  1. total points (i only have the top three teams) MTJ: 9,270 *top 3 in all categories PHS: 8,800 *top 3 in all but 3 categories DCHS: 8,750 less than 500 points separated the top teams. i think Lewis Co was 4th followed by Cheatham, Riverside, Creekwood,.. correct me if i am wrong.
  2. i will not put the players's names but... Lewis county did well in the speed portion of the event with an overall 2nd place finisher and they had two overall powerclean winners in the 220 and 240 division. with the 240 division winner claiming the best Clean of the day with a 290 pound clean. the BEST bench was 340 from PHS the BEST 40 was 4.6 from RHS (Riverside) i believe 8 schools total.
  3. District 9AAA represented well at this weightlifting compitition! Mt Juliet 1st and Portland 2nd with DC placing 3rd. Bench King from Portland (two of the top three benchers from Portland. 1 of the top Cleans from Portland and one of the top three 40's. Great job by the Host Dickson Co! Top notch job by thier staff and players.
  4. Fact is, there are three other teams in Tennessee that run single wing as their offense. Huntington, portland, mcewen, and a really good middle school in Onieda.
  5. Try Portland high school in summer county. They need an assistant coach according to the news
  6. Even with 9 defenders in the box, gallatin could not slow down the panthers and big penalties against the panthers led to the gallatin scores. This game could have been a shutout, that Portland defense gets stronger every week. Would love to see a home playoff game!
  7. Great Post... one small correction... Portland runs Single Wing Offense.
  8. i am looking forward to finally coming home for thanksgiving and watching the Wildcats play some football... hadnt seen them play live in a long while but i believe this is the year of the CATS... gotta take care of West Carroll first. Go CATS. (wish the panthers were still playing)
  9. we got there a couple minutes late and had to sit at the end next to the concessions. i saw you but couldnt get your attention, talked to Randy and several after the game. Caught up with calvin and some other former players. depending on how far you get in the playoffs... we may see ya agian, when we come home to visit again.
  10. PC and WC should be a great game. i had a chance to watch the Perry county and MTP game last week with our whole district off for fall break. i was impressed with Jacob Tucker and his offensive dominance (1A football is just too easy for this kid) Mt Pleasant had plenty of chances to score but shot themselves in the foot every time they sniffed the red zone... PC's secondary had plenty of holes in it but no one from mtp could catch. they dropped three would be touchdowns! and snapped another one off the facemask of the qb 20 or so feet in the air. As a coach i could feel the frustration from Coach Smith's sideline. As far as the WC/PC game, should be the first real test for both teams. a barn burner for sure... hope to get to see them play again in the playoffs.
  11. i think you should change your screen name to NON-purplepantherpride!
  12. Awesome website and Coach Hood seems to be a well organized coach and program but he was wrong on one point in his comments... The Tennessean picks Clarksville Acadamy to Beat Portland @ Portland. He played the underdog role a little early.
  13. Wayne county has been playoff contenders for a long time with a very good tradition built on the split back veer. (triple option is just a fancy name for it) A. Rice will be good at it but maybe throw in some SWO as well. (single wing that is) they have taken a different form to fit rice's ablities but the transition back will not be difficult.
  14. hey, coach bradley here. i saw where you asked about portland, i was not the head coach at portland, i was the offensive coordinator for the last 5 games of this season. my last head coaching gig was at westmoreland where i got replaced because their old head coach wanted his job back and they gave it back to him. he was there for 17 years. really wierd stuff. good luck this week.

  15. my friend, i am not questioning you football knowledge (direct snap is single wing) but if you were at that game last night... you should have witnessed straight up true single wing football. you would have seen a striaght power series, at least one drive with half spin series. last night they ran the ultimate in single wing when they ran the buck lateral series. (i am sure you know that is when the center direct snaps it to the fb who then fakes wedge to hand the ball to the blocking back, who then pitches the ball back to the tb on a sweep.) the two previous weeks you would have saw the full spin as you mentioned, but good coaching is keeping your gameplan different from week to week but i am sure you would know that. unbalanced line would have put all those defensive linemen that outweighed portland by 900 lbs on the line with them... but you probably know that as well. had you talked to any of those kids you would also know that they do believe in what the team is doing. had you listened to them on the radio any of the last 5 weeks you would have heard them talking about how much fun they are having. had you been in the locker room listening to the seniors give speeches you would know that they ARE PORTLAND FOOTBALL. they have a long way to go... they installed the offense for the last 5 weeks, it was a "coaching" decision that obviously has worked. no one is saying that 1-9 is awesome but no many teams go from 0-10 to 10-0, or even 5-5... as you said it takes a lot of work but changing coaches doesnt help that at all, if anything it is a step back. IMO.
  16. First of all... RIP Royce Corbett... i will miss that kid. one of the hardest working kids i have ever met. i will bring a different perspective on this rivalry. i played for Rice at Waynesboro and coached with him for 4 years at Perry county. one of our former players is now coaching at PC. Rice left and went back to wc, if anyone says it is not a big rivalry has not played in the pc football era. it may be one sided in the win section but wc doesnt want to be the first cats team to lose and pc wants to be the first to beat a wc team, especially a Rice coached wc team. when i was coaching at Perry county we called this the bragging bowl over the buffalo... 1 night for 364 days of bragging. we almost had em in 2006, no defense in that game against the veer, but they couldnt stop Chris Reed and that single wing either. ran out of time in the 4th quarter at the 15 yard line driving to score the tieing touchdown. i wish this game was on thursday or saturday so i could watch it... as it is i will be tied up with Mt. Juliet. Tucker or Rice... i would take either one of them... no i would take both, in the backfield snapping to either of them. SWO that would be deadly. i will not predict a winner but i predict PC will have a huge gate in this one. C.A.T.S
  17. off season is for sleeping CATS win BIG
  18. Tennessee was undisiplined and out of thier lanes on that play. a well designed misdirection play will cause the defense to be out of position. that conversation is going in circles. anyway... i will predict that this will be a close game, low score, special teams will be the difference... may even be decided by a missed extra point. vikings win. go Z-man
  19. people, just read the papers to find your answers. the men involved all gave comments. read the Bible to find the Truth. (Jesus is the one to set you free) to answer some of SEVENS questions (acusations)... be more specific. sounds like you are accusing coach of stealing. are you talking about the nearly $80,000 dollars of new donated weight equipment for weight room? or the new $10,000 Sprikler system? or the new 6 man Rogers sled? or the new game jerseys? or the $5,000 spent on top dressing and repair on the field? or the 30 practice balls... didnt get the chance to order new game balls. field house was dirty due to major flooding (twice) one in may and one in june. there was a cleaning date set in may for July 24 and 25th... check. three players had physical forms not in due to confusion on the new date rule... my bad. there were no discipline problems from my players. everyone has moved on so...why hasnt Hartsville posters..i logged in to check on how the players did at the scrimmage at Tenn tech. talk about that... i am sure you hartsville posters will know about that situation as well.
  20. As the only 4 year starter on that team, he deserves a winning season!!
