Central being ranked #3 this early in the season means nothing. In 2006 the Tigers were 8-0 and were ranked number 3.. Rankings are good moral boosters for the opposing team to want to beat you even more thats about all rankings are good for unless its the BCS.. Especially when our region hasn't won a playoff game since Notre Dame in 2005.. So rankings mean nothing.. Central is good this year and Meigs is down and Central should win even though everyone who loves an upset hopes they lose. Rayl wanted to be on a better team no doubt.. He was happy when he had a great QB in Roberts to throw him the ball and Meigs won the Region and he was happy when he had a running back in Mobriant to hand the ball to and Meadows to throw too last year. Talent is down at Meigs now and he left, Team player I don't think so, but that's a decision he will have to live with for the rest of his life. Hope its what he really wanted and best of luck to both teams Friday, it will be a rivalry but I know Coach Eller has enough class and Control of his team to keep his players from being unsportsman like. Why are you surprised about Meigs? They have won 25 plus games the past two years as well as back to back District Champs?

Wow Polk lost to Tellico and Central is having trouble hitting the ball, Sounds like District 5-AA is down. How is Meigs doing are they still the dominating team in that district because from the sounds of it it appears to be that Polk and Central are having some trouble?

Baseball is unlike any other sport, with a decent pitcher any team can win on any given day, hope Sequoyah gets a good pitcher to replace Mosier because that's the only way I see them being competitve in this District.

Rockwood is in Roane County, Tennessee. It's off of HWY 27 a little south of Harriman. They are a 1-A School who has made it to several State Tournaments.

You must not have seen very good baseball then if one of the best players you have ever seen is currently playing at Polk Co. He hasn't been mentioned in the past few years. Bean, Beard and Davis are the only names that I have heard of mentioned in recent years from Polk Co. Or is this Qualls kid a freshman or sophomore?

I think the M.V.P. would be Howie Meadows. Great hitter and is one of the best if not the best catcher in the district. He may even pitch some this year.

How is Will Matthews? Is he going to be healed to play for the Cherokees this year?
