  1. Congrats Anderson County, you guys beat a very good team tonight !
  2. alt1958: "Jordan's BBQ on Stuart Road is pretty good. My experience with BBQ is that it is very subjective, based on one's taste, but it's probably the best one in Cleveland at this point. Get off I- 75 at Exit 27, left at the light onto Huff Pkwy. Keep straight. Huff Pkwy turns into Stuart Rd at Hwy 11/Keith St (Bradley Square Mall and Wal Mart on each side of the road at this intersection) and at the top of the hill on the right. To get to Bradley from there go back to Hwy 11/Keith St, turn left and go about 5 miles all the way down to the high school." Thanks for the info and GO WILDCATS !
  3. It should be a great game. Oak Ridge is peaking at a great time and has really improved during the past 3 games. I'm looking forward to traveling down to the game Friday night. Can anyone recommend a good Bar-BQ place in Cleveland? Thanks, and GO WILDCATS ! !
  4. Congratulations to the Oak Ridge Wildcats ! ! What a game 24-21 ! !
  5. The Oak Ridge defense is really going to have to step up to stop their running game. But I think Oak Ridge will win by 2 in a close one. GO WILDCATS ! !
  6. I hope coach Blade stays at Oak Ridge, I don't think they are going to move back to middle Tennessee. What ever happened to the Ravenwood coach they had in 2005 when they won the state?
  7. After reading some of these posts I can't help but laugh. It takes about 6 months to even get a Q clearance to work at the plants. If someone is given a job here what kind of guarantee would Oak Ridge have that he would live here? Everyone who lives here knows that there is a lot more people who live in Knox. county that works at the DOE plants than there is who lives in Oak Ridge and it's been like that for many, many years. I'm part of the Oak Ridge past that you speak of (I played on the 1979 state championship team) and I don't know of anyone who was given a job at DOE or anywhere else just because he had a son who played great. That is just a rumor that was started way back in the late 70's by some jealous Knoxville coaches, One of the main reason's Oak Ridge has had such good teams in the past is because we had about 100 players on our team and that was without a freshman team. I don't want be like Maryville or anyone else, why should I? Is the glory days all in the past for Oak Ridge? I don't think so at all. All of the fans I know are very excited about our program and we all agree that Oak Ridge probably has the best coaching staff in place right now than we have since 1991 or even 1980. There IS a big turn out for our away games as well as our home games. Tailgating has become huge (just try to get a seat at Big Ed's before a game). The fans are excited, I know for a fact that the team is excited so all I can really say is: GO WILDCATS !
  8. That statement was too stupid to even respond to. Oak Ridge wins a close one this Friday 28-24 ! Whoever wins, it's not going to be a run away. By the way, look for a BIG improvement in the Wildcat defense, Spencer Gulmire is the NEW linebacker coach ! ! ROLL WILDCATS ROLL ! !
  9. Really?!?! Are you joking?!? Jose was kicking butt tonight. If this is true it's great news !
  10. If Oak Ridge can stop the Powell running game, Oak Ridge will win. If they can't, look for Powell to pull off the upset. Powell has a pretty good team. My prediction: Oak Ride wins 28-24 in a close one.
  11. Was there really a new assistant coach on the sideline tonight?
  12. Oak Ridge played a pretty good game tonight. With some work on defense against the run they should have a pretty good year. So, who was this new coach on the Oak Ridge sideline? lol
  13. That's why I said "4" or 5 years, lol. Of course with Spencer & company the 2005 team had more talent. But if Blade had been our coach we would had won that state championship game.
  14. It seems like I have been watching another Oak Ridge team. Or maybe some people are just naturally pessimistic. The way I see it Oak Ridge has a great coach in coach Blade. He already has turned this team around in only one season. The team is stronger, faster and better than they have been in at least 4 or 5 years. Oak Ridge would have lost last Friday's game with Farragut by 30 points or more if S.S. was still the coach. Coach Blade HAS turned this team around. Coach Blade IS all about player development and he's a expert on turning boys into men and he has a long history of turning football programs around. Oak Ridge will continue to get better as the season goes on.
  15. Oak Ridge will bring a lot of people tonight. It should be one of the biggest crowds that Central has this season. I haven't been there since the great 1991 playoff game and I can't wait. It's great to see these two tradition rich, legionary football programs play each other again. It will be a great game !
  16. Oak Ridge should win, but Central is a lot better than they were last year and it should be close. GO WILDCATS !
  17. I agree 100% ! I'm not concerned about this team at all. By the end of this season this team will be playing great. By 2012 & 2013 Oak Ridge will be playing deep into the playoffs.
  18. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> This is a Oak Ridge thread......so were not going to "shut up". If you have a problem with it, why are you reading a Oak Ridge thread? If you don't want to read about Oak Ridge, go read the Clinton thread. I'm just messing with ya, anyway /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ........Don't worry, I'm not going to offer you any Big Ed's pizza. Now there be more for me anyway..............Yum /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  19. Actually, Oak Ridge won that baseball game at Clinton this past season, I know, I was there. And it was the Clinton team.....the host team, that walked off the field. So, are you going to take my bet or not. I don't have any problem buying a Clinton fan a pizza......It's called sportsmanship. But I really don't think Clinton will get ahead by 3 touchdowns, so I guess it doesn't matter. But Clinton does have one of the best QB's in the state, I will give you that. I hope UT gets him. But my other bet. Like I said, if Clinton can go 5 years without vandalizing our field I will buy you a truck at Fox Toyota. But if Clinton can't go 5 years without vandalizing our field.......Can you buy me a Dean Stallings Ford? (that is, if Ford is still in business in 5 years)...............By the way, it was easy to see it was Clinton who vandalized our field.....I think it was orange and black that was painted all over our steps, field, stands and concession stand. Does Oak Ridge play another team that wears orange and black? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Do you remember coach Gaddis letting Clinton's football team use our shoes for one game or not?? Also our football "coaching staff" didn't try to pick a fight with Clinton's coaching staff. It was one Oak Ridge coach picking a fight with the entire Clinton coaching staff. (Maybe he wasn't a great coach, but he had guts and he just didn't want to see our goal posts torn down.................again). The Clinton coaching staff wasn't innocent in that incident ether.
  20. Yes......I remember that game, but most of the scores of games I don't remember......But vandalizing........I will remember that for a long time. I wonder why he didn't comment about Gaddis letting Clinton use our shoes? I guess you could call that selective memory. The day before Oak Ridge beat Clinton 74-0 with their 3rd string........Clinton vandalized our field. I think it motivated the team.......A LOT.........Any coach that would tell their team to take a knee for the entire 2nd half of a football game isn't much of a coach. If I remember correctly, Clinton kept their first string in the whole game last year. But I'll tell ya what I will do, if Clinton is ahead of Oak Ridge by more than 3 touchdowns in the 2nd half of this year's football game and they take their all star QB out of the game, I will buy you a pizza at Big Ed's after the game Dragon92. But if they keep him in, you can buy me one. And I will make another bet with you, if Clinton can go the next 5 years without vandalizing the Oak Ridge field, I will buy you a truck at Fox Toyota. How's that for sportsmanship?
  21. In the game Oak Ridge beat Clinton 74-0, Oak Ridge took out most of their first string at half time. What do you think the coach should have told his 2nd and 3rd string......to lay down and take a knee on every play? Do you think if Clinton had a chance to beat Oak Ridge 54-0..........They wouldn't try? Do you think they would take their first string out? I don't. With all the vandalizing that I have seen at the Oak Ridge field..........I haven't lost a "little" respect for Clinton.......I have lost "a lot" of respect for Clinton. Maybe you don't remember, but I remember a playoff game when Joe Gaddis let the Clinton team use our shoes when they had a playoff game on artificial turf. That's real sportsmanship. Not trying to vandalize another team's field every two years.
  22. [/quote Did you just call me shortbus? According the rules I don't think you will be on here very long. Why are you on this thread anyway, don't they have one for 2 A? Blackknight7 and bladerunner, don't pay any attention to them, I don't /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ...........But it does make good bulletin board material. Even when someone shows good sportsmanship and brags about the Maryville program, they will still just put you down. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> All it shows is their own poor sportsmanship.......One thing for sure, they sure didn't learn it from coach Quayle's. In fact, if he reads Coach-T, I'm sure he's very ashamed of them. I can't wait to see them play in 6-A. Even the worst team in Oak Ridge history, the 2008 team, beat them in pre-season and they also beat William Blount and Heritage in the regular season.
  23. My pick for east Tennessee this fall: 1. Ooltewah 2. Maryville 3. Kingsport DB 4. Farragut 5. Oak Ridge
  24. That has to be the dumbest post I have ever read....... "QUOTE (goatboy @ May 21 2009 - 08:53 AM) I don't know about Maryville being that dominant. When you look at the period of time in which they've had pretty good teams, I believe a lot of it was due to the fact that so many area power teams (Central, Halls, Powell, Oak Ridge, etc) were going through some changes with staff and just didn't have a real high level of talent. So can you really say a team is dominant when they haven't played competition that is up to it's normal levels??? I don't think so. Coach Quayles does do a good job and has some good coaches on staff, but I think they've been beneficiaries of the downturn rather than really raising the level of play in the area. I think they'll continue to have some good teams, but reclassification may be the final nail in the foot for a decent run." I agree, that was also one of the dumbest posts I have ever read too. Maryville has had a lot of great teams, but it sure wasn't because they played weak teams. "goatboy" Maryville didn't even play Oak Ridge. As long as coach Quarles is at Maryville........Maryville will always have a great team. Even though they will be playing in 6-A next year, look for Maryville to make at least a deep run into the playoffs and probably to the state championship. Most everyone I know has a lot of respect for Maryville, unless they are just jealous of them. I wish Maryville the best and I hope Maryville wins every game they play next year, except one........lol.
