  1. Hey careful there Obama. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. And besides the talent has been there many times (like last year). What happened against McMinn Co.? You know, since you are all knowing. Explain that one to us. Thanks for missing me Waco. In addition, thanks for giving me a reason to come out of retirement after a whopping 10 posts or so. I consulted with my cabinet, and our findings support my decision to step down from the coach t affiliation.(Bigger fish to fry) However, I can't recall any of my former posts being of this nature(with the exception of my one reply to KK-Kompusatman), but Oh well, you tried. I agree with you though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and most if not all of the ones here do not matter in the big scheme of things. But to answer your question since I am "All Knowing" what happened last year against McMinn Co? Chris had 200+yds in the first half, and the game was well under control, he unfortunately gets injured, therefore unable to return in the 2nd half... and there you have it. It's not rocket science. We obviously did not have enough talent. So, although you were not posing that to me, I still don't see your point? But anyway, thanks for all of your countless hours of research and reporting on here. Maybe it will pay off one day.
  2. Friday evening I was listening to the "Football Friday" show here in Nashville and I listened to some pretty interesting comments regarding High School Football around the south. The Thom Abraham Show on dawghouse sports had a guest Jonathan Shaffer on who is a former personality from espn 106.7 affiliate(former) here in Nashville. Jonathan spoke about his decade of coverage of HS football and mentioned a highlight story from E.TN and Sull South. He mentioned the tremendous story of the team rallying despite adversity and what an inspirational story it was for us all. Immediately afterwards, he began to speak about the Elite football programs in E TN and statewide for that matter. He noted that what makes teams elite is community support and not so much of having a strong financial backing. DB is an elite program, and that is an understatement. The winningess high school football program in the state never goes unnoticed. Even in Nashville and surrounding areas. They got tremendous coverage last season while ranked #1 in the state. I quess my point is that whether rebuilding or not this season, the community has really been behind this program for years. Especially in comparison to some of the large schools I see here in Middle Tn. Coach Clark is a great man, and a great coach. The things I take from my playing days with him are more than football could ever teach. He really cares about his players, and doesn't miss opportunities to help make men out of the boys that enter his program and leadership. I look forward to seeing this teams' character as a result of this challenging start to the season. I know the community will stand behind them, now, and in the near future when things are back to the dominant ways that we are known for. Keep fighting guys! The season is not over.

  4. He's playing linebacker. From what it looked like against Farragut, it comes very natural to him, especially given his lack of reps in spring/summer at the position. At this point, the best atheletes need to be on the field at all times. There are many teams that use thier running backs as db's and on special teams. Especially at the HS level. If you notice in a lot of the pictures from Farragut and Friday's game, he gets good penetration and at times, is our only defender that is seen in the opponents backfield.
  5. The Indians are where they are this year. Call it rebuilding or two tough early games. IMO it is a combination of both. Either way, as a young team, this is probably just what they needed and I think they can only grow from these last two games. The truth is that DB is not used to fighting back after a dissapointing start except for two years ago when they had a rough start and brought CS up as a Fresh. It is time to see the true character of this team (and fans) as the remainder of this season will easily be confused as fools gold. Let's not get it twisted, the Tribe has it's work cut out and cannot afford to sleep on anyone this yr, including Central. I look forward to seeing what the GMAN and Watson come up with now that they are sitting on fast balls. BTW where's Waco? I'm used to getting my fix without having to type
  6. What's the latest on Smyrna's all world running back? Is it that the O/line isn't as good and he doesn't have the oles he once did, or has his role been expanded to include defense and special teams? I wish him the best, as TN sports fans have read about his accoplishments since early in his FROSH yr. Has Reminded me of the RB in E TN at Dobyns Bennett, who was called up as a FROSH and is now 300+ yds of being the All-Time leading rusher at the winningest High School in the History of the State of TN. Roll Tribe, but thanks for the update any Smyrna fans.
  7. You have been "hating" on Chris since your son was at the Boys Club! Saying that Chris is scaring kids, etc. Because of his poor technique back then too I guess..... For you to even mention that this isn't intended to be a racial slur or combative speaks volumes about your racist views on minorities. You were quick to point out his issues/faults, but are you in a position to sit back and knock a high school kid's talent? What's really on your mind? Obviously jealousy! To attack kids is just not a good way to foster a healthy sports forum. As a former Indian who hasn't lived in E.Tn for over 10 years, this is exactly why that area carries the stigma that it does. Do you have the heart to mention these types of statements to anyone (adult) face to face? Or are these types of statements what make you feel less inferior, while hiding behind your screen name? Chris is a kid who is trying to better himself while playing the game he loves. There's no need to bring race into this unless you know your OWN history!!!! Chris is only 2 generations removed from a time when his own grandfather couldn't even attend DB, or any major college because as you put it "he was black" AND THAT'S A REAL COLD HARD FACT!! So be proud of your heritage Sir, and be proud that you are of a race that has overcome the horrible past that inlcudes slavery/Jim Crow, thus allowing all to live together. But maybe you're bothered by the fact that Blacks have gained a chance at an equal playing field. Either way, YOU don't have ANYTHING to do with Chris' future, so get your only minority friend to interpret this email so that you will understand that this too is not meant to be combative. He very well may not be a D1 RB, but his 3.0 gpa will earn him something that you will NEVER be able to identify with...... A real education! Who cares if he even plays in college or the NFL, can we allow these kids to be were they are, and not where you wish you were? Best wishes to all of the student athletes from E.Tn. (Of all Races) and hopefully your talents ( scholastically or athletically) will allow you to establish yourself in a part of the US that is not so closed minded.
  8. Does anyone know about the 7 on 7 scrimmage being held this weekend between a few local schools?
  9. I wasn't aware that they had a scrimmage in the Spring. Aren't a lot of their guys in Baseball and Track? I've been hearing good things from some of the kids progress this offseason. I am excitied to see the new group.
  10. That just shows that awards don't mean anything. They are typically given because of seniority instead of true worth. Politics and nepotism are very much alive and always will be in good ole E.TN. I guess DB vs McMinn CO. would have been the same outcome if CS would have played in the 2nd half. For athletes that are good enough to play on the next level, true experts know who they are. Major publications are aware of who's doing what. But again, in the big scheme, it doesn't change the fact that football is a team sport. Jamie was a good choice for player of the year, (at least as good as any other), but CS being the 4th best back is rediculous.
  11. Seems like CS had a very productive 1st half before leaving with a ankle sprain. Does this speak to how vital CS was to DB's success, or an overall letdown from the team/coaches that couldn't get it done with a 17pt lead going into the 2nd half? Either way, Great Regular Season (10-0), hurts to see an all to familiar playoff history repeat itself for DB. Best wishes M.C.

  13. Amen, The Nation has spoken!!!!!!! Maybe the Indians can go all the way. Best of luck to both teams!!!
  14. Ok. Not suprised to get that response, considering...... Thanks anyway. I will find it from another source. Good luck to both teams.
  15. Does anyone have a link that they can post to view the streaming video mentioned earlier. Or, any link to the live radio broadcast via the web? For us Tribe fans living out of town. Thanks
