Even though I apparently picked East / Central teams, they were tough picks. I would expect all games to be very close.

The first thing you need to do is find someone who understands statistics well enough to tell you whether the results are truly statistically different, when factoring in such things as sample error, etc. If in fact the results show a statistically valid difference, then my speculation would be that a second level sociological difference or differences, such as parents in affluent families encouraging female leadership which would include sports participation, is/are the cause(s). Also, I must say that I am surprised these posts have not raised the ire of the board police, who have always shooed these discussions to the public/private board. I'm not against it, I'm just surprised.

All good teams. Nobody asked, but I'd pick Baylor, Father Ryan, JPII, and GPS.

My God, this just breaks your heart. To the Voyles family from all of us who have and have had teenage children: May God somehow provide solace to you in this worst possible time. I did not know anything about Markie Voyles, but reading of her accomplishments, you just know that she must have had the grit and desire to make the world a better place. We are all worse off for sure losing such young people.

The article posted on the newspaper articles thread sheds some light on this result. It appears that Siegel was hammering on Blackman's goal for much of the night, but inspired defense and goalkeeping kept the score very tight. Congratulations Blackman, you hung with a very good team. They (Siegel) might just win it all.

Another top notch team (Centennial) is already staying home? As I and others have pointed out in the past, this is a tough, tough district.

MVM--I detect the anxiety. Don't worry, your girls will do fine. The Farragut girls are a good bunch this year. They play hard and fast, but they show good sportsmanship. Hopefully you will get a good center ref that will promote open play and the skills and athleticism of the girls. The only bad thing about playing at Farragut is that the field is a little narrow for a soccer field becuase they play on the HS football field. If both teams play to their abilities, should be a very good game. I wish I could go.

Kum bay ah -- means come by here. Maybe Canes needs to come by MVM's or TTU's games.

Excellent post. But what else would you expect from the Chosen One? Seriously, the fact that you can objectively demonstrate improvement based on your program makes your assertions very credible. I hope all coaches reading this forum who have not implemented at least the Santa Monica program will do so in the very near future.

Congratulations to both teams. GPS, you must have played Baylor tough. You showed well tonight. Baylor, it's tough to come out every time likely to face your opponent's best game and still consistently come away with wins. GPS is no pushover, for sure, and you ended up on the winning end of the score again.

Bruisermom--your comments make perfect sense to all us parents, current and former. And you should be very proud of the girls if they keep trying their hardest, in my opinion.

Amen. Overuse is definitely a serious issue. The adults need to get a grip on this. For example, inflicting more than one hard game on a young lady in a day is probably very stupid.

It will be hard for GPS to mount an offense against Baylor. They will have to hope for success when counterattacking and with set pieces. If GPS is fired up and concentrates all 80 minutes, Baylor will have to work to score. Josie Rix is a "women among girls", so to speak, in the central defense. Still, Baylor has too much offensive talent to go with its excellent defense. I see this one going 2 or 3 to 0 in favor of Baylor.

She seems to be a feisty young lady. Who is she?
