  1. A rematch. On paper, CAK should have been able to compete with Chat. Christian, but on the field, the Chattanooga faithful were substantially stronger. Can CAK make a proper game of this, or do they roll right over an 8-2 CAK team that is just fortunate to have won a few games?2
  2. I'm not so sure my friend. I think there are several teams that given a few breaks could come home with the gold. Of course, my standards are influenced by following a team that played against a county all star team every year. I'll predict right now that whomever emerges from the east / middle will bring home gold. I thought I was wrong one time but when I checked, I was actually right.
  3. Two good teams but I don't think Boyd will be able to hang in Grace's league. Best wishes to the Bradleys. If everything fell just right CRB might have a shot at a 3rd State Title this year.
  4. LOL. 10/10, ok. Neither offense looked very good tonight IMO. On a dry field I suspect they both would have performed better, although it wouldn't surprise me if it was a close low scoring game like Grace and Webb. Good luck to Grace the rest of the year. CRB and "Old Bradley" as he was known at CAK are great. The only time I can bring myself to pull against them is in this match up. Who knows what the playoffs will bring. I guess that's two in a row for CAK. I don't like Grace's chances next year with what CAK returns. Oh well, time to think about Webb next week.
  5. Yes, I was at the game. CAK deserved to be up 31-7. They were that much better. However, poor coaching decisions opened up opportunities for Boyd and they took full advantage. Hats off to them. They deserved the win / CAK deserved the loss. If they played 10 times (or one more in the playoffs) I would give the advantage to CAK with no reservation of confidence. Not that Boyd couldn't beat CAK (they did) but it was the exception, not the rule. CAK was the better team. On the other hand, going in to this game, I would give the edge to Grace. After they play I would be glad to give my best opinion on the better team should they rematch. I call it like I see it. Can't say I'm the most knowledgeable, nor the least. I do, however, call it straight to the best of my ability, and have for many years on the T. A number of times CAK won in the past and I knew and would freely admit they were fortunate. Boyd was fortunate this past week. It will take CAK's best effort to beat the Rams this week. Combine one of the very best offensive minds in TN HS football with a swarming and aggressive defense and you have a formidable Grace. I could never pull for Grace (no offense, just rivalry) but I am so happy and proud of CRB.
  6. It appears that Rusty has this team firing on all cylinders. Other than the collapse of a 31-7 lead against Boyd, CAK has played well this year (and coached well for the most part). Trying to be objective, I give the edge to Grace, but the edge is, in my opinion, just that....an edge. I believe these teams are very close if they played 10 times. But they only play once (in the regular season) and anything can happen. While it could go that way, I think those who are looking at the game as an easy W for Grace are grossly underestimating CAK. I know CRB won't but I hope the Grace players are. Having said that, I expect that CRB will not allow his team to come in over confident and anything but fully ready to play. I will say that after the terrible finish last Friday, Grace will have CAK's full attention and effort. I believe there will be a lot of talented and very frustrated young men suiting up for the Warriors. In all candor, I think the ending to the Boyd game (while it was sickening) is a bad thing for Grace. Those young men (and coaches) KNOW they should have won that game by a substantial margin, and rather than fold, I believe they will be highly focused this week and come in ready to play.
  7. I won't take anything away from Boyd, classy program, classy fans. CAK coaches absolutely outsmarted themselves with a misguided fake punt on a 4th and 1 (line it up if you want to go for it, they had been running on Boyd all night) and a terrible decision to try a 4th and 3 on your own 40 when you have Boyd down 31-7 with 2 minutes to go in the first half. This opened the door for everything that could go wrong for CAK to go wrong, and for Boyd to seize the momentum and the opportunities. Hats off, they did. Sometimes the better team get's beat. Going in to this game I felt like they'd be even, but after the 31-7 first two quarters prior to the collapse, I don't think these two were even. Boyd deserved to win this game just as much as CAK deserved to lose it. To even be in the position that going in for a TD at the very end of the game, a fumble costs you the W is truly unbelievable from a 31-7 starting point. This L will haunt the coaching staff forever. Nothing to do now other than take the L and go play two more tough games and try to finish 8-2. CAK had a chance to win every game left on their schedule. Not a guarantee, but they should be able to compete and have had a chance to finish 9-1. I hope these young men are able to trash can the loss and focus on the next two. With the vast majority of the team coming back next year, it is important that these young men bounce back and finish strong.
  8. Thank you. Was hoping he might be back for this game. It's a shame to see a kid miss this much of the season after all the work put in.
  9. So what's the prognosis of Thomas getting back on the field on defense? I heard he was ahead of schedule, and we're at game 6.....
  10. The last time I spoke with APB in person, he had, "retired" from the T. He had a very logical reason for doing so due to changes I observed in his role as a fan. He certainly did nothing wrong, and I always enjoyed visiting with APB and a number of other Alcoa fans back in the day, even though sometimes we disagreed. Good guy(s).
  11. Well, since you asked, first I've been an OR fan since the late 70's when I moved there from out of state. I'm an alum who moved to Knoxville. My kids starting attending CAK in Knoxville and at that point, I started supporting that program as well and still do. My kids are out of school now and as always, I support both programs. I was responding to an earlier Farragut fan's post that OR would be the toughest competition they've played this year. I agree. I also believe Farragut was OR's toughest competition so far. I prefaced my comments about the penalties with, "Not that it effected the overall game..." Those were two blatant bad HS ref moments. My commentary was more about the refs, not their effect on that game. While I'm sure there were bad calls favoring OR (thus the two I mentioned didn't change the overall game) the two you cited, I believe, were correctly called. I was close enough to the personal foul to see it first hand. Anyway, good folks can disagree. That's the way I saw the game when I made the post and I stand by it. Good luck to your team, whomever that may be.
  12. Congrats to USJ. Having 3 different coaches in 3 years isn't easy for any program to overcome without some scars. Quality win.
  13. A case could be made for both, but OR PAT percentage went way up when they switched kickers for extra points and kept the bigger leg kicker for kick offs. Both are doing what they are best at and the overall kicking has improved. Fact.
  14. I guess I'm missing something. What team from Kingsport would stand a chance against Alcoa or Maryville for that matter? I sure can't think of one.
  15. Really exciting game right till the end, but OR just left too many points on the field. I felt really bad for #9 with 2 dropped TD's. Farragut has a really good team, but they at least finally played some quality competition and honestly were fortunate (along with good play) to get out of there with the win. My view was OR lost this game more than Farragut won it. Just too many mistakes and missed opportunities. Not that it affected the outcome of the overall game, but did anyone notice that offensive holding was a spot foul every single time it was called except the first one on Farragut? Also couldn't help but notice on the long run around left end, OR's #1 getting literally pulled down by the arm right in front of the ref. The only explanation I could come up with on why he didn't call the hold was that instead of watching his assignment he was watching the RB down field. It was a really nice run.
  16. Thanks to Bounder and WTW for the info. As an OR alum who lives in Ktown, It is harder for me to get info except from good folks like the ones on this board. I was able to catch game one on the tube, and was present for 2 and 3. I'll be at the Ship tonight as well. Really glad to hear #7 is ahead of schedule; I hope that maybe that means game 4 or 5. As a long time OR season ticket holder who later split time as my kids grew up at CAK, I've been fortunate to watch some great high school QB play over the years, and the DB game was some of the best QB ground and air combined execution I've seen, going back to Todd Helton for Central and several OR QBs over the years. It appears that if OR can get some of that combination going tonight, it is going to be a hard offense to stop. I believe the OL has to continue to come together for this offense to reach it's potential. I'm excited to see how we match up against a very good Farragut team. I'm concerned how the defense will match up against Farragut, but speed is something you can't teach and OR's defense has it.
  17. Willie, I hate to hear Thompson is out for 6 weeks. From what you heard, are you understanding that is 6 weeks from now, or how far are we into that 6 weeks. Really liked what I saw in the passing game in the 2nd game. It wasn't quite at that level against CC. Does OR have the ability to pass more consistently like they did in the 2nd game, or was this past week more typical of what we will see week in week out? I felt like having 13 be so good in the air and on the ground made a good offense great against DB.
  18. Great info, thank you for taking the time. I have always been able to make it in the past but with some work changes have not been able to do so the scrimmage season. Unfortunately I have a family obligation on Saturday and will most likely have to miss. I am hoping they broadcast The Internet as they did last year. If so at least I will catch it on that.
  19. Thanks so much for your thoughts. Any observations on the Mo West scrimmage?
  20. With this being moved to tonight I was not able to make it. I would be very interested in any candid assessments or observations!
  21. Warriors, what time and where is this Friday's CAK scrimmage? I may be back in time to make it.
