  1. Any injuries to report for either side?
  2. Thanks for the clarification sleeper. I'm not sure of your source sirlancealot but Queen Gwynevere told me that Tony is in. I tend to trust the Queen since she is part of the family. I understand his situation, and it would be tough to risk injury. On the other hand, it would be tough to play all these years only to skip your senior year. It's good to know that Tony is going to make one last run of it in 09.
  3. Two things: 1)What is the bump reference all about? I'm new to the message board world. 2)Again if my source is accurate, this is the best weight lifting year Centennial has ever had. I'm not saying that there are several 300 pound benchers, but they have more guys with decent strength than they have ever had in the past. Centennial could have a very interesting program the next few years since they have been placed in 5A and are now OPEN ZONED!
  4. As an honest Indy Eagle supporter, I needed to make a few corrections. Centennial has been bad in the past but have improved since Coach Mat arrived. Sorry mack, but we didn't "whoop" the Cougars in 2008. Centennial beat our boys in football at our own house. I believe it was 37 to 20 something. On another note, it is very likely that both Hillsboro and Centennial will make the 5A playoffs. Between the two, the one with the best record will advance. In addition to that, the wild card selections are based purely on record. It is quite possible that if you had an 8-2 Hillsboro team get the automatic bid that a 7-3 Centennial team would qualify for a wild card spot. I just wanted to throw that out there if no one had considered it. Can't wait to see Hillsboro vs. Indy. Eubanks and company better prepare well. A rough season could mean his job.
  5. Wow! This whole thread is nuts! If INVOL1 is WrestleRed and blockdown is Coach Whitefield, does that still make Clark Kent Superman? whatever! I just want to know more info on Whitefield's destination. I have also caught wind of his surfacing at Centennial, but I have just a somewhat reliable source. Anybody have any updates?
  6. I realize there is already a place to post schedules, but it seems that all of them are incomplete. Any updates on scheduling? Franklin, Brentwood, Centennial, Ravenwood, Independence, Hillsboro What is 2009 going to look like?
  7. Let me see if I can answer a few questions on the board. I have a pretty good source, and I am assuming he is telling truthful information. Kemp apparantly has had some baseball scholarship offers from some pretty nice colleges. While baseball seems to be the kid's passion, Kemp WILL play football in 09. No Scales? No problem! I say this jokingly, but there is someone who may can fill the void somewhat. T.J. Leach is a sophomore quarterback with talent and speed. He played some defense for the varsity last year and as a freshmen quarterbacked the freshmen team to a near perfect season. He helped beat both Frankllin and Brentwood on the freshmen level for the first time in Centennial's history. Now I realize you are putting quite a weight on this kid's shoulders as a sophomore, but I hear the kid has character to handle it. Centennial's strength in the defense? The Cougars should finally be able to stop folks on a consistent basis. On the front line, they have at least one All Region player returning in DE Carpenter. They also will have the big kid (#78 or #76) coming back from injury along with DT Hellewell who is a 300lb monster. The secondary will still consist of at least T.J. Leach and Spallinger who is a LOCKDOWN corner. The major concern may be at LB where I believe all graduated but depth is plentiful. Last but not least, I heard from a buddy of mine in the Fairview area that their old head coach is joining the Cougar staff. This may be considered more of a rumor though. Can anyone back up this rumor?
  8. I went and saw Gallatin play Glencliff, McGavock, and Hendersonville. You haven't seen #78 lay wood on anyone? Have you not seen this kid pull? Plus the starting RB sanchez holder is back as well as the WR #5 woods... It will be a great game to watch. Gallatin gets it 24-21 I am not saying #78 is a bad player. He could just be more physical. Half the time when he pulls, he can't get to the DE or LB before the back is already by him. Secondly when making contact, he shield blocks quite often. A kid with this size should be laying people out EVERY play. These are just observations from the bleachers. Best of luck Friday night.
  9. Centennial had some really long drives against Siegel (They had the ball for drives of 8 minutes at a time and kept the rock the whole second half.) and a couple against Brentwood early in the season. Don't get me wrong though. Centennial is a big play offense. They run certain plays to get you to make that one mistake so they can take advantage. Most teams cannot stop their big play capabilities. They just have to keep them at a minimum. Good luck to both teams.
  10. Two questions about Gallatin... Just how big is number 78? He looks massive and is number 9 the QB? I heard he is quite the athlete.
  11. I lived near Moore County (Tullahoma) for almost thirty years before moving to Spring Hill. I saw the rise (during the 80s and 90s) and the collapse (2001-to present) of the Raider football program. Unless Stewart, Wells, Womack, Noles, Syler, Norman, Logan, Finchum, and etc (I could go on forever) strap on the pads for Friday night, I do NOT see the Blue Raiders having any shot at all in this contest although I want to congratulate them on making the play-offs. I hope they prove me wrong.
  12. I must agree after seeing both of these teams in person at one point in the season that speed will be the major difference here. One point I have to differ with in an earlier post is the offensive line of Gallatin. I was not impressed whatsoever. #78 has great size but really didn't lay the wood to anyone. Also the line made initial blocks but didn't stay engaged. HOWEVER, Centennial's defense up front is nothing special since Orlando McGloskey broke his leg. I have a feeling this may very well be a high scoring event with Centennial's speed giving them the slight edge although they cannot afford to turn the ball over the way they did against Franklin. It should be a great game in a great atmosphere. Both squads should be proud of their efforts in 2008.
  13. Does anybody have any updates on any KEY players that will be out injured this Friday? Thanks
  14. I hate to hear about Krow being hurt with the team doing so well and it being so late in the season. It is going to be a cold, rainy night. Does the weather being "icky" give an advantage to one team over the other?
  15. With the success Centennial is having, it will be interesting to see if any assistants are lured away or if the staff stays intact. I know Baughman and a couple of the other coaches led the freshmen team to a season with only one blemish. I was told they beat both Brentwood and Franklin for the first time. (not sure how accurate this info is)
  16. I am not smoking anything but please pass the bottle you are sipping from. Don't chalk up the state title to the Bruins just yet. You were right on the money with saying Region 6 5A is the strongest which means Brentwood may see the likes of Franklin and Centennial again down the road. I do agree that the Bruins are stacked on both sides of the ball AND that Indy winning is HIGHLY unlikely. Just don't put the cart before the horse. The Bruins are going to have some tough competition after the next two weeks are in the books. On another note...it is quite possible that all four play-off teams from this Region could advance on to the second round even the 4th seed. What a region!
  17. It is all about ball control. If Indy can keep a balanced attack and minimize turnovers, they should have a shot. The excuses are weak. Yes, they may have graduated a lot of talent and yes, they may be young. But now is the time to have some pride and put on a good showing. Indy CAN beat Brentwood but will they? That's another story. Since Indy is out of contention for the post season, all they are playing is the spoiler role. They can possibly deny Brentwood the region title.
  18. The whole coach staffing is new except a couple of guys.
  19. We all know that football is a team sport but someone has to receive the awards. No one has meant more to his team than CHAZ SCALES This young man has taken the Cougars and carried them on his back. He runs the show. He has one amazing game after the other. I'm no Centennial fan by any means but this kid is the real deal. The stats do not lie either. He should have an opportunity for 1,000 yards both rushing and passing with two regular season games left. He also plays the entire game both ways as he is a starting cornerback as well as the quarterback. The young man has accounted for over 20 TDs and won't stop there. The true test comes on Halloween against Franklin. If he performs as well against them as he has the other region foes then putting him on the ballot is a must. This game takes place right before your ballot has to be determined. Get your pen ready and let Scales write himself in earning it all the way.
  20. The Bears will have Senior Night this Friday with the Flyers having upset on their minds. Brentwood has all the reason in the world to play hard with the Centennial Felines and the Rebellious bunch from Franklin breathing down their necks. Independence should compete but the Bruins will refuse to let anyone spoil their big night. It's not Thanksgiving yet but there should be plenty of cooked bird to go around after this one. Prediction: Brentwood 28 Independence 17 Comments??
  21. Centennial comes off the bye week and may be a little flat. Rumor has it that they have suffered a few injuries. Columbia's best defense will be their offense. They need to play keep away and control the clock. Columbia showed against Franklin that they can compete with a tough north and south running attack, but it will not be enough against the Cougars. Centennial's defense is just adequate with the offense running on all cylinders. With the Cougars winning it will lock up the 3rd seed and keep them alive for any seeding above that. They will ultimately win after the Lions wear down. Centennial 44 Columbia 21 Franklin and Brentwood need to handle their own business and everything should work out. No one can afford to overlook anyone in this region.
  22. The last two weeks of football for region 6 5A should be fantastic. Here is what we can look forward to: With Northeast taking care of Dickson Co. last night, Northeast will play Ravenwood for the final play-off spot since the winner would also have the tie breaker aspect. If the Centennial Cougars can run the table against Columbia and Franklin, the powercats would finish second in the seeding of the region and share the region crown (interesting eh?). While Independence has been eliminated from post season contention, they could play a huge role in the play-off seeding if they upset Brentwood. With a Brentwood loss, it opens the door for Frankliln and Centennial. Also if Brentwood wins out and Centennial happens to beat Franklin, the Rebels would go to the post season as the #3 seed. I say all this because of how everyone has talked about Franklin being such a power house in Middle Tennessee. While this is very deserving, their possible second or third place finish shows how much talent is truly in Region 6 5A. Now I want your FINAL predictions. Which four go to the play-offs and at what seeding do they finish? 1. Brentwood (Indy won't beat them since they have no motivation of advancing themselves.) 2. Centennial (The Cougs will show Franklin speed that they have not seen all year and squeak out a close win.) 3. Franklin (That's right. The so called cream of the crop will land in the #3 spot. They will take Centennial lightly and it will cost them dearly.) 4. Ravenwood (I have this odd feeling that Northeast will play them closer than the experts think but Rector will not allow his boys to overlook the game of the year for the Raptors.)
  23. Brentwood 4-1 7-1 Centennial 4-1 6-2 Franklin 4-1 7-1 Ravenwood 3-2 4-4 Columbia 1-4 3-5 Clarksville Northeast 1-3 3-4 Independence 1-4 3-5 Dickson County 1-3 1-6 So really these last two weeks of the season will just determine seeding.
  24. So does this solidify the 4 play-off spots? Brentwood, Franklin, Centennial, and Ravenwood are in and the rest of the teams have officially been eliminated?
  25. Any news on this one? Can someone give the score and maybe a summary of the game? Thanks
