My guess is DB will be down but not enough to matter in conference. Playoffs may be unfriendly but they always are. What about TH?

Baseball is okay, basketball not so much IMHO. Football is king. It is time for everyone to get excited for the gridiron gang is about to return.

The comparisons of honor, blood and guts, etc. is BS. 16 -17 year olds can't see the big picture. He will be successful at SH because many will come out for the team simply because they are expected to succeed. This will end up giving SH four or five extra athletes that normally would have been in the bleachers and five to ten that will never see the field. The speed of this team will be superior to most in ET for any given year. Speed in high school is half the battle, with the other half strength and coaching. SH will advance to 2nd or 3rd round most years, occasionally they may reach Semi-Finals. They will split with DB over the course of a few years and defeat most other teams in conference most years. In five years I would expect SH football record to be somewhere around 48 wins, 10 losses, a couple of Big 9 titles. State Champs? Not likely but remotely possible. Just my meaningless opinion.

I wish him the best at UT. After taking part in a crime that forever changed the life of a young girl I guess you might as well hope that he has learned his lesson and does well in life. For the girl, I hope she has healed as much as possible, sad situation for her to be in....does she jump for joy for her cousin? Seems about normal though, he gets the oppurtunity to turn his life around after he ruined her life. Say what you want, our system doesn't function correctly. He got the oppurtunity to change his life for the better and she didn't get that chance since he took part of her life from her. I guess UT doesn't give scholarships to victims. Nuff said. No CAP, I am not part of the problem. My kid doesn't play now, I don't throw things or yell at officials, I have never been ejected from a game as a player or fan and neither has my kid. I clap for both teams most nights when I see a good play, I merely watch games in the area because I like it. I'm done with this one. Whats the game of the week this Tuesday/Friday?

Who cares? It's over and nobody can change what they did or did not do in the game. IF my kid were swung at twice I would have a hard time punishing my child for what Trent did on WJHL / TriCitiesSports. I honestly cannot name ANY athlete on ANY team that would tolerate being punched without retaliating. I wasn't there so I have no opinion on who is to blame. It sounded like the officiating let it get away from them all night and the crowd was in a frenzy that radiated to the floor. No excuse for the behavior but it is what it is. Volunteer earned a bad rep a few years back ( rightfully deserved ) but in the last couple of years I haven't seen any problem with the way they play. Some say the coach teaches it, if so, he should be sent packing not the boys that want to play ball.

I thought he was already in the " IF you so much as sneeze....you are gone" category. If that be the case, he should be off the team and off any other team until he is found innocent. If guilty, no football or baseball. This is not the first problem, from my limited understanding he was warned not to get in any trouble whatsoever. It would be very convenient to push the "punishment" back to the court date and play ball now wouldn't it? I go back to my previous comment....If he were a second string tackle he would be gone, probably in court this morning, and not allowed to play any sport for the remainder of the year. Again, I wish the best for this and any other teen going through similar circumstances. I hope he can overcome and turn into a great college athlete and great adult.

A one time deal should not be a ban for life, but there is a term for this type of behavior....Habitual Offender. Playing football is a privilege, not a right. There should only be one set of rules, not one for the star of the team and another set for the reserves. If he had been a second team tackle would he have gotten so many breaks? GVille has done more harm than good allowing him to be a part of the team this long. IMO his "get out of jail free" card has expired. Sincerely hope he gets his life straightened out, tremendous waste of talent.

I saw you guys early on and #40 and #8 ( Riner? ) both looked like decent backs. Are they hurt? #21 and #5 looked a little undersized to me.

That figures. The only rebel flag I saw was on a sign being held by the Science Hill cheerleaders for their team to run through. I was offended by this malicious act and am appalled that Science Hill administration would allow such a thing to go on at their fine facility. I can see your point about last years Bristol - South game....Touche'. I don't mean to start a war here either. It just seems that you basically dogged the entire MLC except South. The same thing exists in the Five Rivers, Big East, and most others I imagine, but it doesn't stop good teams from advancing. South made it to round 4, Greeneville made it to round 3, both of these teams were #1 seeds. My point is that once you leave the area, say round 4 and 5, perhaps then you have a point about strength of schedule helping prepare for playoffs. While you are still north of Knoxville it really doesn't matter because you are expected to advance, since as you say, the schedule is so weak and South and Bristol are so good. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If you come down off that pedestal where there is more oxygen, maybe you can think a little more clear and realize how absurd your last post was. Best I remember Bristol got put out of the playoffs by Volunteer last year. Are you really blaming that on playing Sull East, Central, Elizabethton, etc.? Oh, from the looks of last season and this season so far, I would not put Bristol in the same sentence as South just yet. Best get ready for the Indians instead of whining about how weak your conference is.
