The junior sunbelt tournament is for Underclassmen!

Randy Culpepper from Sheffield hasn't been mentioned for AA. He recently signed with UTEP. Maurice Miller for AAA. Brandon Wright for Division 2. These are the best players that I have personally seen play this season.

He really only scored 83 points. According to the TSSAA web site the only student to score more than that was Danny Boyd from Camden on January 6, 1961 at 104. I hear he is currently enrolled at LeMoyne-Owen, trying to get his life on the right track.

I would like to add Hauns Brereton from Bartlett High School to this list. Hauns is an exceptional athelete averaging over 20 ppg. He is also the leading rebounder for his team. Hauns is exceptional off the court as well. He is ranked number 6 in his class of over 350 students. Hauns is active in his church. He also is an Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project was unique. His project was a historical trail through the Bartlett Historic district. He prepare brochure's that can be picked up at the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce and other places through out the city. Gomab, are these in order? If so, I must agree...I would also like to add that I feel at least 3 of these players have been very underated in the state this year. Those being Hardaway, Robinson, and Herring (in that order). At least Herring has one more year to prove to everyone what a fantastic player he is. I wish all of these guys the best for their futures.

If there were any teams outside of West TN that deserved to be recognized...then I'm sure Gomab would give them credit. History can't be argued with. West TN has always dominated. How many players in the NBA (the real measuring stick for talented players) are from West TN vs. East TN?

Bartlett is a very tough gym to play in. Of course with a gym full of home team fans almost anywhere can be tough for visiting teams.

One not on the list is Millington's DeWayne Robinson. He is averaging between 25 and 30 per game. (According the Commercial Appeal) I've forgotten the exact stat. [Edited by deetone23 on 2-6-03 6:21P]

A lot of schools charge $5 but some as much as $6 per game. I have 3 children and this can get very expensive. My husband is a coach so we get in home games free. However, when we travel to away games the TSSAA pass only gets in 2 of us. Most schools still make me pay for 2 kids even after telling them I'm the coach's wife. Then there are the high prices at the concession stands. Being supportive of my husband and his team can be very expensive. I wish there was a family pass for coach's families, because that is less money I have to spend on their high priced food. The schools would get the same amount of money out of us either way.

One of the best sophmore's in the state is Brandon Allen from Bartlett. He is very strong and a great rebounder. He can also score. He is definitely one to watch.

Gomab, you have several kids from the Shelby/Metro area, however Keith Hardaway deserves much higher than #19. He still leads the Shelby/Metro in scoring average ppg. He is by far a more outstanding player than Bolton's Sommerset. The times I have seen Sommerset play this year he has not played well at all. Keith is by far the best player in 14-AAA. Maybe you should try to see him play so that you could really appreciate the caliber player that he really is.

I sure hope he isn't going back to Bartlett next year...my husband took the assistant's job...that would make me very hungry...and I wasn't planning a diet...hee hee

The kid from Millington's name is DeWayne Robinson. He is averaging a little more than 25 ppg. He is right behind Keith Hardaway at 29 ppg in scoring for the Shelby/Metro. Just a note about the Munford/Millington game. This game is as big a rivaly as Bartlett/Bolton. When teams like these get together...records are out the window. It can be anyone's game in a rivaly game.
