  1. I agree. It's time to band together & file the lawsuit! Or form an association that will!
  2. What? 6x4=24 just as 8x3=24. Same amount of teams make the state tournament with 6 getting rings as apposed to only 3. It just won't happen to be the same school's with twice as many kids as everyone else in their class...
  3. TSSAA = Bush League! They will continue to cater to only football & snub other sports & genders until coaches/principals/schools OPENLY take a stand against them. The BCAT has yet to prove that they have the backbone to get things done like footballs association does. Now it's on the school's.....
  4. BTW- I noticed that Fulton stayed at the very top of 2A in classification numbers. How many think Jody Wright would have changed his vote for more classes if they would have moved to a small 3A instead?
  5. Bottom line! If the TSSAA can't make money on basketball and give fair opportunities to sports other than football, it's time for change. Not only board members but it's time for change in the TSSAA office! Enough is enough!
  6. It's the TSSAA's fault basketball doesn't make money! It's set up horribly! Other surrounding states with more classes make way more money! Alabama made 2 million dollars from basketball last year with half our population (with 6 classes). Now, some genius tell me we're more of a football state than them...lol
  7. Please forgive me for leaving out Greg McCullough. 95% of his schools wanted more classes, yet he listened to daddy Bernard and voted to stay three. The bad part is that his term doesn't expire until December 2018. That's if the TSSAA web site is correct. He needs to be 'persuaded' to step down..... He's obviously no longer wanted
  8. We must go after the BOC spots. I'm hearing Lots of support for getting for voting them out. Catlett & Roller betrayed their schools more than anyone and should be a top priority. Jody Wright was negative and pushed for 3 so he needs to be priority # 2! Chauncey is a TSSAA puppet that can't be trusted either.....
  9. No need talking about what should have happened. We all know that. We must go after the board members and the joke of an association we have (TSSAA)! Here are the BOC members that opposed the majority and didn't have enough backbone to stand up to the TSSAA office recommendation! Here were the votes for 3 classes: Mike Roller-Lipscomb Jody Wright- Fulton Mike Reed- Morristown Greg McCullough- Memphis Ricky Catlett- Chester Co. David Meske- Webb Tommy Layne- Sequatchie

  11. If football deserves 6 classes so does basketball! Coaches need to express their feelings!
  12. Why not do 6 classes which could make smaller districts, thus less travel. Games could even be played on Friday if necessary with fewer district games. Then only have two teams come out of the district. 4 teams from each class make the state tournament so you still have 24 teams there. If the TSSAA isn't competent enough to make more classes work, then changes need to be made with them....
  13. I'm hearing the same thing as far as having board support but that the TSSAA is going to try and 'buffalo' the board into keeping things the same.....
  14. If football student athletes deserve 6 classes, then basketball deserves 6 period! It's about student athletes having equal opportunity. If travel is a problem then have smaller districts, thus less travel dates like AL does. If this 'waters down' basketball, then the 6A football championship must really be a joke?
  15. Most ridiculous post on here!

    9-A News

I think what 9Aguru is saying is that your team may not be as big or as talented or complete as some of the other teams. Who cares! They can't help that! They play hard and scrappy and inspired and that's they can control and what really matters! Quit being so defensive and take it as a compliment!
  17. Why does six not work in Tennessee but does well in other states? So, it wouldn't be worth moving game times up an hour (to get home earlier) in order to give other sports the same opportunity as football? Why did Alabama (who has a far superior basketball format already) decide to even add another 7th classification (across the board) for next year? Like I previously said...schools in our district average 1.5 hours travel and some district teams border the AL state line while region teams border KY lines (diagonally)! Btw- some teams in our district would be 2a teams in AL and others would be 5A teams! Please tell me how the TSSAA could screw things up any more? Please tell me how, other than Bernard randomly picking out of a hat! Not to mention the fact that their financial numbers for the basketball tournament are almost as embarrassing as Donald Trump filing for bankruptcy twice in the casino business!!!!!
  18. First off; our school travels around 1.5 hours plus for 4 out of 6 district games and the other two are close to an hour so I understand travel. Also, we have had to drive over 3 hours for one game in the first rd of region. If that's the issue, then why not do it like football? Play two classes together in the regular season and then split them up into 6 classes for the tournament? Travel stays the same and basketball gets the same amount of rings and opportunity as football. Please now, coaches in schools at the upper end of classifications and football people tell me why this idea is so far fetched???????? Btw- this makes more sense in a tournament sport than even football!
  19. I have coached in AL & TN and I have been at the ahsaa state tournament all week. Great atmosphere!!!!! The biggest issue here is classifications! How anyone can justify giving 6 teams rings in football and 3 in other sports is beyond me. Btw football has less teams than basketball and way more kids per team that get a chance at a state championship. Why are football players more deserving than everyone else, other than the fact that we basketball coaches etc.. just set back and take it! Last time I checked our state wasn't exactly putting out lots of 4 and 5 star football players anyway. That said, I would like to see what would happen if someone proposed only 3 classes in football! Pretty sure they wouldn't stand for it! Alabama is going to 7 classes across the board next year to "make things more fair." I ran the numbers and adjusted for AL only counting 10-12 for classification numbers and found that a some teams in our district would be THREE classes smaller than the majority of the other schools in our district according to Alabama's areas. Absolutely amazing! The BCAT (basketball coaches association of TN) which I know has already proposed 6 classes was all but laughed at! Their best bet for change would be to take all the money they make on great clinics and pay the football association to make a 6 class proposal across the board! Because football is the only sport with enough backbone and influence to get anything done!!!!!
