  1. I did not say it mattered a lot. I said it was worth 1 TD. It is. And I do agree that it does not matter a lot to good teams. But no one can seriously think it does not matter at all. I may be wrong but I will say again that I think this will be a good match-up tonight and a good ball game to watch. I for one am looking forward to it and hope everyone travels safely to and from the game and all kids stay injury free. On another note, Warriorhead, you're killing me. LOL Braile? Admit it folks, that's funny.
  2. No I am not talking about the officiating, and that comment deserves something like "I am glad to see you are already trying to blame the refs for you losing this game", but I will not stoop to making rediculous comments like that. Now, in a big game with emotion high, I would always say that is worth 1 TD for the home team. I am sure Dunlap will bring a big crowd and I hope they do, just as we always bring a big crowd down there, but there is still home field advantage and everyone that has ever actually played in this ball game would have to agree with that. Go Big Blue!
  3. I have seen both teams play and the truth is this game will be a good match-up. Sequatchie is probably a little faster, but Bledsoe is stronger. This game being played in Pikeville is worth at least a TD for the Warriors. That being said, sorry to burst the bubble for our neighbors to the South, but Bledsoe gets their first win of the season and Dunlap gets their first loss. Final Score Bledsoe-20 Sequatchie-14
  4. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Hey if you are going to be here all week, can I get advanced tickets and how much are they. My wife took me to see some of the Blue Collar Comedy tour last winter for a Christmas present and you are much funnier than they are. Sorry, I have to go now Jeff Fisher is holding on line 2, needs some help breaking down practice film. You understand.
  5. [quote name='BC_WarriorHead' date='Sep 12 2008 - 04:12 AM' post='826851544' You gonna get a win Saturday? Well, we would if we had a head coach that was any good at all. He could be the worst coach of all time or at least in the history of Little Blue. I don't care what that other guy says about being worse-just because he did not score and so far we have, I still say our coach is worse. The assistants are pretty good, if we could just do something about that other guy. But seriously, we are going to play hard and the boys have really worked hard this week, so with a little luck and a break or two along the way, I believe the boys will get a win. In spite of what they have to deal with of a "so called coach". /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  6. Zero tolerance means automatic one year expulsion. If you have a zero tolerance policy for any action and a student breaks it, there is no wiggle room, they are just expelled for one year. Again, I do not know Bledsoe County's policy for hazing and there is no state mandated punishment for this, but Mr. Kiper did tell channel 9 news that "Hazing is the same as bullying, we have a zero tolerance policy". The state only mandates that each system have a policy they do not mandate what that policy is. But to answer your question, zero tolerance carries an automatic one year expulsion.
  7. Now that's funny, I don't care who you are. Why does it matter who anyone is? That makes absolutely no difference and if people wanted others to know who they are on here, they would use their name. Some people may want to keep things private and that should be respected. Or at least that is my opinion and is really not worth much. As far as the media making this sound more serious than it was, everyone knows (and I sure do) the media is going to make anything and everything sound as serious as possible because that is what sells. Good or bad, that is just the way it is. But having said that, Mr. Kiper has stated that hazing took place and thought it was serious to suspend a teacher/coach over this incident without pay. To me, that sounds very serious and again this is just my opinion but I think hazing is a very serious thing. I did however notice that Mr. Kiper said on the news that there was a "zero tolerance" policy for hazing and since he has stated hazing has taken place, how does the punishment not equal that of zero tolerance. Either that is not the actual policy (and of course I do not know what their policy on hazing is) or it has been decided not to follow that particular policy.
  8. Play hard Bledsoe! Bledsoe has been known to go over to Chattanooga and play those teams as major underdogs on more than one occasion and come back with a win. Don't let anyone tell you that we can't compete! I know it is an old saying but it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog that matters. If we go and play Warrior football, hit 'em every play, block til the whistle blows, and don't make mental mistakes, we will be in this game. If our boys do those things, regardless of what the scoreboard says they can walk off the field with their heads up. Remember folks all the upsets that we have all seen over the years, and that any team can beat any other team on any given night. That's why we still play the games!
  9. I know I am biased, but Grundy will not give up that many points. Grundy's defense is tough and they do not care to hit. I agree the ride will be a factor, but Grundy wins this one 14-0. I pray that all teams have safe travels this week and everyone stays injury free.
  10. "Merely a fan of those who are trying to make a difference." That is a very powerful and profound statement. I don't know if that is an original quote or not, but I have never heard it before. Think about that for a moment and that is something we all should be, fans of those "trying to make a difference". Thank you to whomever made that statement.
  11. Bledsoe County Warriors, Grundy County Yellow Jackets, Stone Memorial Panthers, & all the Bledsoe County Little Blue Players. This is the best thread I have seen on here. We should all be in prayer for all kids, and coaches that they would be safe and that the Lord would use them to further His Kingdom.
  12. Remember folks, this one is in Dunlap. The Indians will come out fired up and ready to play for their season and home opener and their new coach. Pigeon Forge better be ready to play football, because if not it could be a long night and a long ride home. Good luck coach and know there are many of us pulling for you all to have a very good year (except for 1 game of course).
  13. Against my own best judgement I am going to weigh in on this situation just a little so people in Cumberland County will at least have the information they need to see what the problem is. When it is said that the school system does not have the money to start school, that is incorrect. All systems operate on a continuing budget from the year before until the new budget for that fiscal year is passed. Each system has until October 1 to submit the new budget to the state and each system is gauranteed to have at least as much money as the year before. The school system has at their disposal at least as much money as they had last year until the new budget is passed at which time they could have additional money but again their total dollar figure can not be lowered from the year before. So again if it is said that they do not have the funds to begin or can't begin until the budget is passed, that is not correct. The school board voted last Friday not to start school until the budget was passed because they want approximately 5 million additional dollars. The state also mandates a minimum amount to fund schools and Cumberland County has always had more than the minimum given to the school system by the county commission (minimums are set through the BEP formula). Also, it is important to note that even though school has not started teachers are being paid as scheduled. I believe they should be as it is not their fault they are not at work, however, again if it is said they do not have the money to start they would not be able to fund the most expensive part of the educational system. So, to conclude do not think the county commission is in any way responsible for school closing or athletics not continuing, the board voted not to start school with the money at their disposal to do so. They simply are using this as a tool to try and force the commission to give them the amount of money they want and again they have always given well above the requirements of the BEP. So, regardless if you think their is enough money being spent on education in Cumberland County or not, if you want school to start, let your school board members know because it is simply their decision. Oh and by the way if there are folks in Cumberland County that do not know my screen name, I am Eric Swafford and of course if I can be of any assistance in this manner whatsoever, just let me know. Again, I am not in any way taking sides, I just want people to know the facts. Plain and simple.
  14. I could list several things here...plays and games that I watched growing up, games that I played in, and games that I have watched since I stopped playing...but the most memorable was watching the last play from the sideline at Whitwell High School, week 10, 1990. That was my last game of my senior year and I stood there beside another player that I had played beside from little league on up and we watched the last play and watched the clock run down for the last 10 seconds and I can still hear him say.....I can't believe it's over. As long as I live I will never forget that and I would do just about anything to be able to play just one more game, even today. I have always heard the saying "There's just nothing like those Friday Night Lights" and there has never been a more perfect statement made. So, most memorable game...my last one. To all the seniors out there...work hard this summer and make every play count this fall!
  15. My only regret is not having just one more game. The last game I played and walking off the field was the hardest thing I ever did. I was not a very good player, but I played as hard as I could and prepared myself as good as I could with the talent I had, but I loved the game and still do. I still get chills when the boys take the field and still "tear up" for the opening kickoff for the first game of the year and still have a hard time watching those seniors walk off the field after their last game because I know the pain they must feel if they have left it all on the field. So, my regret is simple, that I don't have Just One More Game!
  16. I would not miss that one for anything it should be a lot of fun to watch. Say Hi to your folks from me and tell your Dad I am still working on the "bunker" issue for him.
  17. I assume I know who you are and let's set the record straight. YOU laughed about the mud because you all came back and beat us by 1 in 90. Just kidding, it is great to see that you are still above ground and able to take nourishment. I assume that you are still around the mountain somewhere, I hope to be able to come up for a ball game or two and maybe get to a scrimmage this spring if my schedule will let me. I can't comment about the coach's ability (my opinion would be very biased), but I can tell you that he is very excited and will work his tail off for Grundy County. Good luck up there and give me a shout sometime.
  18. Against my own best judgement I am responding to this post as well as several other posts at the same time. First of all, I am not a big basketball fan, I did not play the sport except in elementary school 1 year and on church league teams and I go sometimes to the home games when my schedule allows so I don't claim in any way to be an authority on this subject. Second, I agree that the kids mentioned are good athletes and as far as I know they are all fine young men. But, I want to say this about whether or not anyone care, many people do! I will not discuss what kind of coach Carl Boynton is because that is simply an opinion and I don't think a message board is the place to do that. However, I will say a few things about him (and I know he does not need me to speak for him). I have known Carl Boynton for 34+ years. I went to school with him, played little league with him, and we spent many nights in each others houses growing up. I say all that to say this, I know him and I know that he cares about the basketball team at BCHS. I know that he cares about the kids, and that he does care if they win or lose and I am sure that he does the best he can. I certainly do not mean to offend anyone with this post, but I just thought it was something that needed to be said.
  19. I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, and I know the entire situation with the school system has everyone concerned, but this thread is supposed to be about football. I am sure this situation is very difficult on the administraion, teachers, and the school board and I don't think this is the proper place to discuss it. I know what happens will have an impact on the football program as well as all athletics but again I don't think this is the proper place to be discussing this situation and taking attention away from the kids that should be trying to prepare for next season (which I assume they are already). Again, I know many people feel very strongly about what should take place and I don't wish to offend anyone with this post, it is just one opinion.
  20. Thanks "2024". I know you and your family knows what it is like to be Warriors. It was good to see you and your older bro. the other night, just hate that it had to be under those circumstances. I am sure your getting your boys in the weight room and getting ready for next year and hope everything goes great over there for you as I am sure it will. If I don't get the chance to see any of your folks in the next couple of weeks tell them all Merry Christmas for me and let your Dad know I don't like the "bunker" anymore than he does. He was giving me a hard time about it and rightfully so.
  21. This post will be a little off subject for some folks, but is my thoughts of Bledsoe Football. Bledsoe football is a part of every one of us that ever wore the blue and gold. I am obviously not as old as some posters on here and can't remember the games until about 1980 (with the exception of remembering my cousin Bill's leg getting broke). I remember almost every game from then until now. I missed a few games while I was away in school and a couple of years that I worked away from here, but there is nothing more exciting than a Friday night in Pikeville to me. My son started playing Little Blue this year and before his first game, my wife cried. She is not from around here, but knowing and listening about how Bledsoe football has impacted me and my family over the years she could not wait until that was a part of our son's life. After the last game she cried again, and he has many seasons left to go, but just this one ending was so sad to all of us. After the DCA game, my son cried himself to sleep in the car for the ride home, not just because we lost, but because football for us was over for the year. I promised him we could go watch the last couple of Vol games and he said "thanks Dad but it's just not the same". I guess I understood, because nothing is the same as Bledsoe Football. I ran into one of my former teammates a few days ago that I hadn't seen in years, and it was like we had just played our last game all over again. We talked and remembered specific plays from games from 20 years gone by. I guess I am just saying this... Being a Bledsoe County Warrior is not something you do, Being a Bledsoe County Warrior is a part of who you are. To everyone that has played in the past, you already know that and for all that are playing now... Enjoy every minute of it because nothing will ever take the place of those Friday Night Lights in Pikeville, and as long as I live I will never forget the last time I took that helmet off and how I knew I would never be the same. I know this post is too long and off subject to some, but Bledsoe Football thoughts...There is just nothing like it!
  22. Well, this season is now just a memory, but the next one will be here before we know it. I thought all in all it wasn't a bad year and with a break or two along the way it could have been even better. It looked to me like we had more fans at the games than in the last few years, so apparently more people are getting involved and getting excited about the future of Bledsoe County. I hope the boys have already started preparing for next year and are hitting the weights hard. We had several seniors this year (which is always great to have as many seniors as we had this year) so many underclassman will see playing time next year that don't have a lot of experience yet. I also thought like many others, that for the most part we improved as the year progressed. Cannon was not our best game, but the boys were a little banged up and we had a couple out which hurt us (I thought anyway). But also, Cannon was a pretty good ball club and they played a mistake free game that night from what I saw. Again, I felt pretty good about the season as a whole, but obviously we need to make improvements. At the end of the day, people don't remember how hard we played or about a call or two that could have gone the other way, they remember the wins and losses and this year we just had a few too many games that ended up in the wrong column. So, let's pull together as the football community that we are and continue to push things in the right direction and get ready NOW to make 2008 be one of the best years ever for the Bledsoe County Warriors!
  23. Thanks for the encouragement sent toward the team Coach. You, your brother, and your entire family are a "Class Act". Good luck in your bowl game and Congratulations on a very successful season. I know some parents of a couple of your players and they too hold you in high regards. Tell your older brother hello from me and know there are many of us over here in the valley that are very proud of both of you and what you have accomplished. Again, thank you for the words of encouragement sent this way. GO BIG BLUE!
  24. I just looked at the clock here in my office and our boys are probably starting to bounce off the walls and hopefully everyone else is too. I hope there is a big crowd down town to send them off in a couple of hours. Hopefully, I can get loose to be there, but Tammy and Zachary will be there for sure. I hope everyone is fired up and ready, and PLEASE drive safe heading to Nashville. Let's have a big and LOUD crowd tonight and PLAY HARD WARRIORS and GOOD LUCK COACHES! GO BIG BLUE!
  25. I don't know how many folks from Bledsoe have seen DCA, and I haven't in a few years, but I have seen them in action several times. They were at camp with us before my Freshman and Sophomore years. They were the same then as they are now. They were very well coached, very disciplined, and very methodical in everything they did. I also watched from the press box and helped spot against them my brother Jim's first year as a head coach. It was his first year as a head coach and DCA won the state championship that year. He had them in the first round of the playoffs and played very close through 3 quarters before his boys just ran out of gas. Having me in the press box for him, you know he did not have much of a staff. He only had 1 assistant at the time and the program had not won hardly at all for the 5-6 years prior to him getting there. But anyway (that has little to do with this Friday), I say that to say this...I have played against them, watched them in person and on film, many times. They are as they always have been...well coached, well prepared, well disciplined, and will be ready to play. However, I am sure that we have played teams with just as much talent as they have and if we go ready to play, we will be in this one with the chance to beat them. I am taking nothing away from DCA at all, they have a very good program year in and year out and will not be easy to get around, but my blood bleeds blue and I think we will be in this one and know we will be if we go ready to play like we can. I am looking forward to it and my wife and son are already fired up about it. SO, work hard this week Bledsoe and let's go get 'um!
