  1. Overall, football in West Tennessee was down this year, big time. Milan cannot do anything about how good or bad their opponents are a given year. Many of the games Milan had on the schedule are old rivalries that will always be there. I thought with Milan moving up and changing regions that the Dyersburg's, Crockett County's, Dyer County's and Camden's could all beat Milan. But Milan beat all their opponents on their schedule so that's they are where they are.
  2. Everyone in the west knows alcoa will be there, everyone in the east knows alcoa will come back champs. They are supporting their region. Do you expect them to cheer on milan? They just know what milan is in for, and they feel their programs could compete with them. When will a team from the west step up for one game? There is a difference in supporting your region and bashing the opposing team. I understand though, I would be disappointed if I went home every year to the same team, TWICE.
  3. I love the Louden and CAK fans that come on here and talk down to Milan. How they can't beat Alcoa. OBVIOUSLY you can't! Everyone knows in West TN, that Alcoa will be in the SHIP every year, because no one over there can step up for one game and win. WHERE has LOUDEN AND CAK been the past 6 years??? You can't lose to Alcoa twice, every year, then come on here and talk about how the Alcoa team will destroy another team. Sour grapes. If I lose to a team TWICE, every year, I might just jump on that wagon and down-talk the other team the next week too. NOT.
  4. The York game has nothing to do with Milan vs. Alcoa. Neither does Alcoa playing Louden to the end. I believe that score at half was 7-3?? It doesn't matter. York got beat 45-15, and Milan played their 3rd string basically the entire 4th quarter . York is home because their defense was garbage. So stop bringing it up. They went as far as they could. This game is between the two best teams in the State. Both are great. This game will be physical. If Alcoa plays like they are capable, they win 24-10. If Milan plays like they are capable, they win 17-14. It all comes down to who plays the best game.
  5. Coleman had a high ankle sprain early in the year that lingered. He then had a stress fracture in his foot. He came back and played against York. He was chop-blocked low and injured his ankle again. He will play.
  6. To answer the question about Milan's D-Line: Pretty solid; Not great. Not bad either. With #88 Coleman in the middle, they do very, very well against the run. Without him, its not very impressive. Milan lost their other DT stud, to torn ACL. Milan relies heavily on 4 linebackers. Williamson, Bledsoe, Nance, and Gilbert.
  7. Your crazy if you think Toney is better than Cobb was. That is unreal. From what I've seen and heard, Gilbert and Toney are very similar. They both have good O-Lines, with Alcoa's being better than Milan's. Gilbert is very strong. He breaks tackles. He has a great stiff arm. BUT he also wouldn't be as good on another team. Toney is a very good back. Everyone knows that. I just wanted to get an opinion on if he was a game changer, a beast, an absolute stud?? OR a good back behind a GREAT OLINE. I saw him play against Milan last year, I left the game not even remembering him. I just remembered Alcoa's offensive line.
  8. Nowhere in my post did I trash talk. I did not state how great Milan is, nor of how Milan will beat Alcoa. I stated facts and how Milan COULD win the game. Read the post again. In special I meant as SPECIAL: as in a Randall Cobb? or a Patrick Willis? Special as in the next level. Has Toney recieved any D-I offers?
  9. The record he has is special. Could Toney be such an impact without his O-Line?? Like last year's RB Cunningham, from Goodpasture, He was something special with a decent O-line. Alcoa's O-Line makes Toney.
  10. Does MILAN have talent the answer is yes, but do they have Mr. Football the answer is no, can they stop Mr. Football the answer is no. ALCOA wins by 21. We have our own Mr. Football. AVERY WILLIAMSON. Trust me, Milan isn't worried about Toney. They are worried about the offensive line and filling the gaps. Toney is nothing special. He is just a system running back that benefits from his great offensive line. and you know it.
  11. I'm glad to see Milan back to State again this year. For a small town, it is something big to get there back to back years. Milan is the under dog in this game. Alcoa could be the best team in the whole State, aside from MUS. Last year, Alcoa didn't really impress me on offense. A 4th down half back pass, and a field position touchdown did win the game. However, their defense was the best I've seen ran in awhile. They are very fast on the edges. It will be a huge upset if Milan can pull it off. Give Alcoa credit till someone beats them. Milan can win. Time of Possession and plugging the run should be priorities #1 and #2 for Milan. IF #88 Coleman can go, he will help tremendously. Avery Williamson is a force along with OLB Bledsoe. Milan needs to attack them on the corners from what I've heard. Milan has very athletic receivers that need to step up in this game. It will take mistakes and turnovers for Milan to win. They have the talent. I believe it will be low-scoring. Milan 14 Alcoa- 13
  12. I'm a Milan fan and I follow high school football very closely. All the nominees are deserving, obviously. But AVERY WILLIAMSON should be on the list. There is no question about it. If you've seen him play, you would know this. Even Alcoa caught a glimpse of what he does every week in last year's State Championship. He is by far the biggest snub of the year. Gilbert is a very good back and Milan fans wouldn't want anyone else , but he shouldn't be a finalist. He has great numbers and runs very, very hard. However, he isn't a game changer. IMO, Toney isn't either. That record is solely on the Alcoa offensive line. I've seen them play. When you go to a game, you should walk away from it after saying, "WOW, that kid was amazing. He should be Mr. Football. I didn't do that. And neither did anyone I have talked to. I'm sure he is a good kid, but he isn't an extreme talent that a Mr. Football should be. He is a just someone that hits the whole that is provided. IMO.
  13. yeah, just give Toney the rock down in the redzone again....and watch him get his head taken off like last year when Williamson closelined him. better call the half back pass again this year.
  14. Listen.. Say what you want about Milans halftime score to York 15-14..ok..Final was 43-15. Say what you want about Alcoa..last week they were in a dogfight 7-3 start of the 4th quarter..they go on to win 21-3. Say what you want about both teams...but everyone knows deep down Avery Williamson vs. Toney is going to be a showdown. PERIOD! Toney sets a state record for TDs, last year Williamson set a record for tackles in a game, 22! Both are in beast mode. Milan and Alcoa are the best teams in the state. One will be champion. We'll find out next week. In my personal opinion, Milans better than last year. This game will not be high scoring. If Milan does win, it will be no more than 10 points. If Alcoa wins, it will be no more than 10 points. Bank on it. These are the two best defenses in 3A Ball, no question. Gilbert needs to have a coming out party next week. If they get him going, it'll be fun to watch.
  15. BTW, this is the "8th" playoff game AT Johnnie Hale Stadium in two years. 8 for 8. Wow.
  16. Give York credit where CREDIT is due. #41 was in beast mode for York. After the first half, you could have heard a pin drop. Yorks offense was executed perfectly against Milan in the first half. The second half was a different story. Milan shoved it down their throat the whole game. York had too many players going both ways to stop Milan's offense in the 2nd half of the game. Been waiting on a "big play" out of the defense. They are always tough, but I finally got what I wanted. A pick-6 by Avery Williamson. What a play!. Its one thing to tip the ball up in the air, its another to come down with it, its ANOTHER to take it 80 yards to the crib in a tight game in the semifinals. Go Milan.
  17. heres an article on the york/goodpasture game...only article I could find to see what york has. and they are purple and yellow. http://www.herald-citizen.com/index.cfm ... 8C90A31D87 I have a feeling Camden was better than York. Milan 56 York 0
  18. Milans winning 52-0 with 8 Minutes left in the 2ND QUARTER.. 45-0 end of first quarter.
  19. Passing Stats: Alcoa: Chase James 2-5, 15 yds Milan: Justin coleman 2-11, 2 ints, 4 yds Rushing Stats: Alcoa: Jaron Toney 25 for 106 yds, 1 TD Alcoa: Taharin Tyson 10 for 41 yds, 0 TD Milan: Williamson 5 for 64 yds, 0 TD 1st Downs: Alcoa 13 Milan 6 Penalties: Alcoa 6 for 60 yds Milan 5 for 37 yds Scoring by quarters 1st: AHS 7 MHS 0, 2nd: AHS 13 MHS 0, 3rd: AHS 28 MHS 7, 4th: AHS 28 MHS 14 Total Yards: Alcoa 60 for 172 yds Milan 39 for 135 yds Rushing Total Yards: Alcoa 54 for 154 yds Milan 28 for 131 yds Fumbles: Alcoa 0 Milan 1-1 Punts: Alcoa 5 for 29 yds Milan 5 for 32 yds First downs were the key, and field position. Milan covers a punt and its a 7 pt game. Domination is what Alcoa had in for Goodpasture in the years prior to 2008. Back to main topic, Milan should be facing Alcoa again. Avery Williamson should get the nod for Mr. Football.
  20. Milan will be in the Finals. Avery Williamson is the best player in 2A. A lot of talk about Williamson and Robinson for Mr Football...When alcoa and milan played head to head last year, williamson had 22 solo tackles and broke a state record. You tell me whos the best.
  21. alcoa collects out of zone players. teams in west tn play with whats in the city limits.
  22. Nobody stopped avery williamson in the title game last year. he's a ball hawk
  23. Avery Williamson at MLB for Milan and Crocketts running game will be a sight to see. Classic!
  24. imo, milan will be back against alcoa in the SCG(state championship game). What key players do Alcoa return? Nobody wants to see Avery Williamson again this year. That's for sure. Milan would have to come up with wrinkles to beat Alcoa. A lot of them. Maybe go back to the John Tucker days and have a totally different offense week to week.
  25. so somebody explain to me the answers to the following questions... has milan clinched home field for some playoff games? who will they play in the playoffs?????
