  1. I seem to remember that same exact prediction last season. Did Lausanne win the title? No they got upset by a team they had beaten 3 times that year. All the more reason they will be hungry to make amends this year. So save your little smiley face for someone else....
  2. The reference to the Insells refers to their influence in the world of girls' basketball, especially with Nike, and the way they use that influence to not only further their agendas but freeze other clubs out to insure their continued influence. The worst part about it is that many of the premier kids in Tennessee are being negatively affected by the Flight being the only true Nike program in TN, yet going across country to recruit. Then they go out of their way to prevent other TN clubs from getting into Nike. Way more that needs to be said on the subject but most of it has already been stated before. Something needs to change
  3. TN Flight lost its first bracket game at Nike Nationals to Cal Swish and their season is over. With 4 of their 5 starters from outside of Tennessee, the Flight was hyped as the dream team with several top 100 players from across the country. Instead they failed to win any of the major Nike tournaments, including losing to the Boo Williams 15u team at USJN, and then the embarasing incident against the Fairfax Stars. One thing they were successful at was keeping the Memphis Elite from being invited to Nike Nationals, even though they beat several of the Nike teams at Boo Williams, AAU Showcase and AAU Nationals. 3 of the top 4 finishers at AAU Nationals were at Nike Nationals, with the exception of the repeat national champions. The Elite was made up primarily of TN girls with 3 from neighboring KY. Hopefully one day Nike will figure out there is way too much talent in TN and the surrounding areas to put all their eggs into the Insell basket, especially since they feel the need to go across country to get kids. But i kinda doubt it.....
  4. Is the next verse of that song "Pay your children well so they will send Flight kids to MTSU?"
  5. Actually this is how it works, and no not even I could make this up. If you have all of your best players, not just the ones from TN, they're not good enough, but Lewis, Dolson, McFarland and Ransford, then and only then are you called Flight Silver. You can't risk tarnishing (ha, that's funny) the Silver by risking a less than shining (there i go again) performance. This weekend in KY, with those 3 out, but McFarland in, then you are called Platinum. If none of the big 4 players are there, sub in the 3 girls from Mercy in Louisville, and you are called Blue. The only constant is the ex-Team Pride team is always called Navy, but instead of giving them some of the better TN players to make their team stronger, the Navy is always the B team. However, if they have somebody the Flight wants then they would put them on one of their multi colored or metal teams. Makes sense now, right?
  6. Memphis Elite defeats TN. Flight ( Insell) 71-65, without Avant and Fussell. Memphis Elite played well all weekend, congrats for the third year in a ROW.
  7. Don't know what your beef is, but don't interprete the local newspaper's shoddy coverage to reflect lack of interest in girl's basketball. More girls are being recruited to play college ball than ever from Memphis. 17 girls just from the Memphis Elite, one of those jake leg groups you reference, are moving on to play at all levels of college ball. Memphis girls teams are legitimately contending for gold balls, so tell me exactly what you see is the problem? Heck three posters from the Memphis area are legendary on coacht, from coachgat and duknowthegame to philtenn.
  8. Oh yes, that is putting it mildly. Amazing stategy......
  9. No surprise there, that's where the politics are in this state. The interesting thing will be which players are punished for NOT going to MTSU.......
  10. So let me get this straight, you know that i don't know enough about this situation to make the comments i have made? Then why would i take the time to do so. Sounds like you are the one who thinks he knows it all. You think you know I'm from Memphis or Knoxville, and that i couldn't possibly know anything because i haven't posted much on coacht and I'm not a Plus member? If i wanted to say more at this point I would, if I wanted to go to the TSSAA I would. I didn't start the topic, only contributed to it. I'm gonna go see if i can scrounge up the $24 for that plus membership so i will have some real credibility like you....lol.
  11. So you upset that I may know enough about the situation to know there may be fire with the smoke, or you peddling memberships? There are plenty of people who know about this situation, you may be one of them for all i know. And all I'm saying, as I said in my original post, is there are a lot of dynamics in play in this situation with this coach and player and others with an interest. Don't shoot the messenger, it is what it is, and if no rules were broken then nothing will come of it. Not my place to play investigator, that's what Ronnie and the boys get paid to do.....
  12. Depending on how much TSSAA really looks into this, they could find a whole lot of interesting things regarding this situation and the coach. Or it could be swept under the rug.
  13. Congrats on the big win Mayor Gat. Can't believe you did your buddy DU like that. And without Tesa and Olivia! Here comes another Commercial Appeal article....lol
  14. The great equalizer is the scoreboard: FINAL Millington (minus 2 starters) 50 Bartlett (with JJ) 47 Someone might need to do the heimlich maneauver on DU - bet he choked on that popcorn
  15. All valid points but who is left to put ahead of them? You can make a case for Lausanne and White Station which would put Bartlett at 4, but it is gonna be tough to see what Bartlett has until late in the year, as i don't see anyone on their league schedule testing them, especially if millington stays banged up like they are.
  16. Nothing in that post is hearsay, everything stated as fact is fact. What is not known or proven is whether rules were broken, never insinuated they were or weren't. Many people can verify the statements i made. It looks like you have a parent(s) who for whatever reasons got ticked at the coach, perhaps their child lost playing time due to the transfers, and decided to get back at the coach by threatening to turn her into the TSSAA. If so probably made the situation worse by going to the police, but again this is speculation. However, if she did bend the rules she might be in trouble.
  17. Sounds like the new definition of stalking is someone not doing what you want them to do and not keeping their mouths shut.
  18. Get your head out of the sand and face the realities of the situation. Coach gets early tip Riverdale coach is leaving and due to relationship gets the job, tells the Independence players she wants what is up and what they have to do to join her, players transfer, then it gets dicey from here apparently as to whether they do everything on the up and up. Potentially blurring the ethical line even further is now the coach is engaged to a MTSU asst coach. Will be interesting to see how that whole dynamic plays out, since the line has already been completely removed between MTSU and the local travel ball program run by a family member of the MTSU coach, a program which the Riverdale coach is linked very strongly to. Just check out the MTSU incoming freshman class to verify that. Today TSSAA, tomorrow NCAA?
  19. The truth hurts but Briarcrest is yesterday's news, haven't been competitive at the highest level in 3 years. They will make it to the Div II state tournament due to weak competitiion besides St Benedict, and might be fortunate enough to make it to Nashville with an easy first round draw, but bottom line is St Benedict is the king of DII Large in West TN and there is no looking back. I'd have to give the advantage to Webb at this point on a statewide basis due to the senior leadership of Faith and Goshwitz, but better enjoy it while you can. Webb will move down to small division starting next year, setting up the potential for a Webb/Lausanne state final. That'll get your popcorn popping....
  20. In Memphis he would be referred to as King Gat. Not even Millington gets a 14 part series in the newspaper like King Willie.
  21. You've been nipping on that East Tn moonshine regarding your guard analysis but are certainly entitled to your opinion. Fortunately the folks on the hill feel differently. My reference to their current guards was to Bass not Bobbitt. I haven't seen McMinn Central or Upperman but they are both solid programs as are Gibson County, Obion, and Westview down this way. The state tourney in AA is gonna be a shoot out for sure
  22. Classy thing to say about a 16 year old playing with a fever, the flu, and bronchitis. I will bet you will be plenty impressed with Avant when she wears orange in a couple of years, probably pull for her and have your kid ask for her autograph. She will be one of the best point guards they have had in awhile, and is already better than what they have on the floor. You didn't see a Lausanne team at full strength or playing to their potential, sorry they disappointed you. South Greene is a tough team that was playing great ball and would have been a test even if Lausanne had been at full strength. They should make some noise in AA. The Dobyns Bennett game was a game Lausanne would have won convincingly at full strength, but the fact is the remaining players still should have been able to give them a good game, which they didn't. I Since we're sharing diappointments, I was disappointed in your little ole referees up there in East Tn. They sure didn't help matters.....
  23. No one including Central gets the coverage Millington does, that is indisputable. Actually maybe coachgat should run for mayor. As for Bartlett, they don't deserve to move up because a team ahead of them lost to another top 5 team. You can't punish them for losing to White Station without rewarding them for beating Millington by 15. Yes you can spin it any way you want, but Bartlett needs to show it on the court before i put them ahead of Lausanne. Go beat Millington by 15 and we'll talk about it. As for JJ, any team that can defend her will beat Bartlett, end of story. Go ahead I am ready for the 500 word reply DU. If I didn't know better I'd think you were related to her..... PS: Just having some fun so don't get all worked up and choke on your popcorn.....
  24. Hard to argue Central at the top at this point. Good combination of experience and young talent, and they performed well on the big stage in AZ. Very premature to move Bartlett ahead of Lausanne. I'm assuming it was based in part on Lausanne's losses in Greeneville which had a lot to do with Avant being out with the flu and bronchitis. Bartlett will have their chances to show how they compare to the better teams in the city but i haven't seen anything significant in their body of work at this point to justify the move. Millington continues to get their ranking based on last year and the local paper's love affair with them, even though they are clearly not playing the same level of ball and haven't been all year, even before the Maddox injury. Lausanne's 15 point victory over Millington got very little discussion but having seen the Millington coverage in the Commercial Appeal from the Collierville Holiday Tournament, I am convinced Coach Gat should change careers from coaching basketball to public relations. That having been said, I believe the one team locally who can beat Central is Millington, at full strength and playing like they should have been playing all year, as a TEAM. White Station is ranked below 2 teams they have defeated, Millington and Lausanne. They may have the most overall talent and depth of any team in the city. Overton is ranked only 1 spot above East who they beat by 40, and Houston is ranked well below where their proper spot should be. It will shake out in the wash as these teams play one another, but in the meantime just another well researched Dandy Dozen by the local rag.....
