  1. He had 8 offers a few D1s so like Yates he had choices but from the info I have gathered the academics came first and then football thats why he chose Mercer University. Plus I'm sure nice new facilities and a chance to start as a freshman came in to play also.
  2. That would be a huge get for Mercer to get both of those guys. Barrett was 7AAA lineman MVP last year.
  3. " I also really like Austin Barrett out of Murfreesboro (TN) Oakland. Saw him scrimmage earlier this spring. Kid is athletic and disruptive. He's about 6-2 so not a massive body but he's a football player. He's a guy that I like in-state. He's definitely a BCS level prospect and could be an SEC guy. He's definitely a guy to watch." 4. Austin Barrett 2014 DT,OT Oakland High school. 6 ft 2 in 280 lbs 9 games 59 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 int. Check out his highlights and profile http://www.hudl.com/...#austin-barrett
  5. Thanks MJpride. That thread hijacking was annoying. Hopefully they will move over here.
  6. Rutherford County knocked them off 4 times you forgot Oakland beat Franklin in 2008
  7. Neither do I. I just feel like they had a couple of bad games. I don't think our inside linebackers are poor either. I know we aren't the best in the county but, I think they have done a good job for us.
  8. OP, I believe #32 Chesterfield is a strong saftey, #5 Swader and #20 Mitchell are the corners.
  9. If you saw the Brentwood game and I know you were at our game I think our secondary has been a little more suspect than I thought it would have been. In seasons 2008 and 2009 3 of our top five tacklers were d linemen. I know that is not the norm but this year there is only 1 d lineman in our top 5. I just felt like poor was a strong word for those guys. I feel like they all have played well to be first year starters with the exception of Mcadoo being our lone returning backer this year. I never said you didn't say anything nice about our team and I have never said anything about Blackmans either. I know there are always better players at every position on every team.
  10. I have followed this team all year and I don't think they are the weakest part of our D. I never said or thought we were the best at every position. I know that most coaches love to run the ball right at a defence if they can and no one has done that to us all year effectively. Our top three tacklers are all linebackers. I do think Smyrna has more size than we do on the D line and that may cause us some problems. I do agree that Smyrna has a better linebacking core they are seasoned and have had alot of playing time over the past few years compared to our guy which are mostly first year starters this year. I do wish you guys luck and hope we can meet each other again in the playoffs.
  11. Well, The game plan should be easy for Smyrna. They should just run it inside since Oaklands linebackers are garbage.
  12. I think you hit this nail right on the head OP.
  13. Looks like every teams offense that plays Ohio Co has a big game. They aren't very good. Here is their shedule. Oakland will be the best team Christian County plays all year. 8/27/ @ Hancock County (Lewisport, KY) 22-58 (L) 9/03/ @ Daviess County (Owensboro, KY) 13-29 (L) 9/10/ Central Hardin (Cecilia, KY) 21-37 (L) 9/17/ Union County (Morganfield, KY) 27-47 (L) 9/24/ Owensboro (Owensboro, KY) * 0-27 (L) 10/01/ Hopkinsville (Hopkinsville, KY) * 39-36 (W) 10/08 @ Christian County (Hopkinsville, KY) * 7-71 (L) 10/15/ @ North Hopkins (Madisonville, KY) * 9-49 (L)
  14. There were two Barretts on the field #43 Justin Junior linebacker and #77 Austin D-line Freshman. I an sure they enjoyed getting to play on the field together. And yes he looks just like Derek on the field.
  15. Little Barrett is a Freshman so I think he has the potential to be great. His brother Justin #43 also starts at Middle linbacker for the Pats and is having a great year so far. It was fun to see them both on the field together Friday night. Oakland played 3 Freshman Friday night in the 2nd half. The future looks great for OHS.
  16. Yes, They play at Cumberland Oct 2 at 1:30 PM. I heard it is a possibility it could be an all Oakland D-line at LWC. Barrett, Coffee, and Murray.
  17. Yes, One is a Junior and will be getting some playing time at linebacker and the youngest has been rehabing a broken leg and will be ready to go in a few weeks he is already 6ft 2in and weighs 288lbs and is probably one of the best middle school lineman I have seen In a while. I also heard that The oldest brother Derek will be starting nose guard at Lindsey Wilson college In KY and may be named Defensive Captain as a redshirt Freshman.
  18. I understand what you are saying and you are right about stats, but this is not the first year Barrett has put up good stats. He was named to the All Region team last year, named in the top 48 players in TN by Rivals and Scout.com this year and named as one of the top 10 players to watch this year in the region by the Murfreesboro Post. Maybe the coaches were trying to game plan around Barrett because they are the ones that selected him all region last year. McAdoo was the unknown factor for these coaches and now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place because they cant gameplan for them both it ends up being pick your poision. From the story I read on unauthorized website Barrett can move on to be 290lbs he said he was timed by coaches at WKU and Ole Miss at 5.0 on his 40 and 4.6 sec on his 5-10-5 short shuttle. That is why I think both should be considered for the award. I was at the game vs Blackman and Barrett was all over the place. I just don't see a big difference between him and McAdoo, but I sure am glade they are both Patriots.
  19. I don't think Mcadoo anchors the D-Line according to the stats on MX preps. The other D tackle Barrett missed his first 4 games according to what I have seen in other posts on here during the season. If that is the case then Barrett has more total tackles and sacks than Mcadoo over the six games both of them played together. I do think both of them need to be considered. Here are the stats for each player over the last 6 games which are still very good for both players. Barrett - 22 tckls 21 assists for 43 total tckls 2.5 sacks Mcadoo - 22 tckls 13 assists for 35 total tckls 2 sacks
  20. I would also like to nominate Derek Barrett Defensive Tackle from Oakland High School. Derek is a SR at Oakland he is 6' 2" and weighs 295 lbs. Derek is a very physically dominate, athletic, and productive D-line man. His stats from last year as listed in an article on Unapproved Website were 50 tackles, 7 for a loss, 3 sacks, and 2 blocked PATs. Derek was also selected to the All Region team last year as a Junior. Derek missed 4 early games due to injury this year and has still registered 34 total tackles and 2 sacks in 5 games. Derek had a season high at Lebanon on Oct 17th his totals were 6 solo 2 asst and 2 sacks. Derek's stats also do not show the many double teams he has to battle each game just to get the stats he has. There have been 3 games in which he has register 9 or more tackles this season. Derek is rated in the top 50 players in the state of TN by Scout.com. He has been a big part of an Oakland defense that has given up just over 9 points a game (83 pts total) and helped the Patriots become region champions in 4-5A for the first time in 15 years. I hope you consider Derek Barrett as a nominee for 5A Mr. Football Lineman.
  21. Senior DT Derek Barrett (6'2" 295lbs) Ranked #48 TN prospect scout.com, DT Tim McAdoo (6'2" 315lbs) Junior prospect, and Senior DE Anthony Amey (6'1" 230lbs) Also a college prospect
  22. I think Barrett may be back this week or next. I'm not sure about Amey because his injury happend tonight. I will try to find out more asap. Barrett got hurt the Riverdale game so he has had some time to get well.
