  1. Shane Spann MVP of the region number 36 Eric Beard from McEwen defensive MVP Joey McClung from Heritage was the offensive MVP number 54 Nathan Armstrong was the lineman MVP from Cascade I think Orlando was the back MVP JBS had several to make all-region, but if i started listing them i would leave some out--I'll let someone else post who knows more than i do. congratulations to all the mvp's and to all the kids who made all -region it is a true honor. I hope I did not make any mistakes.
  2. Are several of your atheletes being contacted by colleges? (please don't tell me most of your players are juniors) You all have several good players. Marco gets the press and deserves it, but you have other good skill players and to be honest I was really impressed with your linemen.
  3. Good luck--hope MTP is in the Blue Cross Bowl. I did not mean to cause any controversy. I agree your kids made good plays. I, certainly, do not feel our kids let down either. As I stated earlier in another post the fumble was a forced play. The interception was a good play on your kids part and a big play in the game . My angle was not the same as yours. To be honest I hope your view of the interception is correct. I would not want Shane to feel upset. He has been so valuable to this team. Anyway I feel MTP is a class act and deserving of their success. Also, Marco Daily is a great athelete, but you have other young men who are very good. I was impressed with your O-Line. I,too, want the JBS players to know you have made so many of us proud. We as fans and parents owe you thanks for a great run. I am sure the MTP fans feel the same about their young men. (I mean no disrespect to your players number 10 and 30 both played really good games and made big plays. Nor am I trying to blame any JBS players for the turnovers. Two turnovers in a big game is not bad and they had them because of your kids being in position and playing hard. Football is for the atheletes and I do not want to show any disrespect to a high school athelete because to me HS football is the purest form of football played) The original post was intended to give credit to MTP controling the ball and not having turnovers. When you run 67 offensive plays without a turnover--that is impressive.
  4. The interception and the fumble. I am trying to give MTP the credit of not having turnovers and protecting the ball. The fumble was a mistake that your team forced. It was a really good hit.
  5. Good luck MTP. This is the game most people at JBS wanted. The result was not what we wanted, but MTP was the better team Friday night. I feel MTP and JBS have provided the mid-state with three good to great games over the last three years. It would be nice if the Nashville media would have taken the time to give this game the coverage it deserved.(Most of the players and fans wanted MTP because we knew they were good--kinduva like the trilogy of Ali vs Frazier--Ali won two of the three, but both men brought out the best in each other--MTP won 2 of the three, but I believe JBS brought out the best in MTP and JBS wanted to know how they matched up with an excellent team. JBS though loosing two did show it could compete on the top level of football in Tennessee)
  6. Part of being the best team is not turning the ball over. JBS had some critical mistakes which cost them. I am still proud of this team. 11-2 is another super season for the Red Devils. Congratulations to MTP and good luck against Mckenzie. Just curious how many players from both teams are being looked at by colleges, whether Divison 3, NAIA. Division 2 or D-1-A or AA. Any information. Just curious. I know single A players do not get the respect they deserve.
  7. On a more serious note--Mr. Wade Corbin passed away this afternoon. He was the grandfather of Michael Corbin-number 56 and his younger brother, Christopher, number 4 for JBS. Keep the family in your prayers. The Good Lord must have wanted Mr.Wade to have the best boxseat for tonight's game.
  8. Thanks i thought the stats of the Lewis Co. and MTP seemed very strange. Still means MTP has the best running attack in 1A. The turnovers of plus 18 looks impressive.
  9. Just fooling around with stats from the Jackson Sun Times (I do question the stat on game one MTP vs LEWIS Co.--it is showing both rushed for 427 yards) anyway JBS is averaging approx 202 yards passing a game and 188 rushing. MTP is averaging approx.290 rushing and 71 passing--MTP gives up 189 yards rushing and JBS gives up 141. (These yard amounts are rounded) I have always felt if a HS football team could average 300 yards or more per game offensively that is excellent. The game at THE DUNGEON has the makings of a shoot out! which probably means the defenses will dominate--who knows--just a great chance for two teams who have played classic games the last two years to meet again. HOPE TO SEE THE SPRINGFIELD, GREENBRIER, HERITAGE SUPPORTERS AND EAST AT THE GAME. Hope Coach Parker from Cascade is there. He is always great to be around and can really give a quality insight into the game.
  10. MOTO 24you make some good points, Good things will end for all. time will take pain, but it will take away memories--the only thing that will last whether we win Friday or loose will be how friends, teammates, coaches and fans came together in a special time. The pain of loosing or the joy of winning will be fond memories, but the people around you will be what matters. Players go out and fight for what the team needs. Sacrifice to make yourself and more importantly the people around you better. You only will be a successful player and more importantly become the person you are to be is when things are not about you. but about others. Play Friday night and hopefully two more Friday's after this about what you can do to make others around you successful. The inevitable will come. Football will end. But as a team you may have the opportunity accomplish who God only knows. Will it end Friday or will it end with a gold ball being hoisted--none of us know. Just be a team and be friends and enjoy the run.
  11. I have seen a little film on MTP. Both sides of the ball their line play really looks good. number 74 for mtp is a man child the DE"s look good. Those of you who have seen or perhaps been at games of JBS and MTP how do the lines match up. I guess I am addressing this to Cascade, Wayne County, and Moore County more than anyone.
  12. One simple rule in a game like this. Take away or develop a scheme to stop what a team does best. JBS needs to sell out to stop Marco Daily. This is no disrespect to the other atheletes, but if I am JBS and I cannot stop or slow down Marco it is going to be difficult to win. Some people will say stop everything else because an athelete like Marco will get his. Teams usually who have this philosophy will get beat. JBS probably found out Friday night that Orlando Taylor is very special. Shane had an off night, but Orlando made the plays. To be honest Mt. Pleasant may have the more difficult job in developing a game plan to stop the JBS offense. (credit Wayne County for a good job on defense). If JBS is clicking on all cylinders they will score. Also, I have been watching alot of film on JBS lately and the offensive line, , gets the job done and deserves alot of the offenses credit for success They are much better than what I thought they would be. They may actually be the best offensive line in 5-1a. Though Cascade's was awful good. Tossup Both teams have super offenses. In looking at the stats the defenses are not bad, but neither teams defense strikes fear in the others heart. But, the team whose defense can stop big plays --will really help out their teams cause. I believe if both offenses are clicking--you could see a 42-35 final--maybe more. Since I said this the final will probably be 7 to 6. (By the way Jeff Heatherly has done an excellent job with the O-Line)
  13. Congratulations Mt. Pleasant on your victory. This is the game that the fans wanted to see. No disrespect to Cascade and Coach Parker, but the last two years of history between JBS and MTP has made this a very special game. JBS has nicer bleachers and a nicer concessions area than when you were here two years ago. Have a safe trip up. Hopefully, this game will be a classic. (JBS fans in the bleachers,I am sure that bunch on the sidelines are raising cane, you need to get off your behinds this week yell and scream. The fans need to get behind the players. Last night if your butts were froze to the bleachers and your mouths froze shut do something to fix it or let's just save some open seats for people who may come from around Robetson County and maybe they will apprecieate this football team and yell for them. This team deserves more better vocal fan support than what many of you are giving. Where the noise makers, where are the palm palms, where are your screams!!!! You have been seeing the best period of Red Devil football history show some apprecieation. I bet MTP does not take their winning teams for granted )
  14. If a kid wants to be recognized he and his parents will have to the leg work. Coaches do not have the time to send film out to ten to fifteen teams on ten or fifteen atheletes. It is upto the parents to e-mail schools, visit schools, and send out dvd's to teams. Parents and atheletes must realize the ability level of the athelete. I am a Jo Byrns supporter, but a parent should not waste there time sending dvd's to Division I-A schools and most I-AA schools if there athelete is from Jo Byrns who wants to play on the next level. There are opportunities in Division 2, NAIA, and Division 3. Schools will, also, be interested in atheletes based on need and on potential. Look at school rosters and see if your position may be a need. Ps-YOU ARE ALREADY BEHIND THE 8 BALL IN GETTING RECRUITED AS A SENIOR IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY SENT OUT LOTS OF FILM, DEVELOPED A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COACHES THROUGH E-MAILS ETC. YOU BETTER WORK HARD AND FAST. JUNIORS YOU SHOULD NOT WAIT LATER THAN THE SPRING IN GETTING OUT INFORMATION AND MAKING INITIAL CONTACTS. Just a word of advice remember most schools are not looking for a superhero. They want a kid with a good work ethic, active in their community, descent grades etc. Schools today are spending more time looking at character. Schools are tired of being embarassed by a great athelete who is a thug.
  15. Hey what an honor for Aaron Yates to be nominated for Mr. Football. Forget about any stats and he had excellent stats at linebacker. Aaron's true skill was his leadership and helping other around him to be better. Hey, playing football for Aaron was not the glory he received, but helping the team. It truly was not about him.
  16. IN 2005 JBS THREE WINS OVER REGION 6, LAST YEAR TWO AND ONE, AND THIS YEAR A WIN OVER MOORE COUNTY---JBS IS 6 AND 1 IN THE PLAYOFFS AGAINST REGION 6 SINCE 2005. ADMITTEDLY REGION 6 HAS BEEN THE STRONGER REGION WINNING 3 OUT OF 4 FIRST ROUND GAMES IN 05 and 06. THIS YEAR THE REGIONS ARE 2 AND 2. WE WILL HAVE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS FRIDAY NIGHT. (somebody from one of the regions will be on here very soon saying their favorite region will dominate the other, that is what makes coacht fun because unless your initials are J.C. I really doubt if anyone can say for sure who will win)
  17. Brett Worsham and Kurt Reeves were also asked to participate. Players represent their state or region. The cost is over two-thousand dollars to participate and go to Hawaii. Vic Wallace the head coach at Lambuth I believe is the head coach of Tennessee. There will be several teams and each team plays twice. From what I have read most of the coaches are area NAIA coaches. It simply gives them a chance to see alot of kids at once for recruitment It is a good opportunity for Orlando. support him with his fund raising
  18. The better team and lost 35-7! What did they do leave the plan at Shoney's in Springfield? I believe Moore County is a quality team who deserves alot of respect for their winning streak and beating Mt. Pleasant. By saying stuff like they got away from the game plan--you are making the coaches at Moore County look like idiots. I am sure Moore County's coaching staff is hight quality. I am sure the coaching staff and many of their kids started preparing last Sunday developed a plan they thought would work and let's face it some teams do not play as well against certain style of teams. Moore County seemed to have quality coaches, players, and fans.
  19. Hey Mt.P, WC, Cascade, and JB do to the last two or three years region 5 and 6 have become great rivals. This is JBS best run ever. Congrats Champions for a 10 win season. Congrats WC lots of people thought you all would be a a 4th place team in your region and probably one and done in the playoffs. MTP--the run you all have had with straight district wins I know you have brought alot of pride to your community along with your playoff victories. People at JBS still talk about the games we have had with you all the last two years. I hope all of us fans who post on here this week and trash talk, let's face it, it is fun;we really know how lucky we are in getting to be apart of having good players and coaches. We should all thank the Lord that we get to be apart of this success and that we get to be apart of the kids we love in one of their big moments in their young lives. I may be centimental at this time because because my son has been apart of this JBS success and start for three seasons. Next year I know it will be different and at times hard not seeing my son and his friends not on the field GO RED DEVILS--BY THE WAY WHOEVER WINS BETWEEN MTP AND CASCADE YOU REALLY WANT US AT JBS TO WIN. OUR CONCESSIONS HAS A PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICH TO DIE FOR. First Trash talk--JBS Concessions dominates WC concession stand
  20. What has happened has happened. Region 5 let's play ball and let the chips fall where they may. Region 6 has been the best region over the last two years. Good luck to all region 5 teams and let's see what happens Friday night. Saw a little bit of Moore County on film and they will be the best offensive team JBS will have played. But they will find JBS will too be the best offense they will have played. I posted JBS 42-28 earlier, but from what little I saw I could possibly see both teams score into the thirties and the winner could hit the low fifties. This may seem far fetched--Moore County may right now be the best team in 6-1a and that is not just my opinion, but from some respected coaches. I posted earler they may be the best number 4 seed; there is no maybe to it. By the way best of luck Heritage. Hopefully, both of us can win. We want you back at the Dungeon round 2. But I think we both better focus on two really good teams in Moore County and Wayne County.
  21. If you are a 4A or 5A player you really do not need these scouting organization. Or if you ar an athelete from Division 2 or from schools like Alcoa and Goodpasture in the smaller classification However, they are good in getting kids from smaller classifications some exposure. They do a good job educating you as a parent and athelete. They can be benefical in helping a kid flying under the recruiting radar screen. I would think these agencies probably benefit the kids who are NAIA, Division 2 and Division 3 in athletic talent.
  22. personally my opinion--you can bet the scores will be wrong JBS 42 MC 28--MC has the best offenseive team jbs will have played Coscade 28 Collinwood 21 Heritage can you bounce back after a very disappointing loss--Hetitage 28 Wayne County 27 Competion will be tough in these three games MtP 42 Mcewen 24--
