  1. Polk wins. Welcome back to the weakness of 5aa.
  2. Where is the game? What time? and date? Thanks in advance.
  3. $15-$20 is the going rate for a weekend pass at any summer tournament.
  4. Great post except you forgot the guys up front.
  5. OK you made your point. You care about him and no one else. Now get some mental help. I'm proud to hear the kids are on the same page, I will continue to follow Polk football despite this nut.
  6. Hows this, Who wins:Sweetwater Why:Because they aren't quite as horrible as Meigs.
  7. Central should get transfers from McMinn County and Meigs, worked last time you had that happen. LOL
  8. Central schedule has been brutal. Meigs schedule has been somewhat soft. Walker being healthy will help Centrals offense in a big way. I also keep hearing about Meigs being young, I look at the roster, mostly jr's and sr's playing. Central by 2 touchdowns.
  9. There is an advertisement on the TBCA website that Demarini composite bats will be legal. It's getting confusing with all the changes on top of changes.
  10. Great to see this cross-town battle competitive again. Bradley wins a close one.
  11. McMinn Central best hope Coach Davis has forgotten all the trash talking of the last few years. Polk will win by as many as he lets them.
  12. Meigs hasn't found the answer, Sequoyah wins by 2 touchdowns.
  13. You should not be so defensive, everyone has an opinion. My point about Meigs, they only lost maybe 4 or 5 starters from last years team. Same core group of players and lost to a team they had beat the year before, that my friend is not improvement. It was everyones first game, yea I'll give you the other 2 excuses. Polk had a come from behind win against Bradley last year, I was there, it was not a sound beating. Any excuse you want to come up with, 5AA still has a 1-4 record after week 0. Polk will run through the conference, and no one else will be above .500.
  14. Week 0 was not kind. Conference again appears to be weak. Conference record after week 0, 1 win 4 losses. Sweetwater had the only win, vs Telico. Polk will be undefeated in conference play with everyone else fighting for second. At this point I would pick Sweetwater as 2. Meigs lost to a team they beat soundly last year, so they are not improved as posted. Sequoyah lost again after much pre-season hype. Central lost to a better team. My prediction: Polk will be the only team in the conference with a winning record.
  15. I read in todays chattanooga times that another local player has committed to play baseball for Tennessee. That makes 4 from our area. Nice to see UT recruiting locally. Congrats to OUR boys and hopefully our area will continue to be a hot spot.
  16. This process is far from perfect, but I agree with you. This kid is projected to be the first high school player taken in next years draft, some project him to be the first pick overall. I also looked up his stats, wow! Simply politics, no way has TBCA used the formula they advertise. I also have a beef with players playing on team Tennessee but not being on the all-state team, if you are good enough to be on a team representing our state should you not be good enough to make the all-state team? Simply politics of TBCA. Congrats to each player named.
  17. 1. Polk - Davis has a system that works. Should be on top for several years 2. Central - They will be in top 2 until other programs in district stabilize coaching issues 3. Seq - Showed improvement last year, may be ready to leave the cellar 4. Sweetwater - history 2 rich to stay down long 5. Meigs - reminds me of Seq a couple years back. New coach lots of work to be done Question is: Can any of these teams make a run in the playoffs?
  18. So what positions do Harris and Holiday coach? Sounds like this guy coming in has his offensive and defensive philosophy, so I guess they will just have to fall in and help the kids transition. If Holiday is this great coach that you say, he should be able to adapt easily. I haven't heard no one say anything good about Harris. I hope he is a good guy too and can adapt to whatever the system is. If not, the coach doesnt have to keep them on staff, he can choose to go without. For the kids sake I hope the other two coaches help in the transition as well though! I never said Holiday is a great coach, and Harris has rarely been mentioned in this thread. They should adapt to just about anyone, this will be the fourth head coach for Holiday and third for Harris. Listen, coaches are hired as teachers first. The system works like this, teachers/coaches have already been rehired for next school year. If there is an teaching position open, and the school is needing a coach, the school will try to find a coach that is qualified to teach that position. This is the way it works at all small schools. I can assure you that a coach will not have the power to hire and fire who he wants.
  19. Meigs will evenually hire a head coach but a new staff will never happen. This is high school football at a small school. Teaching positions must be open, which I doubt is the case. I know Harris and Holiday both have tenure, with Harris being a homer and Holiday making roots. If a new coach got to hire and fire his own staff at Meigs it would be the first time.
  20. At one time we had no running water, rode horses and had one room classrooms. Come on man, it's called medical advancement. You find one doc that says this is fine for a kids arm, enlighten the rest of us and give us his name. Is it in the kids best interest to throw that many pitches? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I don't know the coach , kid or anyone involved. If this kid is as good as what I have read he needs to tell the coach ," no thats enough". This kid is going to get a payday, if his arm survives high school.
  21. It should be all about the kids and nothing else. But its not. The timing of the whole mess was bad. Most schools/coaches make changes as soon as the season is over. This gives everyone ample opportunity to find another job/find another coach. When did Meigs make the move, late Feb early March? At this point Meigs is going to have trouble finding a quality coach that will be loyal. Keep in mind that loyalty goes both ways. Are coaches unwilling to go to Meigs because of amount of turnover they have in the coaching ranks? Why so much turnover? Whatever the reason, fix it for the kids. The admin has already put these kids behind and the longer it drags out the worse it will be. Whats the deal with Holiday? Is he not capable or is it personal? No one should question his loyalty at this point, maybe the lack of loyalty comes from the school.
  22. Who does the hiring up there? Is it the director, schoolboard, principal or AD? Whoever it is they can't get it right. Good luck to Meigs, I hope you regain your proud tradition.
  23. Donation is the key word, not forced to pay. I don't mind giving $3 bucks to a kid to help improve or build their facility. It should be clearly posted on a sign as to what sport and how the money is to be spent. I will not donate to a sport raising money to go on a trip. One night at a high school basketball game: family of 4, $3 to park, $24 tickets to game, $20 dollars concessions(no time to drive through mickey d) $47 total. That averages out to a $11 and some change per person, not a bad price for good entertainment. The $3 didn't break me. I have been to a few Polk football games, including a playoff game, never been asked for money to park.
