  4. I have been a life long supporter of the Pirates but here goes, I have sit back watched and listened for a few years on this site and seldom posted. I have been known by my thread name for years, so for those who know me know I have taught my boys to be hard nosed & competitive in what ever they undertake. Here are things only a very few Pirate supporters know. Since Wesley was old enough to walk he has regularly walked the sidelines at SP practices just like Matt, followed by every grandson that came along. You see, I wasn't a hunter, golfer or fisherman, but I have always been a Pirate supporter. I took the boys to SP practices regularly and taught them to love the Pirates and dream of one day wearing the orange & black. Wesley bypassed other career options to seek teaching and coaching with dreams of doing it at the only place he truly loved. For those few and I know most of them personally I will enjoy watching your sons be taken to the wood shed before their days playing are done by a team coached by Wes. Yes, I will confront those responsible but with a smile on my face knowing Wes will get the last laugh. The thing Wes has that his distractors don't have is guts and a burning desire to beat his opponent and will work tirelessly to do it. Yes, you better understand and know he will be back on the field only as a formidable foe and coach! Johnny (Poppa) Stone, The Bucks will be coming and looking to take No prisoners!
  5. +100, some posters don't realize you mods are only trying to do what the boss says. A saying comes to mind, don't hate the messenger over the message. Merry Christmas, must say coacht has changed and not for the better thou
  6. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I am a grand father and have seen such poor sportsmanship only a very few times and CF by far takes 1st place. The SP players while leaving the field had to walk thru a large crowd of adults and were called unprintable names. I'm not a man that gets on these much but brother you are a piece of work. I am sure there are a lot of fine people in Coalfield but it was obvious to many your community doesn't support segregation, that sir is factual. So take your whipping and continue to teach the kids of your community to be narrow minded. If you want to know more of how I really feel, email me and I will be more than happy to tell you! Your fans should not criticize anyone.
  7. JF, You never had guts to suit up and still your best quality is running that mouth. You still do the same thing today as you have always done, stand on the sidelines attempting to tell the coaches......how the game needs to be played. Congratulations to Tim on his 1st win as head coach of the Pirates.
  8. The local schools should play all sports not only the ones that give them the best chance to win especially Grundy & Bledsoe.
  9. The Pirates given time will be fine with youth a major issue at this time. J Stone has the smarts and toughness to be a leader on both sides of the ball. D Johnson is the speed ands hands guy that has the big play ability. C Hale is the all business type player that comes to play every down on both sides of the line of scrimmage. D Jones could be a key ingredient if or when he gets healthy. A Collier can be the leader of the young OL but needs to play consistently. Juniors J Lankford has great potential as RB and needs more dedication to be a complete player that excels on both sides of the ball. C Mitchell is a visual guy that is making his impact felt as a tough player. K Mitchell has strength and size but needs to work hard at.conditioning. S Mitchell has speed, size and smarts to be a very good player. P Moseley has quickness and plays hard every play and needs to become a more impact player. Hawkins has quickness & shows signs of becoming a position type receiver with good hands. R Fair has size & experience, needs to become the anchor of the OL and develop ability to play both sides of the ball. Sophmores, C Fitzgerald is a future play maker that needs the future to be today. Elledge has size and toughness with consistant play needed on both sides of the line of scrimmage. M Blevins has size, quickness and shows signs of becoming a quality player with tremendous potential.
  10. Thats alright Butchie. I have been called worst than that. I will certainly pass the word on about my grandson.
  11. Tyrone Robinson and Chubb just returned from a football leg injury, both are starters. These two are seniors along with M. Mitchell, Keaton Jones and Cartrez Biibs are backups.
  12. SP is better than they play sometimes. The game last night was close for awhile with TT up by 8 @ the half. It seems SP's intensity level is not what it needs to be and they will have to develop outside shooting to get far. SP is like the TN Vols athletic, tall and quick but w/o perimeter shooters that can connect. TT was not near the team they've been in past years. I was surprised at the lack of white players on this team.
  13. The Pirates should be alright in 09 with quality players returning at key positions. I see them as being a good mix of upper classmen and and lower classmen which will provide a base for continued success in the coming years with young players gaining experience.
  14. As a SP fan like many I have watched David for several years and am happy he'll get his chance to play college ball and further his education.
  15. SP not finishing what they started is a failure. The bar was raised by the 07 team for this 08 team. The 08 team accomplished a bunch failing to fulfill their dream. Spoiled you betcha. SP is expected to be an elite team and anything less is a failure or sub-par year.
  16. OP, perhaps you are thinking about the game with Springhill and Coach Grider went for 2 with Carl Lehr and scored and the refs sent a letter to the school the next week apologizing for the missed call that would have given SP the title. I had nephews playing in both games and remember Springhill as the team most SP fans choose to dislike.
  17. Wish the Pirates good luck this week, continue to full feel that dream.
  18. The Pirates don't seem to have the cohesiveness that a team should have at this time of the season. Granted I have only seen them early in scrimages and only the last couple of games due to working out of state. It is difficult to see the problem other than the lack of focus and the mental approach to the games. Maybe their best football is still to come.
  19. I also remember that when Eddie got hurt and the jasper crowd chanted insulting remarks while they loaded him in the ambulance. The big boy did hurt some opposing jasper players the following year at home. Memories were made that night for many pirate fans and they'll never forget the classlessness shown toward EM.
  20. Great to see Ty walking the sidelines and encouraging his fellow team members. Tyrone and wife surely are blessed to have so many prayers and well wishers. As former players most know any given play could be the last, so enjoy all you can.
  21. The individual events were fun to watch. I really thought T. Robinson would take the passing. I was at the middle school jamboree and saw a kid from jasper throw the ball 52yds. I was surprised after reading in the paper that jasper had several running 40s 4.6 and better that they were beaten badly in both races. The kid from jasper middle would have beaten most of the punters last night. I think that kid will be special. I was glad all the players seem to come thru unhurt.
  22. South Pitt showed some grit by driving the ball 93 yds on their last drive. The Pirates will need to be able to control the line of scrimmage better than they have in the last 2 scrimmages if they plan on having a championship season . I thought the kids from Polk showed a lot of promise.
  23. Hope the Robinson family can find comfort in knowing that many are remembering Ty in their prayers. I was at the scrimmage and was surprised when he failed to get to his feet. Hopefully it's a temp thing. Prayers will sent from here.
