  1. apparently now we split teams up if they have a lot of coaches... I think I heard Maryville talking about moving down to 3A ball all they are goin to do is just have about 3 coaches. Sounds silly? but it's the exact polar opposite of what the publics are asking.
  2. I remember reading about Bwright on this very board, esp the day when he decided to go to BA in the 8th grade. I don't know what Middle School he went to, but I remember he chose BA over like 3 other schools so I don't think they really recruited him. I remember when BTW guard Andre Allen decided to go to BTW over virtually every city school in Memphis and a few D2 schools...the paper even listed what schools he was looking at...I won't name them though... Perhaps that is just how the cookie crumbles.
  3. Gosh I love Class A ball. I do not like where this thread is going...thank you to the individuals who emailed me asking that it be locked.
  4. he's good but Shawne Williams is the best player in the state...He is the best underclassmen in the state (perhaps).
  5. Now, you say you believe that guy who says Memphis publics recruit, would you believe a public supporter who says that some DI privates recruit? of course. I could spill the beans about some D2 schools...and if I told the story it would be amazing how odd it sounds...how stupid a coach could be
  6. I can prove allegations if you want me to...I could care less though, I don't have a problem with any school whether public, private, or D2. I know of one school, who has allowed a kid to leave their school and play at another Memphis City school without griping, only to secretly turn this school and player in to the TSSAA at the end of the year, in hopes of eliminating this team from region/ district play! I will tell you of at least 5 to 6 high profile players that I know have transferred from school to school and I am sure that a few of them have had contact with various coaches which would be a violation of TSSAA rules...if you'd like for me to tell you these, just PM me, but I am not in the business of getting kids in trouble. By the way CSense...I live in Memphis, and I believe what he is saying...you just go to some of the feeder public schools and it's basically a free for all. If you don't want to believe me that's fine, but I agree with what he is saying.
  7. I'd really like for this topic to stay serious...if you don't have anything to say, or don't feel like contributing, then please don't. Go to another topic, but I started this thread, and I would really appreciate it if we could have serious contributions please. Thank you.
  8. So when a public school gets a player that is pretty good, it's just supposed to be like that. When a private school gets a kid that excels in sports, there is a problem. You can't have your cake and eat it too...there is either a problem here, or there isn't. From the posts I have seen so far, there isn't a problem, which is fine...so don't complain about open zones for private schools...complain about their coaching, parental involvement, or facilities (which any school can amass if they choose) but don't complain about open zones.
  9. 6'8 Tavarious Payne has decided to enroll at Memphis Hamilton High School. He played last year in Washington state and really cleaned up his attitude and will now play for Anderson's Wildcats along with University of Memphis signee Shawne Williams (The nations best Small Forward). I saw Payne last saturday at my brothers D2 school and talked to him (I've known him for about 4 years). I have no problem with him going to Hamilton. I think he will be on a much better team, be with kids that he can really relate to (if nothing else in height, I think they have four 6'8 kids just on the team). He will also be closer to his house. He will probably get free transportation and possibly a free lunch. The point of this, is not to accuse Payne or Hamilton of recruiting...it is to show that the Memphis City Schools can get any player they want, and if you are going to punish private schools for open zones...perhaps you should look in the mirror and see the Memphis City Schools and what open enrollment can do. You can read about Payne on the coachT.com webpage, he's talked about on the last paragraph in the article about Shawne Williams.
  10. Was it a 1a school or some metro school where the choice of athletes are huge? Did anyone get shot, stabbed, snake bit or pistol whipped at your school? And in theses schools mentioned above as an example are they real, or just made up? Put a name to them if you can. 1a schools are small like privates. The violence usually happens in the larger, urban schools. In this respect I agree with the private schools. Larger schools have created more problems in public education than any small rural school ever has but they get the punishment. I think ego if you came to school at Coalfield you would get to play, if you wanted. It also wouldn't cost much, maybe a few socks and a pair of athletic shoes. Plus, you could wear a neat uniform. General, read his post. It was sarcastic in that with all those disadvantages why put up with the hassle of a private school? 1-No it was not a 1A school...I wasn't zoned to a 1A school, I was zoned to the a 4A school. 2-I assure you, the school is very real...if you want to cross check whichever school has won 3 state titles in the last 4 years (I'm not even going to talk about the success they have in other sports)...I'm not going to bad mouth a school, if you want to PM and I will gladly tell you. 3-I certainly agree that the small schools are probably very safe...I'm just saying, I didn't go to a school I was zoned to, and gave reasons why I didn't. 4-If you had a kid, and he wanted to play sports...would you try and put money up so that he could play and be on a team...Look at 5A state power Germantown in football...I doubt I could have played there, so I'd rather go to a school where I knew I could play...perhaps Cordova, Bartlett, or Bolton...is that wrong? To want to go to a school where you might have a chance to play?
  11. Since Ego will not read this will someone tell him about it. I didn't realize I posted anything about a team. It was about a philosophy. An eye for an eye? Does that mean since private schools are winning everything that public schools will now begin to win everything? Thanks CYJacket. At least you got it. However, I am worried about these private schools. If I ever have any kids, I guess I shouldn't consider a private education with all of those issues to deal with. An eye for an eye= Since you will be sarcastic, so will I. You can write sarcastic messages, and so shall I. You are welcome to post whatever you wish Tacoma, I enjoy your posts, but if someone resorts to sarcasm or insults (which you didn't do) then they should be prepared to get them back.
  12. After all, with the disadvantages listed above it would appear there would be no reason to send your child to a private. Then why do it when your tax dollars are making it easier to get your child and education? Cus I actually wanted to be able to play on the football and basketball teams. I wouldn't have played if I had gone to that school... Also I didn't feel like getting shot...the school is pretty bad, and my parents didn't want me to have to deal with that. I bet most of the rural 1A kids couldn't have played sports for the school I was going to go to. They won 3 titles in basketball and football over the last 4 years.
  13. Why thank you Tacoma. I guess I won't be reading any more of your posts since you have learned...good luck to you and your team...course I guess I'll know how ya'll did. An Eye for an Eye.
  14. What disadvantages do private schools have? -It cost money to go to private schools, which is something many kids can not afford. -Kids have to past tests in order to get in. We had a kid that wanted to go to my school that committed to Ole Miss his senior year for football...he was also 4-A All State and played in the TN/ KY all star game. He had to go to a public school where he guided them to the state championship, if he had passed the test, he would have gotten in and really helped us.
  15. One and done for the cowboys...sound familiar pujo? Sorry I had to. No hard feelings. Both of our teams have had their share of successes, and failures.
  16. It was obvious White Station would eventually lose a game. Did you know that no memphis team has gone undefeated since the Larry Finch Ronnie Robinson era? That is like 1971 or so (Both of them led Memphis State to the championship in 73). They barely beat Ridgeway by 2...and I saw them lose this summer to AA Raleigh Egypt. No one said they weren't unbeatable, some just didn't think they would lose to an East TN team...heck they haven't lost to one in a few years have they?
  17. can someone answer this question? What difference does it make? BCHS won this one. If you boast about your team or city, you will eventually get burned. All the Memphis boys that have been bragging the last couple of weeks would be wise to let BC enjoy this one. White Station needs to focus on their next game. Do you like your crow fried or fricasseed? It matters cus if you lose to a team in the state championship and you lose to them two other times then I wouldn't be saying that you are much better than them. Congratulations, you beat White Station...that doesn't guarantee anything. White Station might not even make it to the state championship, everyone is looking to gun them down...The state championship game will be close if these two teams play again...obviously BC can play with those guys and beat them...the same can be said for White Station as well.
  18. can someone answer this question?
  19. If Gomab had him number 1 would that make him a better player? No Would your opininon of Gomab change if he had him number one? I don't know, ask yourself that. Does it really matter in the whole scheme of things who "on paper" is number one? No Can you prove who is the best player? No Tell me the best player in the NBA. You can't Tell me the best player in college basketball. You can't People's opinions are different, Gomab might think that Jamont is more important to his team...Giles Co. is the state champions and they have other players on that team that are very good. Perhaps Gomab thinks Jamont might be a better player in the future, or he thinks Jamont is a better player now and Tyler will be a better player in the future. He isn't going to give opinions that are going to satisfy everyone for two reasons... 1- it's impossible 2- it's his opinion. I think Jamont Gordon is the best player in this state for the jr. class. The kid is phenomenal and can literally "do it all." Tyler can not pass like Jamont and there is absolutely no question about that. Tyler might be a better scorer than him, if you think the best player in the state has to be a scorer, well perhaps Tyler is your pick. I think Jamont is the best player because of his passing, and because I do not see anyone that can actually guard him. We put a 6'7 SF on him (who was invited to the Nike Camp) and he went by him time and time again.
  20. How many times has White Station beaten B.C. since the state championship last year? This was not their first meeting if I heard correctly...
  21. Even when a public school wins a championship, the next best five will be privates. I didn't realize pujo could tell the future. Please tell me my Cowboys are going to win on Saturday, and if possible a point spread would be helpful...thank you
  22. How many times did BC lose to White Station in the summer or the preseason? Did they lose at all...or are they 1-0 against this years squad ever since last years state championship.
  23. Mas- The 3 point performance is a very good point, however, He does play for White Station who never has any who consistently averages 20 points. I remember last years team had 4 or 5 guys, all averaged about 11-13 points. UT swingman Dane Bradshaw only averaged about 12 points a game and about 6 or 7 blocks, thats the reason they are so good...you don't have to beat one of their players, you have to beat about 11. If Tyler was in the offense there, I'm sure he would do well, but I also know he wouldn't average 20.
  24. Krich-you see what we have to go through. Have I called you any names like this? Haha, the majority of these individuals are grown men...I'm 19 and know not to act like that.
  25. Baldcoach, What do you estimate is the day to day expenses your school incurrs? Just from janitors salaries, to electricity, to printing paper, to supplies, to heating and air conditioning, rent etc? I had heard that my school is close to 1000 every day! No wonder we are building a new school!
