  1. Since it was a immediate response, I would think that would be a positive for both schools receiving some type of reduction. Just heard that Briarcrest and Houston's penalties stay the same. Two year post-season ban is pretty severe. Hard to believe the appeal committee would take the extra time and not make any changes to the sanctions. Too bad for the juniors on both teams. Hope everyone learns a lesson from all of this. Sounds like fighting won't be tolerated
  2. A little home cookin on the refs didnt help much either. Just a little curious, you win by 4 touchdowns on the road and there was "a little home cookin on the refs didnt help much either" Please expound on that situation, cause it sure makes you sound like you don't know how to win with any class. Is it always the officials fault when you do not score on every play?
  3. I always thought it would be great to hear some Molly Hatchett "Flirting with Disaster" whenever a coach came out to argue with an umpire.
  4. Just got off the phone with Leonard. He said the Conquistadors would march through Shelby County and go to war with the Trojans. He said the score would be lopsided again this week for the Trojans. Leonard said.........Leonards Losers: Millington My question that Leonard did not answer was when will the Trojans put a number up on the scoreboard. I am hoping they do it this week but I am afraid it is going to end up being the third game.
  5. I believe the running clock started about halfway through the third quarter. Good thing the quarterback did not play much in the second half. I am not a former player just seen MUS too many times in the past, hope the Trojans make Shelby County look a little better against Olive Branch and all their recruits next week.
  6. I see it like Greg Roberts would say, Millington fans have the wrong team favored............running clock for most of the second half. MUS too disciplined and too much talent on the offensive side of the ball. The Owls in a runaway.
  7. You guys are forgetting about the Kingsbury fullback and middle linebacker. I think his number is 3, but not positive, it was week zero last time I saw him, but he is a division I prospect as well. He is about 6'3" and goes around 230, and runs just as good as any linebacker around. I saw him in a scrimmage against Briarcrest and caught him again in their week zero game. He is an excellent blocker too. I have not seen Henry County yet this year but know they generally have a great team. I do not know how the Kingsbury offensive and defensive lines will hold up. If they cant hold up then it could be along night for the Falcons, but if they play a little it should be an interesting game. Hunter is one of those special backs that can take it to the house on any carry. I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to catch Henry County's semi-final game against Hillsboro. One of the best atmosphere's for football I have ever witnessed. Loud and packed house for that game. My only suggestion to the Henry County folks is get Hank Jr. to make you a recording to play over the pa system just before kick-off, you know, "are you ready for some football!!!" You guys get that done and that would be as special as any home team could ever have. Surely Hank would do something like that for his hometown team.
  8. If Cordova hits as hard as Craigmont, will Millington be able to hold on to the ball this time? Also need to factor in the Cordova offensive guru Coach Dee Alsbrook (sp) calling the plays. I can see the game being low scoring and I can see it being a high scoring game. Either way both teams should be able to advance to at least the second round before getting any sort of a test from Region 8.
  9. Not anywhere near the be-all end all, actually I am the love child of Al Woods and Tim Dulin. JV baseball doesn't count, the only people that care about JV are the players and parents, St. Claire is a good coach but no where near Clark, only real close one will be in a few years after Johnny Beard has been at MUS a few years. Beard has a great baseball mind and will do real well at MUS. I think they only have two seniors this year.
  10. Yeah many players, three from Bartlett, which I mentioned that two of them, Hatfield and Wilson are not having as a good a year as they had as last year, as for CBHS, Martinez is the only player from there to sign with Memphis. Who else has signed DI in Memphis area? Wright at MUS with Ole Miss, Leconte at Briarcrest with Tennessee. Those are the only ones I know of and haven't seen anyone this year that everyone is missing out on. I am probably leaving someone out. Personally I think Martinez is the most complete player to come out of Memphis in the last several years, if he had more power he could be considered a sure fire five tool player. Who are the other DI players off those teams? I know the catcher for the brothers has signed with Air Force, anyone else. What Collierville players have signed with DI schools? What are Wilson and Hatfield's averages, hr totals, and strikeouts compared to last year? I have seen CBHS four times this year and Bartlett twice. I think Bartlett is the better team and if they did play and the game was close, Clark would win, no one is better than him. Collierville and Bartlett will make it to Murfreesboro because there are two from here that go every year, I just don't see them winning it all this year. Like I said before, hope they do.
  11. Its Hatfield, I know his grandfather, and his name is Gourgeot, the Gorgeous One. I keep calling Heath lil Gorgeout. Sorry.
  12. Martinez made what three appearances as a freshman? Most everyone but the CBHS people were surprised they won it all last year, most likely the weakest of their ten state championship teams, but they did win it all. They are definitely missing Forsythe this year. They are missing a truly dominate pitcher and I don't think anyone is really tearing it up at the plate this year. More proof at what good coaching and discipline can do for a team. They expect to win every game they play and they usually do. Bartlett is not playing anywhere near like they were last year. I don't think WIlson or Gorgeout are having near the year they had last year. Collierville is a surprise but I don't think they have a dominant pitcher like they have in the past. You win twenty-four plus games in a row though and you are playing good ball. Houston is way down this year and Germantown is not near the team they were when Clark was there. Baseball is down in the metro Memphis area. Go back and look at the roster of Dulin's summer team and the Memphis Tigers summer team, half the rosters were from outside the Memphis area. Who is the dominant pitcher in the Memphis area this year? Hard to find one, Leconte at Briarcest? Gourgeot at Bartlett? Wright at MUS? Have not seen the scouts out this year like in years past when Cain at Houston, both Paxtons at Houston, both Pomeranzs Houston and Collierville, Park at MUS, Holliman, Maholm, and Novarese at Germantown under Clark. It is a down year compared to years past, but the great coaches: Clark, Kelso, and Hopkins will always win and be competitive, just don't see it happening in Murfreesboro this year, hope it does but don't see it.
  13. More of the same, how bad was the umpiring this time? Must of had something to do with it. Martinez hasn't been a pitcher since his middle school days at Collierville. Can't wait to see Gant mouth off to an SEC umpire and see what happens. Total bush league. No excuse for letting your team down because you can't controll your emotions. That is the weakest CBHS team in the last five or six years at least but still good enough to go to USJ and win with a centerfielder on the mound. Did little Martinez play shortstop or is he still in the dugout serving his suspension for acting up in class? Maybe that is the secret to the Brothers.....a little discipline. Its a down year in Memphis baseball, don't see any of the Memphis area teams taking it all except for maybe Bartlett if they get it all together and quit coasting from last years run.
