  1. Thomas went to a Obion County feeder school up until some point in Jr High. He is still friends with alot of kids in the area. He is a great ball player from rural West Tennessee his name will be on the map after this season.
  2. If MJ doesn't get any bigger offers he needs to play beside Marquis and destroy the OVC at UTM.
  3. I believe I read that Coach Knott resigned as the head coach because health problems? I'm not sure what it was ,but then I guess everything checked out ok and he went to South Fulton.
  4. That's the word. Haskins is a pure athlete who can play quarterback or easily be sitting high on the depth chart at wr or rb. If Coach Jackson's Spread is similar to the one Rich Rodriquez's then Haskins will be a great fit, good legs, strong arm has the tools just needs to be polished on reads and such. Other than that there maybe some others coming out from the school attempting to play the position ,and I'm sure Coach Jackson will through a few other players into the mix. Competition breeds improvement.
  5. I agree. I should have added to my last post at times overtake talent.
  6. 1.Appalachian State over Michigan - No. 5 and pre-season favorite to many Michigan loses to Division 2 App. State in the first game of the season 2.Stanford over USC - Stanford??™s win over USC is the biggest upset ever ??“ USC was favored by 40 points. 3. West Virgina loses to Pitt - in the Bakcyard Brawl, #2 WV heads to Pitt and loses 13-9 in the last game of the season 4. Kentucky over LSU - No. 1 LSU loses to UK in a triple overtime game, 43-37 5. Oregon State over Cal - No. 2 Cal loses with a frosh QB getting sacked on the 10 yard line when all they needed was a field goal to tie 6. Ohio State loses to Illinois - in the 2nd to last game of the season the #1 Buckeyes lose to the unranked Illini at home 7. Syracuse(+37) over Louisville - The second biggest upset also happened this season: Syracuse +37.5 over Louisville. 8. Missouri loses to Oklahoma - again! Oklahoma beats #1 ranked Mizzou in the final game of the season, a game that would've ensured a BCS title game bid 9. Rutgers over USF - #2 South Florida loses to then unranked Rutgers 10.UL Monroe over Alabama I'd say motivation can overtake talent.
  7. Story Here Shawn Jackson has been named The New Head Coach. His resume' gives reasons for excitement.
  8. Wtfoff The figures you posted as facts for up coming freshman going to central are completely ignorant. You are clueless.
  9. Honestly we fill like we will be greeting a new coach by the end of this week. Alot of players felt like there was suppose to be an announcment yesterday during the athletic period. I didn't happen, but then again we almost got released for fear of the rodes freezing over so they may have held of for another day. Rumor is they made an offer to Coach Hill and he turned it down. I've heard a few people say an offer has been made to someone else and accepted. I never heard who though. I did here that after Hill declined that Coach Decker is/was back in the frontrunning, because of popularity and community support. I imagined he was,but rumor has Coach Decker had a "rocky" interview with the A.D. Who knows if there is an announcment or some sort of update. I'll let ya know.
  10. I'll be honest I play for Obion Central. I've play with Zack all the way through the first day the pee wee league got started. I've always played on his team. He never talked about transferring never showed any signs to want to. I don't understand the move on his part. He could be a true gunslinger at QB. The starter this coming year. I guess he wants to have stability, but I don't know what he will play there. It seems he'd have a better chance to showcase his arm with anyone but bowling. He didn't throw the ball with all of the weapons plus Parker last year (not that he needed to to win obviously). It just seems like a loss imo for Zack he isn't a real threat running the ball. And knowledge and timing of the offense will not be better than Chase's considering he lives with the ole ball coach lol. I'm clueless if Zack was recruited I really wouldn't know. I will say he wasn't ever open about moving, a few kids were but after awhile they all pledged loyalty to the program. It's a tough situation for the assistant's that are left and for us players. We wish a hire would be made quickly. A large handful of talented sophomores or soon to be Juniors want to come back to the team. A few were already coming to the after school lifts with us before Driggers resigned. Decker would be great for getting numbers back up. Although all the names in the hat have been pretty much accepted with open arms by the players. If the A.D will get someone in there for us, we will build a team. Especially our sophomore class if we get numbers back. Considering a handful of us started every game including the spring. And at the end most of all of us were playing considerably. If they freshman class keeps its numbers they have potential too. I don't know like I said its a hard situation for everyone. Even though it seems like a re-run. I hope for the best for Gurshick and the other assistants who were asked to resign. And for Driggers (yes one team we can surely out scheme offensively) just a joke Coach if you read this garbage lol. I respect the coaching staff we had my freshman year, and I respect the one we had this year I appreciate the opportunities they gave me to show I could play bigger than I am which appears to small for my position. I hope for the best for Union City, minus one game a season.
  11. I do not think Gurshick is in the running although he is the interim HC. Everyone seems agree Kendal and Decker are in it. I've heard from a pretty decent source that Hill has been interviewed and several "rumors" say he wants a contract for at least the number of years for his kids to spend the rest of there time in one system.
  12. Its rumored that, Chris Hill, Barry Kendal, and Paul Decker. Are top three in no particular order, but that's just county Chatter.
  13. It was more or less just parts of the student section, I think it was honestly in a playful manner. When Logan shot his first free throws everyone booed and he grinned. There isn't really a lot of bad blood against Logan from are students he attended our homecoming after the game and had a good time with his friends at OC. Blake Davis (could be mistaken on name) got a little boo treatment. He played for Central last year until right before the first UC game when he quit and transfered to SF. I never knew he went to Dyersburg. Either way both ex-rebels played pretty well.
  14. Any updates on Coordinators/assistants prospects?
  15. Wow... UC has some pretty impressive names floating around. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Not good news for the kids down the road in troy.
  16. Can anyone Point out the players who are going to be returning that were on either team or honorable mentions. I only know Obion Centrals. Calhoun is a junior, and Clint Jones and Chase Roney are both softmores. The rest are graduating.
  17. Curtis is a beast!!! D-1 prosect for sure. Good luck South Fulton some central fans are pulling for ya.
  18. Central played harder than the score board showed... I was proud that they didn't lay down. Speaking of young talent, I was really watching some of the starting Sophmores. A few catch the eye if you watch them, of course haskins who was taking the snaps out of the spread, is probally the teams best natural athlete. There are others thogh. I really was pleased with the left side of the lines effort. Every pass play or any play to the right, that I would look over there, I'd see Mario Rose (Pre-season allstate) D-1 prospect (correct me if i'm wrong there). Feet shooting straight up in the air. Number 78 who looks about 5'8-5'9 probally 170-180 was blowing him up with cut block after cut block. Number 77 at left guard gave good effort. As the game got out of hand I just watched these younger guys, 78 started both ways at left tackle and defensive end. Then he was on kick, kick return, punt and punt return. He also fought the ball away in the fumble recovery in the first quater, and didn't play to shabby on defense. Two other successful younger guys on d impressed me a linebacker and strong saftey. After a little research to get my facts straight and a little help from the paper. I found all the names, the linebacker is Lucas Fulbright, the SS Clnt Jones, 77- is Blake Boyd and number 78 is Chase Roney, along with Haskins Driggers has this seasons and two more to get these guys stronger, faster and better. I'm excited to see where these guys can go.
  19. This is partially true, but I recall some OC runs straight up the gut that gained alot of yardage...one was an Iso through the three or five hole, where two sophmore's 77 And 78 blew out the DT and chipped of to the playside linebackers. Chase Clanton scored on this play. The only pass I remember Central throwing was a roll out (I think a waggle). It was completed to sophmore Number 21 for a big gain after catch. Lake County blocked well against the pass rush though providing alot of time espically on the first series...from watching the scrimmage in the spring to this jamboree. I wouldn't have known they were the same. I wish the falcons and their new coach the best of luck.
  20. You make some vaild points...The rebs just have a nose to find upsets in troy. SS is a more athletic team with more experience, and on paper should completly destroy Obion Central. But they better not come in thinking they have already won, espically if the boys in troy come in with the mindset "We GET to play Jackson soutside this week". Instead of "Oh crap we have to play southside this week". Like everyone expects them too.
  21. Dyersburg should take the region hands down. On paper they look like a nearly unstopable force on the offensive side of the ball. But the games are played on the field and D-Burg needs a few players to step-up and fill some big shoes on defense. Crockett is going to have another good year, with players not know making a big impact. From what I've heard Coach Pratt's boys look tough as nails. I've heard very little about Covington or Haywood this year, they seem to be flying under the radar, but I wouldn't be suprised if they show up and are in contension for the region. Obion Central has already faced a load of adversity, first losing their entire coaching staff in the winter. Then after the settling in of Coach Driggers and his staff and a good spring minus a scrimmage against Westview, they lost Eric Knott (the Driggers staff offensive OC/OL coach) to Dresden to fill the Head Coaching posistion. Followed by the loss of Logan Parker. The rebels numbers have dropped dramtically and will have to give Softmores and maybe a few freshman considerable playing time, with Juniors being the majority of the starters. Matters more important that football has happened in some of the players family lives as on of the uprising Seniors suffered the loss of his father. On top of the common fact that the Rebels are game to game face better atheletes is enough to make many players just lay down and quit, but the players with all of this adversity will be able to show there charcter. The Rebs will have a tough year ,but don't be suprised if they fight hard and upset one of the better teams in the region.
