  1. The junior sunbelt tournament is for Underclassmen!
  2. Randy Culpepper from Sheffield hasn't been mentioned for AA. He recently signed with UTEP. Maurice Miller for AAA. Brandon Wright for Division 2. These are the best players that I have personally seen play this season.
  3. Raleigh-Egypt at Bartlett rescheduled for Saturday the 10th.
  4. Most 3-Point Field Goals Attempted in a Career 1304 Taurean Moy B.T. Washington 1998-2001 Most 3-Point Field Goals Attempted in a Game - Individual 44 Taurean Moy B.T. Washington 1999-2000 Most Points Scored in a Game - Individual (70 or more) 83 Taurean Moy B.T. Washington vs. Manassas December 5, 2000 These statistics came from the TSSAA web site for state records. Some of these records were also national records. If this was who you were talking about. He really only scored 83 points. According to the TSSAA web site the only student to score more than that was Danny Boyd from Camden on January 6, 1961 at 104. I hear he is currently enrolled at LeMoyne-Owen, trying to get his life on the right track.
  5. I would like to add Hauns Brereton from Bartlett High School to this list. Hauns is an exceptional athelete averaging over 20 ppg. He is also the leading rebounder for his team. Hauns is exceptional off the court as well. He is ranked number 6 in his class of over 350 students. Hauns is active in his church. He also is an Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project was unique. His project was a historical trail through the Bartlett Historic district. He prepare brochure's that can be picked up at the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce and other places through out the city. For more information about his project click the following link: http://www.bartlettexpress.com/articles/20...ews/04trail.txt It is Hauns contributions off the court as well as on the court that has Ivy League schools as well as other prestigious universities looking at him.
  6. Gomab, are these in order? If so, I must agree...I would also like to add that I feel at least 3 of these players have been very underated in the state this year. Those being Hardaway, Robinson, and Herring (in that order). At least Herring has one more year to prove to everyone what a fantastic player he is. I wish all of these guys the best for their futures.
  7. If there were any teams outside of West TN that deserved to be recognized...then I'm sure Gomab would give them credit. History can't be argued with. West TN has always dominated. How many players in the NBA (the real measuring stick for talented players) are from West TN vs. East TN?
  8. Bartlett is a very tough gym to play in. Of course with a gym full of home team fans almost anywhere can be tough for visiting teams.
  9. One not on the list is Millington's DeWayne Robinson. He is averaging between 25 and 30 per game. (According the Commercial Appeal) I've forgotten the exact stat. [Edited by deetone23 on 2-6-03 6:21P]
  10. A lot of schools charge $5 but some as much as $6 per game. I have 3 children and this can get very expensive. My husband is a coach so we get in home games free. However, when we travel to away games the TSSAA pass only gets in 2 of us. Most schools still make me pay for 2 kids even after telling them I'm the coach's wife. Then there are the high prices at the concession stands. Being supportive of my husband and his team can be very expensive. I wish there was a family pass for coach's families, because that is less money I have to spend on their high priced food. The schools would get the same amount of money out of us either way.
  11. One of the best sophmore's in the state is Brandon Allen from Bartlett. He is very strong and a great rebounder. He can also score. He is definitely one to watch.
  12. Gomab, you have several kids from the Shelby/Metro area, however Keith Hardaway deserves much higher than #19. He still leads the Shelby/Metro in scoring average ppg. He is by far a more outstanding player than Bolton's Sommerset. The times I have seen Sommerset play this year he has not played well at all. Keith is by far the best player in 14-AAA. Maybe you should try to see him play so that you could really appreciate the caliber player that he really is.
  13. All of the state records in all sports are posted on the TSSAA website. CoachT has a link to the TSSAA site.
  14. I sure hope he isn't going back to Bartlett next year...my husband took the assistant's job...that would make me very hungry...and I wasn't planning a diet...hee hee
  15. The kid from Millington's name is DeWayne Robinson. He is averaging a little more than 25 ppg. He is right behind Keith Hardaway at 29 ppg in scoring for the Shelby/Metro. Just a note about the Munford/Millington game. This game is as big a rivaly as Bartlett/Bolton. When teams like these get together...records are out the window. It can be anyone's game in a rivaly game.
  16. I agree with RobM. I saw Robinson (Millington) play recently and he can play. He is the second leading scorer in the Shelby/Metro area at 25.? ppg. Just behind Munford's Keith Hardaway at 29.? ppg.
  17. Hey coachdm, The Cougars might be surprising everyone else but surely you and I had a feeling they could be good this year. Last night they easily handled Daryl Sommerset and the Bolton Wildcats. Good Luck Cougars.
  18. Again I must throw Keith Hardaway from Munford in this catagory. He reached 1,000 career points early in the season last year as a junior. He is expected to reach 2,000 before the end of this season. He is averaging almost 30 ppg. And he can jump out of the gym. I have seen him make some awesome dunk's this year. And despite what other's may say about his defense...he is generally put up against the opponent's best scorer. If his defense was sluggish he wouldn't have that job. He also probably leads the team in assists even though some people think he doesn't pass enough. But, why pass if you have an open shot and can score as well as he can. He has developed into a great leader for the Cougars. He is usually overlooked as being a great talent...but deserves more recognition.
  19. I can't say enough good things about Keith on and off the court. He is a great kid who has worked very hard to keep his grades up. I have faith that he will get the ACT score that he needs. He has only taken it once and did well. I know that he has the determination that it will take to get the score needed. He has managed to keep up his grades with a very tough class schedule, basketball, a job and he is also very involved in church. He is definately a driven D-1 talent who can do what it takes to get there. [Edited by deetone23 on 1-3-03 10:25P]
  20. Keith Hardaway from Munford passed 1,000 points last year as a junior. He is averaging 30 points a game this year. He will most likely reach 2,000 before the end of the season. He is an often overlooked player but really deserves some recognition. This is quite an accomplishment.
  21. By the way, not only was Coach Smith a Harding graduate, but Coach Deaton was also a stand-out at Harding Academy. Coach Deaton scored over 1,000 points in his career at Harding. Also, Coach Smith still holds the TSSAA record for Free throw percentage in a career at .86.
