I know its a long ride there but the game is stilled played and you still need to win!! The same Five Rivers Conference that dominated the MLC when it counted last year... THE PLAYOFFS! It was those same Volunteer Falcons that shut your mouth last year if I remember correctly!!!

First I would like to congratulate Cocke County on another hard fought game, this team has always had my respect for the times they are going through down there but continue to show up and fight you for four quarters every single week! They don't get the respect they deserve and that reminds me alot of another team who is turning that around now (VHS), and with that being said........ Way to go FALCONS!!!!!!!! It looks as if you guys paid some attention to Rider & Porter this week in practice! As if you had any choice but too. O-Line, what a difference a good week of practice can do and congrats for going out there and executing like we all knew you could. Defense, another stellar performance so just keep working hard and getting better every week. Keep your eyes on the prize and continue to work hard and gel as a team and all things are possible before you!

What is everyones opinion on this game? Can Cocke County pull another upset over the FALCONS? Can the FALCONS get over last weeks slow start and get the ship righted? Will Cocke County blitz all nite long after seeing last weeks tape? Lets hear it......

Not trying to be negative but..... who really cares?

East will not beat TN High! And the only thing that made East look good last Friday night was how poorly the Falcons played!

I'll start off by first saying that the defense played their "BUTTS" off all night long but were put into some bad situations and were on the field way to much! The defense stopped East's running game and contained Gaby pretty much all night but you could see where they got gassed at the end and getting robbed for that 4th down stop didn't help either! Although we should have never been in that situation to begin with, it was brought on by our own doing. I'm not sure if it was first game jitters or what but they didn't look like the same team from the scrimmages I seen earlier, the big question I think most of us had was how is the O-line going to perform? The coaches have some things to correct in that area and like I said I hope is was just first game jitters and nerves. Receivers got to do a better job of catching the ball and the QB needs to bring the passes down just a hair and they'll be fine plain and simple, but the receivers can't be scared to catch the ball either! This was a very winnable game for us if things could have just gotten on track offensively a little bit, like coach Rider said we had 3 turnovers and they had 3 TD's its as simple as that. The boys just need to settle down a little bit for their next game against Cocke County, practice hard with the coaches corrections this week, forget last weeks game, and go out and have fun beating Cocke County!

I'm picking the Falcons in this game as well, although I did pick them to win the last three years as well and we got beat in the fourth quarter all three years. I agree it all depends on how the O-line performs and protects the QB, I think if they do that early then East wont be able to stack the line and the run will open up on the outside edges. But the coaches will have to keep them honest and guessing because they have an extremely smart coach. If the Falcons can overcome their recent past history of getting out of the gates slow and get confidence behind them with a early win.... I think a playoff spot is a minimum they can count on. I realize I posted this a little early but I knew that I wasn't going to be able to attend nor did I think I would be back here tonite either.

How did all the teams look at the jamboree? Who looked the most impressive and after seeing it how do you see the conference finishing out? I sure hated to miss it!! /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Anybody care to share their thoughts on Wednesdays scrimmage? This should be a really good test for the Falcons and they should learn alot from it, I hope all the boys come away injury free.

I thought the defense looked really good, especially when they got backed up on their side of the field for almost an entire quarter it seemed like and didn't give up a score. They are definitely not as "big" as last years team but seem to possess alot of speed and get to the ball well and will lay a lick when they get there. Biggest thing for improvement is all the arm tackling going on instead of wrapping up and waiting for help, something I know the coaches will see on film and have addressed before season. Overall I think the Falcons looked good and have an outstanding chance of making the playoffs again this year for the 3rd straight time!! The conference is really going to be a tough one this year so it will take a few balls bouncing our way... but it always seems to be that way in every football season. I couldn't disagree with you more! I know scrimmages are for working on things and finding your depth positions and all, but there is no way you can tell me that by "winning" a scrimmage against a equal opponent doesn't do wonders for your teams confidence! Just take a look at the sidelines the next time you go to a "practice" and look at the differences between the side thats winning and the side thats losing...... PRICELESS!!

I have nothing but respect for Crockett and the way they line up and play every single down against whoever is in front of them... but until Crockett find a way to develop some depth on their roster they will always be #7 or #8 in this conference. The same can be said after the realignment as well. I'm not hating on the kids at all thats just the way it is.

That was why I threw that out there! Just a little bone to throw into the pit and get them talking, I was there last year and Volunteer definitely 100% beat GC in that scrimmage. It was a good scrimmage and hopefully we'll have another one this year at their place.

I haven't heard much about Gate City this year so I wanted to hear everyones opinion on the scrimmage this Friday? I'm looking forward to being at the scrimmage and seeing how the Falcons look this year, I hope this is as good as a scrimmage as last years was and all the boys stay injury free. I'll give a prediction that the Falcons will win this scrimmage just like last year. VHS - 28 GC - 21
