  1. Now come on Alcoa's second string at number 5 don't you think that is a little too low. But does it really matter who is 2-9 because none of them can even play with Alcoa. Alcoa is at least 30 points better than any 2A.
  2. -------------s --------s---b----s----c ------c-e--t---t--e--b ---------o o x o o o o ---------o o ---------o ---------o But I have a few questions why is no one under center to take snap? Why are you running a gimmick defense like the 4-2-5? and what can you do offensively out of this formation?
  3. Yes, it helps the player and the school if the player is a year more physicaly advanced, it is a situation with no downside. But the way you addressed the question it seems that you disagree and I would like to know why. oldrebel2 after reviewing my comments I have realized I may have presented a slight inaccuracy instead of saying most potenialy athletic males, I probably should have said all males who do not excel exceedingly in academics are put in Junior Primary but the sentiment of my comments was accurate.
  4. It appears you have taken offense to my comments when none was intended one fellow mentioned that his son had played with many of the players being mentioned on this board even though his son was in a more advanced grade. He asked for an explanation and I provided one, and an accurate one at that. I did not demean Maryville for this but in fact gave my utmost and sincere praise for such a program. I believe this program was in fact one of the reason Patton Robinette repeated 8th grade to catch up physically with his classmates because when he was at Maryvile he forwent his year of junior primary. I am sorry you do not appreciate what I have said but it is the answer to the question that was posed.
  5. I believe you meant to say that he does not make sense (as opposed to since), or you just forgot to finish your post. I am sure its the vernacular with which you speak that prevents you from recognizing the difference in the two words. But this exemplifies my earlier point that football knowldedge in white house is limited to white house much like the knowledege of the english language in white house is kept within the confines of white house causing such errors to be made, it is not your fault you just did not any know better, just like your knowledge of football.
  6. Generaly every male student who is potentialy athletic is placed in Junior primary at Maryvile this is a grade between kindergarten and 1st grade so yes every Maryvile football player is a year older than the average player at other local schools. This does provide a slight competitive advantage especialy in middle school and I do not understand why other schools do not do this to aid in the developement of athletics. As for this years freshmen West, Tate, Guy, and Robinette will be the future stars for the rebels, the others I would not expect spectacular careers out of but they will be very solid contributors.
  7. Alcoa wins by as many as Gary wants to. White House fans need to get over themselves they have no chance and I for one have no Idea why they would even think their lowly program that has done nothing in over a decade even belongs on the same field as Alcoa. White house you are not the elite program you think you are and when the match up with Alcoa comes you will be enlightend as to what a real football team is.
  8. I'm sure he was dead on about Cade Thompson's prolific career at USC, FBE thinks Alcoa players can't play FBS ball because they play in 2A he does not understand how great they are athletically.
  9. I was talking to a friend the other day and he said he ran into Bart, and Bart told him he would be attending the University West Georgia now i'm not sure if that meant Bart was trying to get into school or he was actually going to be at UWG next season.
  10. I am really not taken aback by this prediction all you have to do is look at the quaterback situation and that will tell you why the expectations are so low for william Blount. Zack Witt was in competition for the starting job but has now alledgedly broken his ankle, but more importantly he was Alcoa's fourth string Quaterback when transferred and was competing to start. If you are playing the fourth string quaterback from a lowly 2A school how can you expect to excell in the mightiest region in 5A. Now 6th may be a little low but they will not finish any higher than 3rd.
  11. The two color numbers may not have been an option financially those uniforms cost between $250-$300 dollars a piece and with Nike providing them at no charge they may have limited Alcoa to a one color number. As for the gray pants I agree 100% they would look significantly better. The article did not say this but I believe Maryville was the first "Nike Elite" school in Tennessee which is another tier of Nike sponsorship that is very exclusive with only about twenty teams across the nation. I do not believe MBA is part of that exclusive group. DaCatfish they are not like UK but are modeled after the University of Missouri.
  12. Alcoa's starters did not play one down in the second half of that contest mainly because Rankin knew there was no way Gatlinburg Pitman could win regardles of how close they made the score look, and margin of victory means nothing to Mr. Rankin, as long as the Tornadoes win, he was just planning on cruising to the next round so Pitman fans stop bringing that up you were not close to being as good as CAK, GP, DCA, or even Loudon you were fortunate Alcoa stopped playing and that is all, you were not and are not one of the elite teams in 2A.
  13. It appears their is problem with this poll after 20 voters Alcoa only had 190 points out of a possible 200 if all 20 voters gave Alcoa their first place vote. So my question is to those of you who may not have voted Alcoa as the best team in the state, what is going through your obviously poor performing cranium? Alcoa is without a doubt 20 points better than the next best team in 2A.
  14. But that means nothing to Heritage they have no concept of speed or strength. Everyone who is fast at Heritage must run a 4.3 but if that were the case Heritage would have a few track titles which I don't believe they do. James Rainer Is the fastest person to play football in the county and at best he was on the verge of the 4.3 range in high school. And Stars Heritage is so far ahead of the rest of the county in stregth and conditioning they invent cutting edge lifts such as the "power cling" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  15. I do believe Cermack is a sophmore this season and players can not be offered until september 1st of their junior year, so no cermack has not been offered by Georgia or Vanderbilt. He probably would not feel comfortable at UGA any way, they win games and that would be very hard for him to adjust to. Garner will lead the county in rushing this season based soley on quantity of carries, last year I believe he had double the carries of Hodge at Alcoa. Toney will lead the county in YPC and TD's but I do see Darrel Waren being a solid red zone threat for the Tornadoes. Cermack will touch the ball on 75% of heritages snaps due to this he will be the third leading rusher. Maryville's backs due to split carries will be 4th and 5th in rushing but Im not sure who will lead the Rebels.
  16. Who is this Rankings guy did Alcoa hire a new coordinator. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  17. Of course he will get varsity time everyone on the roster will log significant minutes against every team in the region, due to the opponent always having a significant half time defficit. But I don't see him passing Isom, Walker, or even Jett on the depth chart. That is in no way a castigation of his abilty, this year simply will not be the year Alcoa will become familiar with his skill set. Keep this in mind though Kyrus Lanxter was the fifth reciever on the depth chart his freshman year and his career in no way suffered from it.
  18. Vesser is an outstanding tallent with good hands and is not afraid to go for a ball in traffic, but he did have a few drops last year at AMS and toward the end of the year his receptions did dwindle. He has prodigious potential but is probably not ready to make an impact immeadiately.
  19. Another possible solution to the predicament at DT would be to move Tyler Robinson inside and Darrel Warren, another fantastic sophmore could play DE.
  20. 2006 and 2007 were very senior laden teams, this years seniors are quality role players but no DI talent a few that can play FCS or low major DI maybe, but the junior sophmore and freshman classes have athletes capable of playing at a high level in major college football.
  21. First I would venture to guess that Brother will not start at reciever, I would guess Steven Isom will start or maybe antother big sophmore target in jared jett. The two open DB slots you had I would guess maybe Jaron Toney at corner and Austin Tallent at saftey. unless Nix decides to run that asinine 4-4/4-2-5 that he ran last year then who knows who plays what position. Connor could be moved down to the vacant DT spot and you may see Taharin Tyson at the MLB spot. V Hambrick , an incoming freshman, could also contend for a spot in the secondary if Rankin does not feel comfortable starting his two best quaterbacks , James and Tallent, on defense.
  22. APB of course I undrestand what you are saying, but I would venture to guess that a football player that an Ivy league institution was really interested in might have a better chance of qualifying for financial aid than a the average incoming freshman. And both of theese schools had very solid seasons last year the crimson finished undefeated in Ivy league play and Wofford finished ranked 10th in the FCS coaches poll with a 9-4 record.
  23. John and Jimmy that is one of the most doltish things I have seen posted on this site, now yes I forsee both teams loosing to Maryville but can you seriously think that a team like Halls can provide a more competitive contest than Alcoa. I know you have severely biased view of football ability based entirely on your elitist view that a team with a more substantial number in front of the A of their classification is automatcaly superior to a team in classification denoted by a less significant number but their is no way any rational person could honestly believe that your inference, that Halls is better than Alcoa, is correct. now for an early prediction Alcoa 14 George Quarles 20 no one can beat George Quarles as much as it pains me to say it. and Halls looses by at least twenty.
  24. It is up in the air only because UT has to wait for the NCAA to officially grant him the appeal which they will probably get around to in august but it is almost guaranteed that he will be wearing the orange and white next season.
