  1. I haven't seen possumtowner on here in a couple years now. By the way no one ever admitted to being possum. I tried to figure that one out for years, and I've accused a few people of being possum. I've heard some pretty good arguments about who it might be, but then you have to suspect the person making that argument... There's more deception around the identity of Possum that there is in a white house speech, and that's saying somthing. I know the cracker Barrel menus changed to regular english a few years back so I suspect that Possum might have left Lebanon. Good luck to FC tonight and hope both teams play well and have no injuries. Little too hot for a sweatervest tonight unless you wear it without the polo underneath. And that just don't look right.
  2. Not to keep the thread lingering, but I feel the same way about alot of 1a/2a football games. Our region has basically 3 decent teams and sometimes Watertown. Other than that it's very hard to make it to halftime in most of these games. Not picking on these teams, they are doing the best they can. But that could just be my uh what was it? snobbish, elitest, holier than thou-est, sweatervest-est, attitude talking!
  3. Wasn't there but that was the question that I had... Did the comback start when Swindoll came in? Or were we already coming back. Personally I thought he should have been the QB anyway. Nothing against the Senior, but Swindoll is a tough hardnosed football player. Winner mentality. And NO! He doesn't need to concentrate on baseball.
  4. I'm agreeing with a Trousdale guy... yikes! Speaking of great Americans, thank you to all you Vets today and everyday, or if you have kids or family serving, please pass along a thank you for their service. And go Sweatervest Nation!
  5. Course Hitler had a mustache, but Patton didn't. Barack doesn't which makes sense by your logic, But neither did The President Reagan. Not trying to blow holes in your theory, but the Center isn't holding. Sorry, carry on with footbnall. you side tracked me there.
  6. Just don't go with the fake turtleneck underneath it. We see right through that faster than a clip on bowtie.
  7. Hey I hear ya and I know it's hard for you TC guys to have to say nice things about Friendship! I can't answer for the current state of FC posters. The number has been dwindling for years. But usually around this time you have Possumtowner talking about his truck anyway. No idea. The new guys need to step up. I guarantee you they are on here reading. I do hope hope for a November FC/TC matchup. Late Fall ain't the same without being ticked off at TC or South Pitt fans.
  8. I have no dog in the hunt this year but I will say this. FC came in a very young and inexperienced team this year. From the time of the Gordonsville game (when they just weren't very good) to the Trousdale game the FCS defense improved immensely. This young team has found itself. Coach Lowe has his defense tackling again. And the offense has found it's way. Now Trousdale is nowhere near where they were last year with Ford and Seay, but still they beat Gordonsville and FC didn't. And everybody else in the Region has been cream puffs for a couple years now, so you get no good games from them. No idea what Signal Mountain has. But as long as they aren't a smashmouth team or a very fast team I think FC can defend them. Heck at this point even if they are a smashmouth team FC may be able to defend them. Again, no idea about SM, so I have no prediction. But I'm proud of the way this young FC team has grown over this year. They should be good with this group for a couple more years.
  9. don't know about Reeves, I didn't make it up to Macon County. I do think this year's game will be more like 3 years ago when you guys had the experienced team with Smith at QB, and FC was playing alot of younger players. If I remember right that was a hard hitting game with G-ville winning a close one. Not predicting an outcome, I'm just saying it's similar teams. FC has a bunch of big guys and a bunch of lean athletic guys... They are just young. Another year in the weight room will help them alot. But this year's team can gel and make some noise in the region. Defense needs to step up the takling. Friday night could be a really good one. It won't be the mis-match of last year by a long shot. At least I hope not!
  10. This will be an interesting game for FCS. We lost 12 Seniors from last year. Most of which were crucial players all year long. This year's team will need to find their identity and their leaders quickly. The offensive and Defensive lines should be good with plenty of big bodies in there. Good RB to run the ball. Plenty of young athletic guys. It'll be interesting to see how they play tonight. Last year's game we pretty much overwhelmed y'all no matter how you look at it. I really don't know what to expect tonight.
  11. Well good point. I'm not sure he did enough last year to be preseason, but he'll sure have an opportunity this coming year with all those Seniors gone. I haven't seen him in a while... Hope he put on about 20 pounds!
  12. Not sure who that would be Croz... they going to be young.
  13. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of how this came to be....who voted for who, criteria, etc. I'm heavily biased, of course, but I haven't heard anyone in the past two years that disagreed with your post. Congratulations to Lee..he's a hoss as well. Imagine him in TCs backfield...... Well it's a team game anyway right? Individual honors are more for the kid's Momma. It's all subjective. They ought to give honors to the best offensive line or best defense. Those would be some meaningful awards.
  14. Seay was the best player in 2A hands down this year. Both sides of the ball. MVP in the Championship, and Co MVP in the Region. To beat TC you had to stop Seay, and nobody did. Without him they are still a good team, but not a 1 loss in 2 seasons team. So this list must be a popularity contest, or character, or maybe grades, but not solely a football contest.
  15. Great job Union City! I doubt if anybody in the state gave you guys a chance in this. Got to love it!
  16. I thought I was done until I read this. You are going to call out numbers on our team? Seriously? Your boys got in plently of cheap shots. Want to talk about trying to twist ankles and arms, and stomping on hands? How about clearing out the water table after running a player 5 yards out of bounds? The thing is your team is good enough to win with class. You might want to avoid any more character dissusions.
  17. Congradulations TC. You were the better team on the field last night. I don't know what these other teams have but I would be surprised if any of them are good enough to beat you. It might have gotten interesting if the clock operator hadn't made that call, but that's the way that goes. I'm very surprised at the actions of your fans last night. Not just after the game, but all during the game the little Spirit team standing on the visitor side hurling insults and profanities at our players. Basically just looking for a fight. And they were all grown men. Really? With all your winning tradition and championships you can't act any better than that? I realize that 85 percent of the TC fans are good decent people that are probably embarrassed by those actions last night and God bless yall. I would hate to be associated with that type of thing. I would say to those young men it's time to grow up. Take a look in the mirror. Is that really who you are? Screaming insults at High School kids? That's the last game for my kid. He goes on to college and career. He won't ever win a gold ball, but at least he does have the character to never act the way I saw those young men and the group of older people who should REALLY know better, acted at the end of the game. And sitting here this morning after witnessing all that, I'm fine with that trade off. Good luck to you TC. Try to act like you've been there before. And again to the 85 percent... I'm really sorry I felt like I had to say all this.
  18. Nice post there Creekbank. One thing for sure, there's going to be fireworks on the creekbank tonight!
  19. Well ain't that just an open handed slap to the face! What did I do to you BigDaddy to deserve that cussing? No, no, no.....not Cothron, but he's a close friend of mine. Alright C11. I was wondering how I was supposed to contact you, since you don't do the txting thing. Good luck to the Champs tonight, I'll be in touch. This game is going to be an instant classic. Like I've said the better defensive team will prevail. Can we stop Maason and the big play? Can you prevent those long, punishing drives? No matter what's been said on these boards, I doubt they'll have any influence on the outcome of the game. It's been fun chatting with some of you all this week! I think there's a mutal respect between these two programs, and whoever comes out on top will be rooted on the rest of the way by the other. Get there early and come by the baseball field to chat with some of us (that is if you punks and pansies aren't there first! ). Hope it's an injury free game for all. Be careful on your way over and back. And the best of luck to you.....you're going to need it!!! 7 I hope you get a chance to meet BigDaddy tonight. I think you'll agree that the pansy label just doesn't apply. Maybe Possum will come by and introduce himself too. If he does take a picture for us. Can our defense slow down your offense, and can our offense stay on the field and put some points? There's your ballgame. Bet there's not a lot of studying going on today in school... Boy if FCS pulls off the miracle there's gonna be some sad folks from Hampton to South Pitt and every other 1a,2a school in the state. Never heard so much, "We love you Trousdale County" in my life. That's fine, we still playing to win!
  20. good luck tonight there G'ville. Gonna be tough for yall I know. With the current alignment I'm thinking that G'ville/South Pitt is going to be the classic 1a rivalry for years to come.
  21. Seay is a horse and there is no doubt about it. And we don't need some nut from WHH to explain that to us. Seen him a few times now. You can't just hit him hard and expect him to go down, you got to stick to him like fly paper and hang on til help arrives. I personally think he should have been in the running for Mr 2a football. (or whatever it's called) Our guys know they are the underdog here no matter how much smack talk some of these knuckle heads spout. They know how much effort it will take to beat this rediculously good TC team. They look forward to the challenge. It'll probably take a perfect game to beat em, so that's what we are shooting for. Good time Charlie, good luck against those Pirates down there. You know as well as I do that y'all are up against it too. It would be fun to hear y'all beat those guys. PossumTowner let me know if you need a ride to the game Cuz..... You won't have to crank that ole truck or yours. What was your address again? I'll pick you up!
  22. What you are saying is the only way we can win Croz. Better offensive line play makes that possible. Plus the offense has to help the defense by getting the time of possession more in our favor.
  23. No worrys... this is the only game we are thinking about!
