  1. Wasn't at the Jamboree...I know the Jackets should be strong at rb and defense. What can we expect to see this year at QB?
  2. Great game from two well coached teams. HC had the depth and the running game eventually wore us down some. Running back was a beast. Loved the fight Springfield showed...no quit. Barbee can do it all, but missing the throwing threat of Evan Link made us somewhat one demensional. The future is bright for Springfield...I believe they started 6-7 sophmores tonight. They proved the are no fluke, and I think they have a good chance to win out.
  3. This may be the worst upset in football history
  4. Don't think Springfield will go 10-0, but I don't think 8-2 is out the question.
  5. I know its not always best to compare opponent scores, but White House beat a good Lipscomb team that went toe to toe with Pearl Cohn last night. That tells me WH is pretty stout. I think this one could go either way, but would love to Springfield keep the streak alive. There is a lot of crap going on in the town of Springfield right now, and this team is one thing that is bringing us together. Go Jackets!
  6. Coach Myers...nobody is disrespecting the job you did on the field. Right, wrong, or otherwise we have a new coach. There is no need to come on here and bash the current staff and the job they are doing. I hope ypu are still out there coaching.
  7. Couldn't agree more. I am glad Coach Wilson stuck to his guns. It has indeed taken a few years, but the future looks bright. The players know that he will not except anything but their best, and the atheletes are starting to come back around. If even half the players from SMS and Coopertown come out, the Jackets will be fine for years to come. I know CMS is undefeated in the county, and pretty sure Springfield Middle is undefeated almost every year.
  8. I am more excited about the Springfield program overall than even this 3-0 start. They appear to be faster, stronger, and there are more of them this year. They are also playing more disciplined football, and playing with heart. I think this is a sign of good things to come.
  9. Not much chatter on this game, which tells me that niether of the fanbases are very confident. I think GP wins a close one 24-20.
  10. Last years staff would probalbly beaten Greenbrier up to this point, but thats about it. As for me I will take a young up and coming coach, who is a former jacket, by the way. The Jackets are improving every week, and has a good chance to win the last 4 games, which would put give them the same record as the almighty coach Meyers in his first year.
  11. Leon... enough of the hate. It's obvious you liked the previous coaching staff. They did some good things. It should also be obvious to you that Grimes had no choice and the "different direction" stuff is a cover story. There was something else at play, that we don't know about. Why not give Coach Wilson a chance, he is young and he will learn quickly.
  12. Congrats to Goodpasture on another state baseball title.
  13. Why do people think you can't pass out of a wing t? It is just like any other offense, you need balance. I went to Goodpasture, they run the deleware wing t. Believe me they can pass the ball out if it. Pat Turner was Mr. Football winner and played WR at Southern Cal. The team won 3 gold balls, and about 5 silvers with the wing t. Hillsboro ran it, when they were beating everybody. Mount Juliet and Riverdale are some others that have had success.
  14. I too think Coach Wilson will do a great job at Springfield. Here are a couple of reasons I think this was a good hire: 1. He is a Springfield grad and understands the tradition and history of Springfield football. 2. He knows the game of football. He played linebacker at APSU, and is in the top ten for career tackles. He will run whatever system that will give his players the best chance to succeed. 3. He knows how to coach players up. No disrespect to CMS, but the halls are not exactly crawling with huge linemen and speedsters. Yet he was able to coach the players he was given and always finished near the top in the county. 4. He is loyal. He started the program at CMS, and stayed there until he was hired by SHS. He has had opportunities to move to the high school level, but has chosen to stay at CMS. He will be at SHS for the longhall. 5. He knows how to build a program, and build community support and not just coach a football team. He will continue to bring the pride back to Jacket football. 6. This is not a shocking hire to people who know football in Robertson County, he was a finalist when they hired Coach Meyers 3 years ago, and would be at the top of the list for several other schools if they needed a coach. 7. He is single, and will devote all of his time to building the program. It would be impossible to count the number of hours he has dedicated to CMS, not just the football team, but the entire school. You will not outwork Coach Wilson. He may or may not have a learning curve adjusting to the 5A football, but he will adjust quickly. Good luck to Coach Wilson and his staff!
  15. CPA is gonna be stacked. There are some good teams in this district so anything can happen, but I think CPA is the team to beat this year.
  16. He taught at Greenbrier High for several years, while coaching at CMS.
  17. A boring ball control offense kind of like...Alabama. They havn't even named a coach yet, and we have figured our what kind of offense they will run, and which players will quit. Calm down folks.
