  1. Please comment on the South Pittsburg/Polk game....otherwise post on your own thread. Nobody on here cares about the "powerhouse" chargers.
  2. Uncle Dave says that is just your opinion. Have you even seen them play??? Probably not! What team do you support? I support neither team. Uncle Dave have you ever seen a high school football game in the Atlanta area????? Have you ever seen a high school game in Central Florida?????? Being a good athlete is relative to where you live and who you play. My opnion was not a knock on your players as good solid football players, but as athletes. If there were so many athletes where were they against Boyd Buc??? Speed never goes into a slump Uncle Dave... big fish little pond. Those teams from Central Florida and Atlanta, Georgia don't want any of the Pirates!!!! They will get their feelings hurt!! Once again I ask, have you seen the Pirates play??? If not, you have no opinion on their "athletes" or "team". All the cards fell in place for Boyd that night, but that is in the past.
  3. Well, it is early to make a prediction, but I won't have time to view the board tomorrow since I will be the "Boss" at work. Like I have mentioned in earlier posts, I think Polk is a good team, but they have not seen a team like the Pirates all year. The speed and hard nose play of the Pirates will be the deciding factor. The Pirates will roll in this one. My prediction: Pirates - 35 Kitty Cats - 14 GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. The only thing I got to say to this post is Same here PowerP....these Polk fans are going to be disappointed if they think they will hold the Mighty Pirates to 7 points!!!
  5. Polk would struggle with Signal Mtn, Marion Co, and Boyd so don't act like ya'll have played any powerhouse teams. The Pirate beatdown is coming...I just hope those wildcats can recover after the beating they will take Friday night....Pirates by at least 3 or 4 tds.
  6. We are beatable but remember Terrell did not play in that game and everybody knows that our offense goes through him cause he can run it or throw it and has made good decesions this year I always thought football was played with 11 on each side? So since he didn't play, no one took his place? Or are you stating that the guy who took his place wasn't any good? Pretty sad indictment from a Pirate fan who thinks it's all about one person. Just be glad Terrell did not play with the remainder of the team 2 weeks ago. I quoted on the Boyd board well before the game that the only chance the Bucs had was if Terrell did not show up. That unfortunately came true but the remainder of the team still almost beat BB anyway. It is a team that wins and loses together. Take the best player off any team and I guarantee you under the circumstances they would struggle as well. Just keep running that mouth...it will be silenced by either Friendship Christian or Trousdale Co.
  7. This is the funniest post so far....SP recruits from Alabama??? I guess that is why North Jackson is not any good this year...we stole all their good players. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!
  8. Exactly what i was thinking. This game will be close.......until the kickoff. Pirate rule will be in effect by 3rd quarter again. The Kitty Cats won't know what hit them!!!
  9. In my opinion, this will be the last tough game for SP. I don't think anyone in 1A will be able to handle the Pirates in the playoffs....but with that said they can't take anyone lightly. I think Polk has a good team and is well coached, but I just don't think they have seen the speed the Pirates possess. The Pirates are playing at championship level and the Wildcats will have to play their best game of the year to have any chance at winning. Just as I said in the Boyd thread, the only chance I see Polk having in this game is if Terrell is not playing.
  10. You Spitt fans should start reading previous posts before you make your own. The excuses of poor field conditions, sick players, and backup QB's have already been posted too many times to count. I'm a little shocked you didn't repeat the statement about the rich private school kids being able to get flu shots. Got to hand it to you though 94P, your conspiracy theory about Boyd not wanting to play on Thursday was a new one. It is sure to be repeated for pages, and pages, to come. You Boyd fans crack me up....you know it is true. When the decision was made, all the Boyd faithful were pumping their fists because they had just seen our quarterback go home. Plus, Grider was shaking his head the whole time the pa man was annoucing that both coaches agreed to play.....I don't think we had much of a choice. Like I said I hope you get what you deserve.
  11. That is a joke!! Lookout Valley will be mercy ruled by the 2nd quarter. Polk will be a good game, but I just don't think they will be able to contain the Pirate offense or run on them.
  12. This game should have never been played last night....it put all the players, coaches, and fans at risk when a dangerous storm system came thru. I am going to say what most people will not say. Boyd would not play this game Thursday night because they knew it would rain and they wanted the advantage it would give them since the Pirates rely on the pass a lot more this year. All other schools in the area with any sense played Thursday. They had to have this win for the playoffs plain and simple....and how better to get it with the starting quarterback sick as a dog last night. Once that was common knowledge, SP could not leave without forfeiting the game. I hope they get what they deserve when they have to play Trousdale....that will be a beatdown. I was not impressed with Boyd at all with all the hype....it is clear besides Red Bank and SP, they have played a bunch of cupcakes. Now for the Pirates.....defense played an exceptional game. True, if we don't block the two punts, SP may not have scored but if Boyd had not blocked a punt, it would have been a tighter game. And what was up with the roughing the kicker flag that was picked up?? The calls were pretty even last night but that one was a bad one. It is too bad that these two teams can't meet again in the playoffs because I think the outcome to the game would be very different. One thing about it....this game does not hurt the Pirates at all. They need to hold their heads up high and get ready for the remainder of the season. GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
  13. I like many BB and SP fans have looked forward to this game all year. Weather should not be a factor...at least the late Coach Grider used to say "It is raining on their side of the field too." The only way Boyd wins this game is if Terrell stays home tomorrow night. He is running the spread offense to perfection and should lead the Pirates to victory. I have tremendous respect for the Bucs, but I don't think they have seen an offense or defense like SP this year. My prediction: SP - 35 BB - 14 GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
  14. Well, it is time for the annual Whitwell Tiger beatdown. This has not been much of a game for years. When I played back in the early 90's, Whitwell was a good program and had a good team. I am sure they are much improved from last year, but they will lose by at least 5-6 touchdowns....and if they score it will be on our 2nd or 3rd string defense. My prediction: Pirates: 63 Tigers: 14 GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Great win last night by the Pirates!! I think they definitely played almost a perfect game on both sides of the ball. Terrell was right on the money on every throw last night. If the offense continues to play that well every game, this Pirate team will be hard to beat. I will have to say that I was expecting a better game but I think the Mighty Pirates took all the fight out of Cascade early in the game....really glad that the Pirates proved me and others wrong. Good luck next week. Mercy rule Signal Mountain!!
  16. It is almost Friday and I for one am ready to watch the Pirates play at home for a change. I believe Cascade will be the best team we have played so far this year and unless our play improves on offense this week, this one could go in the loss category. This team as a whole is young and will not be blowing people out like we saw the last two seasons. The quality of opponents this year are better than we have had in years. Upcoming games with Signal Mtn, Boyd Buchanan, Central and Polk County will all be tough games. I hope they prove me wrong, but I think it will be a few more games before our offense starts clicking. With that said, I am going to put some faith in the Pittsburg boys and predict they win a tough, hard fought game. My prediction: South Pittsburg - 21 Cascade - 14 GO PIRATES!!!!!
  17. Someone earlier from Cascade asked how this year's team would stack up against last year's Trousdale team. Last year's team was full of experienced players...young men that fought hard the year before and won the state championship. Their experience in big games is what helped give SP a chance of winning the TC game in a very hostile environment. This year's team has talent, but is very young. At this point in the season, they would not be ready to play last year's Trousdale team....sorry, I just don't see it. By the end of the season, this will be a very battle tested team and should be very improved by playoff time. I think if all us Pirate fans will give this group more time to improve, we will be pleased with the progress. Yes, there are several games coming up that SP could lose, but I would rather play the tougher schedule than to play some of the horrible teams we have had to play the last couple of years. I think this will be a good game Friday night. SP has no reason to brag until we beat some quality opponents. Cascade will be the first of 4 or 5 teams that will test us on both sides of the ball.
  18. Zone, I understand what you are saying....if we could have picked up some blocks or gave Terrell more time last night, the score would have been different. I have confidence in him because he stepped up last year at Tyner and delivered when they shut down the run. I think all us former Pirates are just stuck in the past with the power football...but like you said, it will not work if the boys don't execute. I guess myself remember when we always set up the pass with the run game. Most teams have always lined up defensively against SP and tried to make us beat them with the pass and with the spread we have kind of reversed the role on everyone. Defensively, I don't think SP can play much better than they are now, but against a good, solid team like Cascade, we will have to be more effective on offense. I have heard Cascade has something like 20 seniors on the team??? Can you confirem that?
  19. I think the biggest thing that hurt the Pirates last night was being over confident. That is dangerous when you play a rivalry game. They will need to step it up and practice hard this week to beat a good Cascade team. Execution will be key on offense. I am not a fan of the spread because it is not a physical offensive attack, but if the coachs believe in it, we need to give it a little more time. The defense is definitely ahead of the offense at this point so hopefully we will get on track in the next couple of games on offense. I expect this week's game to be another good one. We at South Pittsburg welcome the folks from Cascade!
  20. Congrats to the Pirates in a tough win last night! Both teams did not play well offensively but that could also be due to both defenses playing very well. For both teams to win the majority of their games, I feel like they need to do the following: The Pirates need more consistency out of the passing game....period. This offense is built around the quarterback playing well. Terrell has just not been consistent enough to this point and he will need to improve before the Pirates get deeper in their schedule or they may lose a few games. Jonathan Sellers and Malcolm Jones need to be more involved in the offensive attack as well. Jonathan may have played last night, but I did not see him on offense if he did. I don't understand him sitting on the sidelines when he played so well last week. The Warriors need to stick with the veer attack. The few times the quarterback actually read the defense, he made good decisions. I know some Warrior fans are not big on C. Brocks, but if he is not used more in their offense, this could be a long season for the Warriors.
  21. Well, it is finally the day of the big game!! Anybody in Marion County that does not get fired up for this game must be from Whitwell! I have been going back and forth about my thoughts on this game and I really feel like the Pirates will take care of business. Both teams have younger, less experienced players in the starting lineups tonight and how they respond on both sides of the ball I think will determine the outcome of the game. Anyone that has ever played in this annual rivalry can attest that the butterflies before this game feel like they are as big a buzzard! For the Pirates Jones, Robinson, Sellers, and Hale will be the playmakers to watch....for the Warriors Brocks, Rankin and Wells will be the ones. I think this will be a close game until the 3rd quarter and then the Pirates will pull away with a 4 straight win in the series. My prediction : Pirates 35 Warriors 21 GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
  22. Last night was my first time watching this year's team and I will have to say that I was impressed. There is definitely work to be done over the next few weeks, but this team has some very good young players that with more experience will be a hard team to beat as the season progresses. Offensively last night, the Pirates showed signs of greatness....if they can just cut down on the penalties and missed blocks, they will be able to dominate. Defensively this team did dominate. Grundy had a few big plays but 90% of the time last night the defense stiffled the Grundy offense. As far as next week, you can throw out how these teams have played so far this year. This is the game of the year and both teams will be ready to play. I still feel that the Pirates will win this one, but how much they win by will depend on whether they play a little more mistake free this coming Friday night. I hope Cam Cunningham the best. That injury reminded me of how I got hurt and never played again. Hopefully it is not a severe injury and he can play later in the season. GO PIRATES!!!
  23. Offensively, I think the Pirates will be just as explosive as they have been the last few years. I believe 28, 11, 35, and 24 will be your probable starters in the backfield next year. The coaches will have to do another rebuilding job on the O-line with only two starters coming back. I think the line play will be key again in 2009 for SP to be successful. Maybe someone can shed some light on who will be competing for starting positions in this area. They do return Terrell Robinson at quarterback and Malcolm Jones and wide out. I expect this tandem to put up some big numbers next year. Defensively, the coaches will have to fill several spots. Losing 2 D-line starters, 3 linebackers, and 3 in the secondary will definitely change the personel on defense. Once again, I think SP has the players to fill these positions. I am excited about next year??™s team and the new schedule. The 2009 edition of the Pirates will be a new group, but I think in the end will continue the winning tradition at South Pittsburg.
  24. Grunt, I wish I could have met up with you at the TC/SP game. I was so dang nervous before that game I did not even think to ask about meeting up with some of the old timers on CoachT. All of the TC/SP games have been exciting, but I think this year??™s game was the first time we were both pretty evenly matched. In the past one team has been just a little bit better than the other one. TC has a solid team. I really felt like SP would stiffen up on that last drive and keep TC from scoring, but good teams make plays. The big 30 yard run on third down just killed us. Anyway, we could talk about this game and the ???what ifs??? all day long. The simple fact is TC made the plays to win. Good luck to the Yellow Jackets Friday. I am sure you will be adding another gold ball to the trophy case!
  25. Kazam, buddy you are a class act. Too bad we could not come up there to Oneida this year. I think all three teams (TC, Oneida, SP) have their strengths and weaknesses. TC is evidently playing better football right now than both of us are that is for sure. All of the breaks in our game bounced their way, but that is usually because one team is doing things a little bit better than the other one. Anyway, congrats on a good season!
