  1. Oak Ridge defeated Knoxville Bearden 93 - 27 to run their record to 29-1 on the season. Of course, the win will be remembered as win #700 all-time for Coach Jill Prudden. Coach Prudden, in her 24th season as the head of the Lady Wildcats, has a record of 700-116. Congratulations to Coach Prudden and all the people who have played a role in building the tradition of Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat basketball. Job well done by all! Now, go for the fourth gold ball ~~In three weeks I'll be moving from Red Bank to Hixson so I'll once again be a Wildcat...Hixson Wildcat that is but still deep down my heart will be an OR Wildcat
  2. Jacksboro 17-2 after defeating Oak Ridge Jefferson to capture the Area 2 Tournament championship will finally get back on the court tomorrow, Feb. 18 at 6:15 in the East Tennessee Sectional Tournament being contested in Pigeon Forge. To read an article on the Jacksboro vs Jefferson game go to http://www.lafollettepress.com/ and click on the sports link.
  3. In my opinion, Shelbyville is the favorite to win it all on MTSU's home floor. I hope I am wrong.
  4. Well, Oldcat, I don't know how he is currently doing since I live in Chattanooga but he is receiving national recognition based on this article in Wednesday's Oak Ridger... I wish Corey all the best and hope he reaches his full potential as a player and a person. < by Mike Blackerby Oak Ridger staff Oak Ridge High School halfback Corey Booker has been named to the Student Sports National High School Football Junior All-America Team. Booker, who is 5-8 and 180 pounds, was the only Tennessee player named to the Junior All-America Team, which includes 40 offensive players, 20 defensive players and 10 multi-purpose or specialty players. Booker was one of 13 running backs selected to the Junior team. Student Sports Inc., produces a national prep magazine and has a Web site, studentsports.com. The All-America teams were selected by Student Sports Inc. editors with input from recruitors. Booker, a three-year starter for the Wildcats, has rushed for more than 3,000 yards in his career and scored 49 touchdowns. He is within reach of almost every career rushing and scoring record at Oak Ridge High School. Tennessee had two players selected to the Student Sports Sophomore All-America team -- wideout Lamon Williams of Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett and wideout Patrick Turner of Goodpasture. Tennessee was represented on the Senior team by Jackson Central-Merry linebacker Daniel Brooks, Chattanooga Notre Dame wideout Adarius Bowman and Brentwood Academy kicker Kody Bliss. Brooks has committed to the University of Tennessee.>>
  5. Thank you very much for your message on the OR vs CCHS game played last night at Campbell County. I always enjoy reading messages about the Lady Wildcats amd their games. A WOO HOO to Ashley Henegar on her fine career as a Lady Cougar! Sounds like Angela is being rock solid in the clutch for OR. Last season at Campbell County, Karmen Smith had to hit two free throws with 2 seconds left in regulation to send the game into OT, where OR was able to pull out the 57 - 50 win. My guess is Campbell County gives OR more fits than any other District 3-AAA team. I gave you a good mark for your post because I was impressed with how balanced and informative it was. ~~Take care and go Oak Ridge and not Red Bank anymore cuz I'm moving to Hixson in March so go Hixson Wildcats Steve [Edited by WillieTheWildcat on 2-7-03 10:04A]
  6. Good luck to Oak Ridge. The wife says I can go watch ya in the Boro if ya make it ~~Take care and go Red Bank and Oak Ridge Steve
  7. Dear 85warrior, Oak Ridge and Clinton are next door neighbors in Anderson County. My guess is only four to eight miles separate the two. Many people from Clinton work in Oak Ridge and that makes for some fun on the job conversation. All in all, Oak Ridge and Clinton fans enjoy a heated but respectful rivalry. Of course, there are some fans that cross the line but they should be ignored. Dear, nick32, Clinton and Oak Ridge are both in District 3-AAA. ...FYI, Coach Prudden is a good coach and person so please, ignore the negative remarks about her. Also, DCCATVOICE knows what he is talking about. ~~Take care and go Red Bank and Oak Ridge Steve
  8. Caramel, I gave you one "good mark" for your message because you expressed several good ideas in your message. I am an Oak Ridge/Red Bank fan and certainly do not agree with everything you said about OR in your message but I admire how thoughtful your post ways. My best wishes to the team or teams you root for. ~~Go Oak Ridge and Red Bank (However,I might be moving to Hixson soon) Steve

  10. We played this trivia game at my school's staff Christmas dinner. I thought others might want to print it out and play it with their families tonight on Christmas Eve. Peace and Love from my family in Red Bank to yours. Below are excerpts from 15 carols, write down the title to each song (answers in next message). One point for correct answer, but lose a point for wrong or skipped answer. Suggested time limit: ten minutes. 1. "All is calm, all is Bright..." ______________________ 2. "The stars in the sky looked down..." ___________________ 3. "Twelve Drummers drumming..." ________________________ 4. It's Christmas time in the city..." ________________________ 5. 11. Here is the website for the Deep South Classic: www.deepsouthclassic.com I haven't had any luck in finding the website for the Sake 'N Bake tournament. The New Orleans paper the The Times-Picayune does have a message board for girls basketball located in their online sports section and some discussion on the tournament can be find on it. http://www.nola.com/ This Athens' (GA) might be a good place to look for scores of the Sweet South tournament hosted by Morgan County. http://www.onlineathens.com/news/
  12. According to the Knoxville News-Sentinel, the game is at 6 PM EST tonight (Sunday). I wish LA Coach Smith the best but I'll be pulling for Farragut. From the K N-S < Farragut hit 12 of 15 free throws in the final eight minutes to get the victory. Alex Munday had 18 points, Summer Dalton 12 and Jessica Lange 10 for the Lady Admirals (7-3). Cookeville slipped to 8-3 despite 21 points from Ashley Taylor. Farragut plays Livingston Academy at 6 tonight for the title. Lesley Smith, head coach at Livingston Academy, formerly coached the Lady Admirals. Farragut's current head coach, Mike Driver, was Smith's assistant. Livingston Academy advanced with a 57-56 upset victory against Coffee County. Katrina Beechboard had 18 points and Megan Thompson 11. Auburn signee Amber Benjamin had 20 for Coffee County. In other Rick Lange games: Oliver Springs defeated Grundy County 63-38 led by Laura Hall's 16 points; and Cannon County defeated Sullivan East 56-30. >>
  13. I, too, want to congratulate Jason on his deserved recognition. ~~Merry Christmas to all the Oak Ridge fans from Red Bank, TN
  14. I did a little Internet research on the success Tennessee girls basketball has had here is some of what I discovered: ...Tennessee teams have won 23 AAU National Championships. That puts them second on the list behind Louisiana's 24. A distant third is Ohio with 12. A total of twelve different Tennessee AAU programs have won championships. ...Over the last twenty years, Tennessee high school teams have been nationally ranked by USA Today 35 times with Shelbyville leading the way with 9 appearances. The 35 appearances places Tennessee second on the all-time list behind California's 42. Finally, in my opinion, people who follow girls basketball nationally know that when they observe a team from Tennessee they will see a well coached, fundamentally sound team with developed skills and basketball smarts. To learn more about Tennessee girls basketball, I recommend these two web sites (of course, CoachT.com would be at the head of the list). http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/baske...top25/flash.htm http://www.eteamz.com/TNstars/ ~~Take care, gotta go a fat guy in red is stuck in the chimney Steve
  15. Anspa, You might be surprised to know that Tennessee girls basketball has been recognize as being among the best for years and years. Yes, the teams OR played were good or they would not have been invited to the tournament. However, nothing Class AAA Oak Ridge did the last several days should come as a surprise to people. OR, Shelbyville, Lawrence County, and White County have all been nationally ranked. Even Class AA teams like Jackson County, Livingston Academy, Meigs County, South Greene and Upperman have been considered Top 25 caliber. Also, Harding Academy and Briarcrest have been nationally ranked. I think Coffee County has been ranked in the past. AAU teams from Memphis, Shelbyville Sports Shop and the Tennessee Stars have won multiple National Championships. There maybe others that I do not know about. Tennessee girls basketball can hang with just about anybody.
  16. Why is a Maryville fan starting a thread titled, "Maryville Football Down the Tubes?" So Silly.
  17. The USA Today #15 Lady Wildcats will play USA Today #12 Murry Bergtraum (NYC) Saturday at 6:15 EST. MBHS defeated USA Today #25 Campbell County (WY) 76-67.
  18. Campbell County, Gillette, WY is #25 USA Today and Murry Bergtraum, NYC is #12 USA Today. I visited each high schools' website and there is nothing to share from either site. "CCHS is big - MBHS is quick"...according to OR Coach Prudden. Brittany Frazier once again played big and her college opportunities are probably expanding. Holbrook's range today also probably opened new college doors to her. ~~Merry Christmas from Red Bank, Tennessee Steve
  19. Oak Ridge defeated St. Mary's (Stockton, CA) 63 - 62. The Lady Wildcats will now face the winner of the Murry Bergtraum (New York City) vs Campbell County, WY on Saturday at 6:15 EST.
  20. For those of you who want just a little more information on the Nike TOC you can visit the Arizona Republic's online site. Today, they have an article on Christ The King and another article on the tournament as a whole. http://www.azcentral.com/ I wonder is OR's Alison Freels will be healthy enough to play today because the Lady Wildcats will need all their players. This St. Mary's team must be very good to have won by so many points yesterday.
  21. Oak Ridge will play St. Mary's of Stockton, CA on Friday afternoon at 2:45 EST. St. Mary's, USA Today #10 in the West defeated the USA Today's # 24 Oakland Catholic (PA) 73- 51. St. Mary's was ranked by USA Today #19 in the preseason. I did find online the website for St. Mary's but all it had for basketball was a schedule with no results. The girls basketball website for Georgetown HS (TX), Oak Ridge's foe today is one of the best I have ever come across. The only website that would be better is the one CoachT use to do for the Lady Cats of Lawrence County. It is no surprise that CoachT.com is as good as it is today...CoachT has worked his bottom off for many years to get it where it is today. Good job, CoachT.
  22. I'm no expert but from what I've seen and heard Coach Dodgen should be respected for what he has done in the past and is doing in the present. I wish him the best. ~~Merry Christmas from Red Bank, Tennessee Steve
  23. OneManGang, YOU ARE RIGHT, the AAU State Tournament I was thinking of was the 13-under tournament when Stef was a Tennessee Raider. She hit 7 three-balls against SSS in pool play. Fallon Lee of McMinn Central scored the big bucket in crunch time that allowed the Raiders to defeat Shelbyville in the championship game. Of course, I could be wrong Just imagine if all of the top players at that 13-under State Tournament played on a single AAU team in the Spring/Summer 2003? Thanks Gang for correcting my information.
  24. Brittany has now scored over 1700 points in her Oak Ridge career. KeKe, for those who do not know, is a freshmen. Tomorrow Oak Ridge (USA Today #15) plays at 2:45 EST against the winner of Oakland Catholic, PA (USA Today #24) vs St.Mary's, CA (USA Today #10 in the West). ~~Merry Christmas from Red Bank, Tennessee Steve
  25. Showtime7, Your original message was a very kind gesture from a Shelbyville fan to an Oak Ridge player. I do not have enough "good marks" to give you one but I wish I did. Just curious, were you at the 12-under AAU State Tournament game when Ms Holbrook, playing for the Ridge Runners, hit seven 3-balls against Shelbyville Sport Shop? That Ridge Runner team to this day is my favorite team of all time. Strange but true...besides being two of the best 3-ball shooters at Oak Ridge, both Sharp and Holbrook have played AAU ball for Shelbyville. Another thing the two players have in common is that they both come from good families. ~~Merry Christmas from Red Bank, Tennessee Steve
