  1. Less Travel? For Who? I know the premis for the new format was suppose to be based on "Less Travel" but everyone in our district and and most of the neighboring districts, travel increased. And for the top teams around in East Tennessee, it has become a scheduling nightmare trying to find games within a 2 hour travel window! When we had a 9 team Region and 5 classifications, life was so much better!
  2. My understanding is No, all losses to Signal stand on those teams records. Officially Signal is 0 - 2 right now and will end the season showing only playing 4 games
  3. The Wildcat Cafe' (concession stand at the game) is pretty darn good! some of the best Hamburgers around!
  4. , That is too funny! You were correct in what you told Ole 22 tonight!
  5. For someone that is so close to his family, I don't think I would be posting about a personal problem....I know for a fact that if his wife had been hired to teach, he would not have left. Get you facts straight! And btw, today is a different era than when John was at McMinn....a good feeder program is critical to being successful.....No Bull!
  6. I hear what you are saying...but it can happen...it has happened in other places. Ask Derrick Davis how important Rocky King and the Jr. program is to Polk Co...where they are taught the same system Polk runs. Ask Maryville and Alcoa how important their feeder programs are. Every Successful program out there has a great feeder program...Central girls basketball is a perfect example. There is enough tallent on campus to be competitive, look at the size of both the Junior teams, where are they when they are Jr. and Sr. at Central? Having senior classes in football that are 5 to 8 members will kill a program. Coach D's good teams had 12 to 15 member Senior classes....Good food for thought!
  7. I absolutely love all the comments on here....ajw, justwin,Canadian, old warhorse, blitzbuc....man...it is old home week! I would love the two communities to FINALLY come together in football. We have done it in all the other sports at Central...why is it so hard with football? Coach Derrick tried his best to get it done...almost happened too! Whenever that time comes, Central will be competitive in football like all the other sports.
  8. McMinn County is pretty good this year.....they got 6 players that can go low on any given day....
  9. yep...soph---soph---freshman---along with soph Masingale, I like our chances for the next couple years...just sayin'
  10. Hey Warhorse.....good to see you back on here!!
  11. Congrets to the Chargerettes! Sorry for Cannon Co...It is a crying shame that the two best teams in the final 4 had to endure the pitiful officiating that was in this game! Close to 50 fouls called...WOW! neither team could get into any rythem or let their best players play!! Pretty sad TSSAA, pretty sad...
  12. My team prevailed a short while ago but it is a shame that in the Final 4, probably te two best teams could not play their game because of the foul situation....both sides took a major hosing! How do you call close to 50 fouls in a game like this?? Sorry for Cannon Co, happy for the Chargerettes...but still sad the game was called as it was. Oh, yea...Chargerettes in a close one IF they get to play!
  13. Most of the girls that come through the system are products of a very good AAU program...McMinn Fire. They also have a great S.& C. program. Team chemistry along with the coaching staff, Coach Johnny Morgan, (2011 TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee) and Coach Joe Young, are two of the best in the business. Central teams are never one dimentional either, there are a number of girls that can score and if you don't play defense...you don't play!
  14. Hate to say it but Polk is over rated this year, seen them 3 times so far and wouldn't place them in top 10 right now.
  15. Jared Allen from Polk County...plays both ways and does all the kicking. Don't know his stats, but one unbelievable athlete.
  16. With the injuries to the Warrior receiving corps, Alcoa wins by at least 3 td's this time.
  17. I would beg to differ on the tallent issue....I will put up AAA Alcoa against ANY team in the state right now! The main difference is in most cases there may be a few more tallented players in the larger divisions simply be shere numbers in the school that part I agree with you. That said, Allen and Hargrove could play for any team I have seen this year.
  18. Thats what happens when you get out of the "Middle School" schedule and FINALLY play a quality opponent!! Basin searched 3 states for weak opponents to play....Thats why they refused to add Polk Co to their schedule next year.....just an outsider lookin' in!!
  19. Talked to someone who was there...and not a Polk fan...Polk swarms to the ball, but didn't see hits after the whistle. I have seen them twice and they don't trash talk...just get after you! And IF that is the problem, he should have taken it up with the refs...not the Polk staff.
  20. Coach Satterfield has been around for a long time and was on the "giving" end way more that the receiving end of a thrashing. He should realize that 1) Polk starters haven't played past halftime but a couple of times and they need, this late in the season, to get playoff minutes in. 2) The onside...again, he should understand that sometimes you do things to give down the road opponents something to prepare for. I am very disappointed if he didn't have the courtesy to shake hands...poor sportsmanship may be why some folks in this district has Sequoyah at the top of the list of who they want to beat the most!
  21. Thet are extremely good at running the ball, very disciplined...but don't creep up in run support, they will burn you bad throwing it. Best offense I have see this year in our area!
  22. Always knew Ole Wingman was a Wildcat!! Polk by four TD's at least...only difference is the starters may have to actually play 3 quarters this week...
  23. Oh well, no sense talking anymore to a basketball hater. By the comments you post I figure you are close to the wrestling team since you are also complaining about gym usage to the County Elementery School tournament where BTW...Central benefits from hosting. I do gotta throw the B S flag on the statement "I never wanted to tear down anything that is believed to be successful..." What do you think you are doing ratting out what you think is illegel in practice schedules? Either back the school, offer some positive suggestions or move on....please!
  24. I said pretty successful...not dynasties. Both girls and boys basketball have been to the state and I am sorry for folks like you that feel life as you know it is not complete without the almighty Gold Ball! Baseball, soccer, golf teams, past three years of football, all of these sports have had success. Those kids who put in the time and sweat feel like they have been successful. Central has had more kids get scholarships the past 10 years than McMinn, again pretty successful. BBall is notg God...but find any other sport that puts in the time and energy that these two teams do developing players. I hate bashers who have nothing constructive to bring to a chat site, all you seem to want to do is tear down what IS successful instead of finding out what works for hem and try to duplicate it in the football program!
