  1. I agree 100% that high school rules state the the base runner must avoid contact and obviously from the video he did not do this. He broke the rules, should be called out, and ejected from the game. The collision did not appear malicious however. It wasn't anything like what I had imagined from all the hearsay I have heard. The catcher should have popped up, grabbed the ball, and continued on with the game.

  3. They certainly brought the hammer down on them. I feel like they should be punished and I'm not second guessing the TSSAA's decision but I do feel bad for the Sophomores and even some Freshman probably that will not have a shot at a state title next year for a fight they were not even in the dugout for.
  4. Can't say anything about BA because I just don't know. I do know that CBHS, MUS, and Briarcrest are all capable of beating one another so it is definitely anyone's tournament to win. I think CBHS split with MUS on the year 2 games a piece. CBHS won 2 of 3 that counted towards standings and MUS took one in the championship game of the USA classic that didn't count toward leauge play. At least 2 of those four games were 1 or 2 run games won in the last inning. Each team won a game or two like that against the other. CBHS took the regular season series from Briacrest but then Briarcrest took the post sean series. I'm not sure what transpired between MUS and Briarcrest. Whoever plays their best baseball when it counts will win because it is a pretty evenly matched field.
  5. Sounds like a heckuva game. Wish I could be watching it but thanks for the updates.
  6. Their history in championships in the 2000's....01 - State Champs, 02 - State Champs, 03 - State Champs, 04 - Quarter Finals, 05 - Runner up, 06 - Runner up, 07 - Runner up, 08 - Runner up. They have had a rough run, but they've won a few too. That is just the past 10 years, go back farther and more have been won.
  7. I am a CBHS alum, so I am slightly biased. I'll pick and root for them against anyone. I will say that Benedict is probably flying under the radar even though they stunned CBHS and beat them twice for the #1 seed from the West. They are very talented and very well coached. Not to be taken lightly. I know nothing about McCallie or BA for this year so I can't really say how CBHS or SBA will measure up to them, just know that both the West teams are quality teams, as I am sure BA and McCallie are going to be.
  8. ECS is going down a division also. I have been told there will be no region tournament next year. Don't know exactly how it will work but that is what I have been told.
  9. The winner of BA and McCallie will play JP2 SBA will play the loser of BGA and Webb. BGA or Webb will be traveling to SBA. CBHS plays the winner of that same game. Same Scenario, BGA or Webb will be traveling. MUS plays the loser of the BA McCAllie game. Confusing enough? Straighten it out if I mixed anything up.
  10. Rained out yesterday and rescheduled for 5 o'clock tomorrow (Monday). I wouldn't count on it though because the field wasn't tarped Friday night which is why it didn't get it Saturday and there has been little to no sunshine since then and it isn't in the forecast for tomorrow. The tournament is being held at Briarcrest who in my opinion was very irresponsible for not tarping Friday night. If you want to host a region tournament, be prepared to call the entire team up there even if you have been eliminated to tarp and work the field. Who is the 3 seed (becoming the 5 for East/Middle) from the middle?
  11. The swine flu is no worse than the regular flu. It was all hype. And pretty much over with now.
  12. Well like I said, I don't know the answer, but something really should be done. Off the top of my head you will have MUS, CBHS, Briarcrest, and St. Benedict in the West and you will have MBA, Father Ryan, BGA, Baylor, BA, McCallie, Webb (I believe still large?) and that is it. I could be forgetting someone but that is 11 teams vying for a state championship. It is so watered down. Most year, this year being a possible exception, any of these teams could be thrown in with AAA and hold their own. Notice I said hold their own, not run the table. Even in the exception year a few could still compete with the AAA schools. I just think its disappointing that each championship is so diluted.
  13. I agree USJ will (or should) win DII small state convincingly every year. I don't know what exactly the answer is but there needs to be some sort of realignment in DII. There are far too many small schools compared to the big schools.
  14. http://tssaa.org/d2regions.pdf this could be just fb? I'll keep looking.
  15. I'm not 100% sure on this, but am fairly certain that ECS will be moving to DII small in baseball. I believe they already play there in football. I will see if I can find confirmation of this on TSSAA's website. So they are not making the switch from DII to DI, just classification of DII. On an unrelated note, I also believe USJ is moving to DII small in the fall 09 school year, but this is another thing I am going to have to look into. Anyone else know if this is true or not?
