He is going from a Private school to a Public school as long as he lives in the Hendersonville area I don't see the problem.

People always talk about how to make High School football in Tennessee more competitive with surrounding states! Making one of the top players in the country and possibly the #1 player in your state ineligible because he is going from a Private school to a Public school isn't one of them! Like I said TSSAA does some stupid stuff like back in the day they wouldn't let I think it was Sonny Gray play in a National High School All-Star game. I think they said if he did he would forfeit his Senior year eligibility. I'm sure there is a few more that I can't think off right now.

Looks like another stupid move by the T$$AA!! Going form a Private school to a Public school should have been eligible immediately and it shouldn't have been given a second thought! IMO The same if he went Public to Private!

I want to let the Marion Co. folks know that we appreciate those that bought BBQ and let you know how polite your players were when they came in to eat after the scrimmage and they thanked us all for the meal.

Yes! Yes it would! I'd be pissed and so would a great many other people! Keep in mind we are the Indians who happen to be a county named Sequatchie which is in the heart of the Sequatchie Valley. Sequatchie is named after a Cherokee Chief Sequachee.

Small town rivalries try Marion County/South Pittsburg or Sequatchie County/Bledsoe County

Apparently Bledsoe County as well!?

Sequatchie County hosts Marion County & Warren County Thursday! A few more may show but those are the only one's for sure as of now!

Do explain? I talked with Coach Caine before he even began to finalize his staff months ago one guy he wanted to hire couldn't make the finances work to move his family from another state, another one never got the proper teaching license and a third changed his mind and decided not to come. Coach Caine has now hired a couple of very good coaches. IMO You can't just go hire anyone you want they have to have the proper qualifications. The AD is only in his 2nd year and is probably the best AD we have had in years! It seems that a lot of folks (locally) like to hold grudges on certain people where it be principles, ADs or higher administration. However do you ever stop and open your eyes to what Sequatchie Co. Athletics have to offer? The administration for years has worked very hard (along with booster/community help) to give the students the best athletic facilities of any public school in the Chattanooga area not to mention one of the best in the state. I mean they just built a field house for Softball. We have an indoor practice facility that any team can use! How many public schools have an indoor facility or a softball field house? They are now starting on a soccer field/practice field. Don't forget academics as well with the new STEM Center addition being built on the HS!

OldIndian, Did you attend any of spring practice, go to either spring scrimmage? They looked very good probably the best they have looked in spring ball in years. IMO I agree, Coach Caine hasn't won a game as a HC (And could flop as a HC). However he isn't some young pup that doesn't know what he's doing. This isn't like when they hired Coach Armstrong back in the early 2000's! While he hasn't been the head man he's been around long enough to know what to do. He's been a coordinator/position coach at four different colleges. Has been a coordinator at several large classification HS's across the south including Asst. HC at Shiloh Christian School in Arkansas. I also think this Coaching Staff is better than any we have had in years. There's not a lot of them but I think they know what they are doing!

Truthfully just my opinion but if everyone stays relatively healthy, I don't see any game that Sequatchie shouldn't be in and be able to win and I think they can compete for the Region title. I see no one on the 2015 schedule that gives me pause the way the old district/region schedules did. Not to take anything away from the teams of the new region but when you have to face Signal Mtn., Notre Dame, Boyd Buchanan, Marion Co. and South Pittsburg and rival game Bledsoe Co. that's some tough sledding. Especially when two or three of those might be back to back to back like the last couple of years when we did finish with ND, Boyd & Signal. So throwing for over 2000 yards and 22 touchdowns isn't lighting it up anymore? Traditionally year in and year Sequatchie does have the better athletes!

Sequatchie got a QB transfer last week (6'2,190) threw for over 2000 and 20 tds last year!

Based on what I have seen its very similar to what Butch Jones and Tennessee is running. Sequatchie will still run the ball!

I'm aware of that but I wouldn't go that for in saying that many would get playing time. As for as the ones that decided not to play, well that is there problem not Coach Caine or any of the other players that are on the team and ready to go! The ones that are there looked very good in the spring. I don't know what they lost from last season after going (9-3) but the Indians dominated Hixson in everything they did in the scrimmage (7on7, OL-DL drills, scrimmage action) with the exception of the big OL that was All-State last year. I wasn't able to attend but heard from several that the Grace scrimmage was even worse! Barring injuries or any other unforeseen happenings I think 7 wins is a possibility with this new schedule and I don't see any game that we shouldn't be competitive in. I heard the coach say that the goal is to not only make the Playoffs but to host a 1st rd. game!

Do tell?, The kids seem like they would run through brick walls for the coaches! They also had no problems in the way they handled Spring Practice and dominated in there scrimmages!

To be honest Sequatchie was probably the faster team out there. IMO They had a couple of long runs and got receivers behind the defense on several long pass plays. They have 7 or 8 guys that are pretty good size lineman they dominated the LOS yesterday. They also have one out that they hope to get back by the start of the season that goes around 275lbs. Not real sure on the upcoming Seniors, probably 8-12? Maybe more I haven't seen a roster yet.

I was surprised!! Sequatchie looked very good against Hixson this evening! The Indians scored 3 scores to zero in 7 on 7 work. Then pretty much dominated in the scrimmage action scoring 4 touchdowns in shutting out the Wildcats. The defense looked impressive, I think Coach Caine is the man for the job from what I can tell the kids would run through a brick wall for him! Sequatchie is dressing around 50-55 I think and should expect 10-12 freshman to join them once summer workouts start. I don't think Coach Caine will allow anyone but incoming Freshman to join the team unless they transfer in. They are scheduled to wrap up spring Thursday with another scrimmage at Grace Baptist!
