  1. When you keep putting your head down and driving to the basket and there's someone set in your way.........pull up, pull up, pull up and gave is over.....
  2. Can't measure heart and that is what I saw - unbelievable amount of heart. Congrats to TCA for a great win....unbelievable atmosphere at game. BTW is for real - if that was the worst game they have played all year, they are going to be scary good if they play a good one. Gotta love high school basketball!
  3. Ok, so I have read 2 threads in girls basketball trying to kill time and this is on both of them. Afraid to open anymore. The Gatlin Brothers and this song were famous, when in the late 70's ??
  4. Gotta admit, Sheriff - you dish it out, but you take it pretty well too ! (Next time put your "p" in hopefully - makes a BIG difference !)
  5. Going out on a limb here----probably you.
  6. Congrats to TCA on big win and good luck Tuesday night. Three take aways from game last night (glad I made myself go) 1) Memphis Northside had 5 (yes, that is correct - 5) fans there. Two adult women, two teenagers, and 1 elementary school age....they deserved better. 2) TCA had a great crowd and if the kids play that hard every game, they deserved it. 3) Class move by the Northside coach - when Northside kid pushed TCA kid in back and called for intentional foul, it was his fifth foul and headed to bench. Coach met him on court, turned him around, and made him go shake TCA player hand. When he headed off court, coach turned him around and made him go shake TCA coach's hand. Great call coach, you earned my respect. (TCA fans responded with a nice ovation for the young man - another classy move)
  7. Google shows 56 miles....Interesting note - only 4 miles from Bolivar to Middleton....if Middleton beats BTW in Region and goes on to win the title, will sheriff count that in his numbers???
  8. Think Huntingdon beats Bradford - agree with your other 3 picks.
  9. Region 8A tournament at Trinity in Jackson. If seeds hold out, BTW will play Middleton in semi's. Funny, but never even thought about BTW until dude started posting - now I will definitely be at the game pulling for anyone playing them......AND I AM RACIST----against idiots.
  10. He will probably end up being a ballet dancer so you might want to be saving up for those theater tickets - much more expensive that admission to games. And those tights are pretty expensive too.
  11. USJ by 1 --- I hear that USJ starting center was ejected from game....how does that affect sub state for them?
  12. Obviously not based on the semi-final game.
  13. Congratulations to the USJ Bruins! Have to say kuddos to the two kids that called the game on Knoxville Webb website. For high school kids, they did an outstanding job. Bright futures for those two.
  14. So, how's that feeling working out for you at half???? USJ-20 Webb-13 Honestly still think Webb has best shot at winning game, but listening to Webb announcers on line is cracking me up---actually doing a pretty good job, but think they are a little more than surprised.
  15. Before USJ can even PLAY Webb, they are going to have to get by ECS - pretty sure they remember ECS, the one team that beat them this year. Should be a great game and believe USJ is better now than then, but basically a 3 week lay off (no disrespect to TRA, but starters only playing a quarter hardly counts) may be a factor.
  16. So if I am reading the TSSAA brackets correctly. Top half of the brackets will contain: Knoxville Webb, SBEC, ECS, and USJ-----geez, talk about loaded ! Looks like by losing Friday, St. George may have won the seeding war. Bottom half will have St. George, Harding, DCA, Davidson Academy, and JCS. First game for USJ, if above statement of ECS getting 3rd seed, will be at home vs ECS, the only team to beat them this year.....always say if you want to beat the best, you got to beat the best - just don't expect to have to do it that quickly in playoffs.
  17. I don't know if "stunned" is the word to use. When USJ escaped with a win at SBEC, we were talking about how dangerous they would be come playoff time - I thought ECS would win, but SBEC has some talent. The score of our game was not indicitive of how close and hard fought the game actually was. Having not seen Harding play and assuming they are in the mix, I would say that USJ, ECS, SBEC, and Harding could all make some waves in the tournament - gotta love high school football !!
  18. Guess someone should have told you about the other 10 players on the field in addition to Mayhall, who had an unbelievable game again---but so did a lot of other players. C. Rushing had a couple unbelievable catches, and glad to A. Orr back after injury with a few key catches. O Line and D Line came out fired up with all the talk of how big St. George was. Great game.
  19. You really should check your facts (there are few) before you start talking about the "academic scholarships". These scholarships are need based determined by an outside firm. The schools cannot offer these scholarships based on your sons ability----if he's REALLY good, I might could slide you a few thousand under the table though !
  20. Have not seen them play, but based on first two outings, may be down a little this year.
  21. Word today is torn ACL, torn MCL, torn meniscus - rehab/surgery - out for season. Big loss for USJ - tough as nails AND a top notch, class kid.
  22. USJ looked really strong tonight in a 35-2 win. Garner at quarterback will be good before year is over - made some mistakes you would expect for a first game starter, but seemed to gain confidence as the game went on. Mayhall/Spencer backfield are a force and gonna cause some headaches for opposing teams this year. Southside was MUCH bigger than USJ and thought this would be a closer game. Southside hurt themselves with turnovers first few series and never seemed to recover.
