  1. Not sure Indian Outlaw how she prepared them for Tellico, she did not even practice one time with the team before they played. She would not even ride the bus with the team. I saw Tellico at Wartburg scouting Dist 4 and I am sure Tellico or any team in that region was not scouted by Oneida.
  2. Wartburg made several good adjustments against Oneida that helped them win the game. The biggest difference was Wartburg shooting 26 free throws and Oneida only shooting 9. Not blaming refs by any means but the technical called by the farthest ref away from the action with the other two looking right at the girl and not calling anything is questionable. The frustration the girl had was with herself not the initial call. The foul at the end was game by the Oneida player was a foul, the question there is why foul in that situation. Coach Jackson has done a super job thus far and I agree with an earlier post that the tournament is up for grabs. At this time Wartburg should be the favorite getting to play on their home floor with OS providing the biggest challenge.
  3. Oneida appears to have made tremendous strides in the off-season. Line play appears to be as strong as it has been in quite a few years. West to West could be lethal and Bear may be the best in the district. Not sure what Greenback has, but all reports seem to be they have all the tools needed to compete week in and week out. This could be another in a long line of memorable games between these schools. I am on the outside looking in, but I believe line play will be the difference in Oneida's favor.
  4. I agree with most of the post on the Oneida girls. They can be a very good time as well as a very bad team. At this point they need to take it upon themselves. They can win the 4A crown. It will be hard to put the constant screaming from the sidelines out of their minds and the senseless substitution patterns and just play ball, but they can do it. They have as strong of a 7 player rotation as their is in this area.Certainly not a pressing team, but there is effort.
  5. Has Oneida hired a defensive coordinator? If my memory serves me correctly, was Coach Burchfield the coordinator for many years including the state championship year? Is he contend at this point in his career being a position coach?
  6. I also heard Sandy Martin was hired. Sounds like a good hire to me. Do not really know her, but did hear she will put the best five on the floor. That came from a parent of one of the girls who started last year.
  7. I agree, open up the application process for a head coach. If the top candidate is already there or a current asst. coach then so be it, give them the job, but the players deserve someone that can make them reach their potential. The main focus should be on getting the lady indians back to the top and at least being competitive
  8. I do not see Oneida having a strong finish. There seems to be a reluctance on the coaches part to play the more productive players. Granted, I do see every game in person, but I have seen every game on film or in person and a couple players have stepped up their production, but minutes or starting positions do not change. I do even see the effort from some starters that was there early in the year. I feel this is a sentiment shared by many Oneida fans and I fully understand not everyone will not share my thoughts, but the stats do not lie. Now is the time to shake things up and try different rotations before district tourney time. What can be the harm?
  9. It appears Oneida has many more problems than youth. Shortcomings are becoming very evident and not just on the floor however; there seems to no quit in the most of the players. Coalfield is simply better, but Oakdale very easily could of been a win. Again, I say the senority system of starting time and playing time is not working. It is not a case of experience since after two particular juniors no one has much experience. CDM and assistants are working as hard as they can, so better things hopefully will happen.
  10. Have seen the Oneida girl's play a couple times this year and have talked to some of their fans. Right now it seems playing time is by senority and not talent. CDM is a pretty sharp guy and will probably figure things out by crunch time. He has a couple juniors that can help him win and a few sophomores that actually gives him a better chance of winning at this early point in the season.
  11. I agree with Kazam the Lady Indians played hard till the end. I still believe after the coach and players become more familiar with each other things will fall in place. CDM has been around, but he has not had to make the decisions the head coach has to make in the course of the game. He had some valuable players sitting in the second half when they needed to be on the floor. Overall, an impressive showing for the coach and players.
  12. Coach West took some time off, but the Ladies are still in capable hands with long time assistant Coach Marcum. Marcum has also added Coach Martin to the staff. She is plenty experienced as a player and coach. There may be an early season drop-off, but by crunch time this team should be in the mix. Youth is the biggest obstacle, he may start 5 juniors, but his best chance of winning will be three juniors and 2 sophomores starting.
  13. I have to go with the Indians in this one. My only concern is that after week 2 they have not had a game in doubt. Wartburg and OZ were fairly close, but the outcome was never in question. I feel the exp. staff at Oneida will have them ready and as the defense is still the strong point of this team, the offense is not far behind.
  14. Graduation took care of the Indian chemistry problem. I look for good thinds from the lady indians this year. Good enough to win it is still to be determined. They are for the most part are a hard working bunch. Three juniors and a couple sophomores should be depended to carry most of the load.
  15. champ, you will get no argument here. It seems some players want the game to end, so all fans and girlfriends can gather on the field. Win or lose it seems to be the same attitude.
  16. Weather can be a great equalizer, but I feel Greenback has to much for Grace, but the score will be closer than many expect.
  17. Brisco, This Oneida reminds me of the 89 team with quick athletic linebackers and a strong line. The secondary play is solid and they will lay the wood. I feel we have not seen all the offense can do. They have a strong, good technique line with a group of outstanding backs that individually bring alot to the team. The QB has developed into a really good player who will not get you beat and will deliver a timely throw when needed to a good group of receivers. This team is well coached as was the 89 team. The one attribute that really reminds me of the 89 group from a casual fan standpoint is that it appears from the outside looking in that it does not matter to the players who gets the credit or (glory) if you will. Much of this comes from the coaches who seem to be bringing that attitude back after being absent for a while. Coach B started the train rolling in the right direction again and TL and stoked the furnace and has brought in asst. coaches who are 100% committed to his mission for his program. All said, this is only one persons opinion.
  18. Midway scores first, but Indians do most of the scoring OHS 28 MHS 14
  19. Pugo, Your posts are always insightful and informative and you appear to have more football knowledge than the average poster, but your comments on this topic are borderline ridiculous. I am a public school supporter and attended and support public schools, but you are stepping way out of bounds with hearsay and innundo and putting down atheletes you try so hard to uphold on other posts. If indeed they are as quilty as you have them being, then I am sure the powers that be will soon be on their campus, until then, please leave thier athletes alone.
