are in the Girls High School Soccer Universe. Please don't add or read into more then what I or anyone says. I NEVER SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE TALENT....YOU SAID I DID. IF YOU ARE GONNA POST...GET IT RIGHT! The talent on that team is made up mainly in the sophomore and junior class. From what my daughter has told me 3/4 of the freshman have never played, never kicked a soccer ball. That doesn't bode well for the future...DOES IT?!!! Thirdly...Who would I score brownie points with? The parents who have players on CAK that I coach? They emailed me to ask what I thought. The players, her friends, even emailed my daughter to ask her opinion. We gave them an honest opinion of the game and they all seemed fine with it. Lets see CAK...State Champs vs. Loudon...THIS ISN'T HOOSIERS. I AM OUT!!!
  22. I agree with you cleansheet. Oak Ridge is clicking right now? Is it that they are clicking or padding stats? Three wins and 36 goals against teams that have a combined record of 2-10 I believe. I don't have records in front of me now so don't quote me on that. Some poster said on one of the boards here recently " scores like that help no one and prove nothing". If I coach that team not one starter sees the field much in the first half and none the second half. Even Anson Dorrance has a 9-0 mercey limit. Get the girls on the field that later in the season may have to play a vital role in your success because of some injuries to your key players. Oh, you may not get the big scores but long term it may be that Super Sub you played and coached now that wins it for you later.
  23. Seymour only beat the soccer powerhouse Sequoyah 3-2. I agree better then Anderson County, not sold on better then Sevier County, but SC is inconsistent. I think Powell has more players in key spots than Seymour. Time will tell. West beats Seymour 3 or 4-0. In my humble opinion.
  24. Lenoir City 4 Anderson County 3 Powell 7 Clinton 0 CAK 7 Loudon 0 Alcoa 7 Rockwood 1 Seymour 3 Sequoyah 2 Gibbs 3 Greenback 2 Webb 5 St. Celcilia 0
