I'd take our All-District team from last year (since we don't officially know who's on this year's team) against any other All-District team in the state. Z Mason CPA Rashad Mason PC Gerald Robinson MLK Hunter Miller CPA Shawn Kennedy FRA Jeffrey Jay FRA Josh Slater DL They'd be amazing, along with this year's projected team.
  2. Track season's coming up, let's get it started.

Since the talk's already starting and the District Tournament is a short time away, who do you think will be named to the 9AA All-District Team? Z Mason CPA Hunter Miller CPA Caleb Clayton DLHS William Carter PC Adrian Williamson HF Anton Christian MLK Shawn Kennedy FRA No idea about the players from Ezell and East Lit. No one has shone too brightly for either of them.

CPA lacks depth which could hurt them later on and tournament time begins, they have been fortunate to have not been bitten by the injury bug too badly this season. And with the powerhouse from last year, Liberty Tech, gone... there are many, many AA teams that feel like the golden ball can and will be theirs.

They're the only team to make it to Section last year, and they returned a lot of their players. They can go far. I see one of these teams from 9AA being represented in March. ...and to Mr. Claybrook, you might want to make your username less obvious before talking trash on these forums.
  6. kbrks, did you happen to see the CPA v. FRA game in the Region final at McEwen a few years back? That was probably the most evenly matched basketball game I have ever seen. CPA holding the ball the entire third quarter may have also been the most frustrating this ever witnessed on a basketball court for both sides. And yes, Tackett's style of play can be very frustrating to the opposing team's defense especially if they want to run and control the tempo. The FRA girls team is now running his offense.
  7. I think that it's really a three-way rivalry in all sports, not just basketball.1 (CPA), 2 (FRA), 3(DLHS) in District for Golf and pretty much same for region.DL and FRA in state for XC.CPA and FRA in the state championship game for Girl's Soccer. And that's just this fall. So I think the rivalry between the three is still alive as long as there is still competition. EDIT: I realized that I just repeated what matt610 said, but I'll leave the stats up there.
  8. I wouldn't give any teams any benefit by box scores and previous games. This district is a lot different than last year in that it has evened out completely between the top 4 or 5 teams. CPA has a slight advantage because of their talent with Mason and Miller. Lipscomb has 5 solid starters, Clayton can catch fire anytime. But the preceding game to this important match-up between is DLHS and FRA. The two teams match up very well against each other. DL has the aforementioned 5 solid starters and a transfer that is a solid player who has put up some big numbers. But FRA seems to confound me, how is it that with one player they can make it to second in the district? How they always get counted out but still fight it out and are able to have, as stated earlier, 4 different people that have scored 20 points in a game. They're deep, I've seen them play against some fierce opponents and prevail. Although their district schedule up to now hasn't been strong, I think they can prevail and capture the #2 spot in 9AA.

MLK with another District loss? Pardon the pun, but it looks like Doc can't even heal them.
  10. If you stop him, you stop CPA... well, kinda. He's the one that feeds Z in the post, he's the one that makes it happen. I think one 9AA team will stop them at one point this season. I thought Lipscomb could beat them, but I guess that leaves it up to FRA... who will have to do it at CPA.

    9AA

What always goes on with MLK? They always seem to start off very, very poorly but somehow pull it together by District Tournament time. Do you think that they can do their usual this year without Gerald and make some noise in the tournament? And does anyone know where the 9AA District Tournament is being held this year?

    9AA

I feel bad for Ezell, their next opponent... They have no one to guard Z down low and they might to be able to stop Miller around the perimeter.

To matt610 and flatline17: This is why they place twice.

He's a bookie. ...and CPA beat FRA by 11, not 10 with most of those 11 coming when you foul to try to keep from losing at the very end of the game.
  15. Everyone's been so obsessed with Z (at least in 9AA) but I think that the way Miller's been playing this year will sway the attention towards him and away from Z. Also, what happened to Giltner from Harpeth, only 7 points?

    9AA

That's a whole bunch of "ifs," but I agree that your assessment of the given parameters is veritable. If those 3- Pierce, Pickerel, and Kennedy- can stay out of foul trouble, they can be tough and make up a little on FRA's post game after losing an All-District post. But the big issue of other teams, like DL, is how are they going to stop Z Mason while still keeping eyes on Miller and Anderson who can drain threes if you don't. DL's team is athletic, but can they stop him?

    9AA

All of these games have shown just how, for lack of a better word: equal the top of 9AA is... It's possible that anyone (CPA, DL, FRA, MLK, PC) could win in any game at any time. Each team can exploit it's opponent's weaknesses and can come away with a win. Once District play gets rolling along more, it's going to be a lot of fun.
  18. Station Camp by no means has a great team. They have Jenkins and that's about it. Sorry, I don't know names but #50 is athletic, but will shoot it whenever he touches it. #00 and #24 will make the occasional three-pointer. Those are all the, for lack of a better word, better players I remember from their team. But since this is best AA players, I'll chime in with mine that I have seen play. In no particular order: Giltner Harpeth Z. Mason CPA Jenkins SC Gaines WH
  19. I'm going to say the best I have seen this year so far was Centennial's starting five. They just played as a team, not one or two single players doing most of the work but all five worked in perfect harmony. It was really something to watch, especially with Kelly working inside.
  20. What a completely ignorant thing for you to say. There is no such thing as a minor sport. Just because sports like golf, bowling, tennis, etc. are not covered greatly like football and basketball does not mean that they are "minor." Someone who works and excels at, say, tennis is just a great of athelete as a star football player. Just because their sport is not as greatly celebrated as others means absolutely nothing and that it's minor. Being a "minor sport" athlete, if I can call myself that, for my high school tenure, I take great offense that you, or anyone, would stoop to that level of calling any kind of sport "minor." And FRA has been school with many state champioships and state championship appearances. And just so you know, if you consider basketball a "major" sport, with some research I found FRA's Men's Basketball team made it to state tournament in the 2004-2005 season and the Girl's Team made it to state and lost a Sectional game in the last 5 years. That's succesful in a "major" sport.

    9AA

I think that's what that means.
  22. Is this serious? And if so, where is it being played? EDIT: I see that it's at Oak Hill, what a shame. I wanted to witness it.
