  1. His departure had nothing to do with the money. Scott West loved doing what he did for Maryville, regardless of the money.
  2. With Coach West gone, will there be video from Skeeter Dome?
  3. What time is graduation? After dark or before the sun goes down?
  4. Could the coaching hires have something to do with available "teaching" position? That may be why they've hired several from inside the system.
  5. April 27 on one question, idk on the other.
  6. Other schools probably do similar things but this is still a feel good story about an evening the Rebels provide special education students. https://www.thedailytimes.com/news/maryville-football-welcomes-special-education-students-for-rebel-experience/article_88adda88-7c00-5134-9c28-914ac5e85708.html?utm_campaign=blox&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR2EYePfP69DK-XrZOUKC6TF7bkCfCp6nCGk29k6K8u1Af_HZbnNbFoFkHY
  7. Can high school players wear a duplicate number as long as they're not on the field at the same time (like college)?
  8. The Heritage youth program is on very solid ground. Two really good guys making that program go! This is where they should start their build. If they get those kids playing for "Heritage" at a young age then maybe they'll keeping playing and stay at Heritage. William Blount's youth program is in the birth stage (and maybe not really there yet). Lots of WBHS zoned youth playing in other youth programs or not playing football at all. I wish the best for both schools.
  9. Agreed for the most part. The "quality" coaches would need to stay aroundlonger to have any chance for long term success. I will say that the Heritage youth teams are in maybe the best shape ever. There's a couple (maybe more) high quality guys who have stepped up and are running the Heritage youth league teams. The numbers are WAY up and the retention has been good. The Heritage Pee Wee team played in the Super Bowl championship this past season.
  10. There's at least three former Heritage assistant coaches (under Hammontree) that currently coach at Maryville.
  11. Coach Reeves came to the youth football meeting last week. He is already taking steps to rekindle the WBHS youth feeder program and that's a really good thing for WBHS and the Blount County youth.
  12. No one makes fun (or light) of UGA's gimmick. As long a you win, it's not a gimmick and no one makes fun of it. https://www.redandblack.com/sports/football/georgia-defense-rewarded-with-spiked-shoulder-pads-after-forcing-turnovers/article_cbf96084-97e3-11e7-b1f2-8f9911777d69.html
  13. Heritage feeder programs are really doing well. They've got a couple of motivated guys running those programs for the last few years and all their teams are full of players. I believe that thee Heritage feeder programs are in the best shape they've ever been in. We'll see if it translates to the high school in a few years.
  14. Wrong and the AMS coach lost his job over it. Wrong again. Alcoa's JV usually play Maryville Freshman because they say they don't have enough Freshman only.
  15. I'm hearing that they're already making the revival of their youth football program a priority. That will be good for all of Blount County football.
  16. The numbers in the two Maryville youth feeder programs are still very good. Both 10U programs had full rosters I believe. However, one of the two county feeder programs is doing real well also.
  17. Their struggling feeder programs have collapsed and they didn't have a 2021 season. Those who wanted to play in the WBHS area are either not playing or playing for other feeder programs. They need to get someone young and enthusiastic to revive the feeder programs, too.
  18. 2000 - 2021 = 22 and 24 of the last 25 Thanksgivings.
  19. Undefeated Rebel team went to Ketron in 1972 in the first round of the playoffs and lost 26 - 0. It was cold then too if I remember right.
