  1. Baylor@ Ensworth Briarcrest@ McCallie MBA@ MUS St Benedict@ CBHS All games Saturday night Feb 27 @ 7 pm Ill take EHS,McCallie,MBA, CBHS to win and advance to Lipscomb. Thoughts/Comments??
  2. I was there and saw it. Yes it was a hard foul. It happened on a breakaway layup attempt, Bars collided with the Ensworth player and took him to the ground. It was correctly called an intentional foul with the Ensworth player shooting two foul shots and possession of the ball. Whether or not Bars should have been ejected is debatable.Hard fouls are part of the game....they happen at every level(watch Sportscenter). This was an extremely hard fought and emotional basketball game as it seems all MBA-EHS sporting events have become. It also appears that the drama of EHS closely follow each of these athletic events. Last year the MBA students were too mean..this year the players were too rough. Anyway it was a great high school game played in a great environment. Congrats to Ensworth on their victory!!
  3. Ensworth will be the favorite next year and for years to come. They will be better next year than this year. The class of 2013,freshmen now, is their best class yet. I firmly believe we have just seen the beginning of Coach Bowers and the football dynasty he is building. Anderson will step in for Darkwa and the beat goes on.
  4. Ensworth will win this football game. This will be the best coached team Oakland has faced in a long long time. I think Oakland has a top five team in the state and would probably beat Ensworth later in the year, but I think this is a really tough spot for them. EHS will be more vulnerable later in the year with injuries and the wear and tear of the season. Oakland catching them fresh and on opening night at home will be tough to overcome
  5. Some Tenn teams playing: BA,CBHS, Clarksville HS, Cookeville, Lipscomb, Dekalb Co, Franklin Co, Franklin HS,Gallatin, Hillsboro, Indy, Lavergne, MUS, MBA, OAk Ridge, Pearl Cohn, PJP2, Ravenwood, Riverdale, Stratford, TCA, Union City and Whitehaven. Teams from 5 states playing. Today and tomorrow....should be alot of fun.
  6. I think Massey signed to play baseball at Virginia. He got drafted out of Baylor and signed. I believe Spencer Wise has some options and he is evaluating what he wants to do.
  7. It is a down year for MBA baseball. A couple of upper classmen chose not to play for various reasons and that created problems. There are some special players amongst the younger guys.(fresh and soph) I would anticipate these guys to play and gain valuble experience the remainder of the season.
  8. I am not trying to pose an arguement, just stating what I consider to be the most logical choices. The four teams mentioned all return a fair nucleus of players from sucessful teams. It has nothing to do with schools attended. GOAT,you obviously have different ideas on the subject, why dont you enlighten us............
  9. I would think a repeat of the final four from last year appears likely. MUS,MBA,EHS and BA should be the class of the league. Baylor, McCallie and CBHS are all on the rise and will be more competitive.
  10. MBA should at the very least hold its own this year. The last two senior classes have taken with them many outstanding football players. This years team will be senior dominated as most MBA teams are. The most experienced positions will be at receiver and linebacker, with a couple of lineman returning on each side of the ball. If I'm not mistaken MBA returns 5 starters on defense and 3 starters on offense, so it stands to reason that the defense should at least start out a little ahead of the offense. Lots of question marks>>>> Spring practice will hopefully address.
  11. Yes as a matter of fact MBA is still playing. MBA will play as the #5 mid/east seed against the #1 mid/east seed(winner of tonights Ryan- Ensworth game) on Saturday night. As for David Howard he is a great kid and a great player. He is still learning the offensive and defensive schemes used at MBA. He will be the featured player for years to come. I would go so far as to say the offense will be designed around David next year. I hear all about the weakness of DII, if you would list all the victories Indy has over DII programs since it opened>
  12. Anybody seen official schedules for DII schools? Kinda curious to see if any out of state games are scheduled.
  13. I dont know the order or location but I think these are MBA's opponents for 2009: BGA BA Ryan Baylor McCallie Ensworth JP II Pearl Cohn Maplewood Independence
  14. Lot of critical graduation losses across the board, with MUS returning Brunetti are they the favorite? Comments?
  15. Are athletes required to pass academic admission tests before being admitted? Are they required to do the same level coursework? Does EHS provide tutors for their student/athletes? One last question>>>Rumor has it that EHS semester exams are not until March to make sure there are no eligibility problems for football/basketball players
  16. This game is being played at Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cinc Bengals. I'm afraid depth will prove to be the difference. Moeller will dress about 90 kids all of which are seniors and juniors. I do think 3 or 4 sophomores dress who are good players. They all play and practice one way- all offense or all defense. They are deep and play a lot of people. MBA on the other hand is extremely thin and as many as 6 players will see time both ways. They wont play every down both ways but it may take its toll over a tough physical game. I hope I'm wrong and MBA crushes Moeller.Thoughts??
  17. He is close to full speed. He's not getting as many reps as he will when it counts but he looks good.
  18. It was pretty one sided. Goodpasture has some nice skilled players but had difficulty matching up on the line. MBA drove the ball pretty much at will the first 4 or 5 times they had it. Dent Shillinglaw and Dante Hughes ran the ball very effectively. Defensively MBA was dominant allowing few first downs and no points the duration of the scrimmage.
  19. Borders on West End has them. Got mine yesterday
  20. MBA will be up to speed quickly with 4 scrimmage scheduled: Aug 1 @Riverdale Aug 5 Goodpasture Aug 8 @Smyrna Aug 15 Independence
  21. Who played QB for MBA? Did the Turner kid take any snaps? If so, how did he look.
  22. That kid is some kind of talent. If stays healthy and makes his grades he'll play wherever he wants.By the way, outstanding work on the video>>
  23. Deante Hughes and Tyler Franks - both about the same size 5'10" 170 lbs and really quick.
  24. The QB transfers name is Drew Turner. He attended MBA in the 7th and 8th grades. His father, Todd Turner left Nashville to take the AD job at the University of Washington and the family has returned to Nashville. Drew has had some injury issues and a lingering shoulder problem may keep him from playing QB this season. He is however an outstsanding athlete and will likely start at safety and possibly contribute at wide reciever. Spencer Wise returns as the starting QB from last years undefeated team and it appears that he will be looked upon to air it out much more this season than last. While the offensive line will be good there is a big drop off this year at running back as compared to last. Crum and the two sophomores have tremendous speed but they cannot compare to the power of Waddey and Vinsang from last season. The Chris Sanders hire as receivers coach is already paying off with vast improvement at that position. Maybe a whole new look this year.....Go Big Red
  25. Spring practice now only two weeks away. Lots of changes within the coaching staff especially on the defensive side of the ball. Also a couple of big transfers coming in:Drew Turner (QB-DB) coming back from Washington and a big offensive lineman from Briarcrest should help immediately. It will be interesting to see if the ball control power football will continue. Defensively there are lots of graduating seniors to replace. Also it will be interesting to see if the schemes will change with the loss of Coach Elliott. Any thoughts?
