  1. Larry Largemouth - - - Super Dad and Super Fan There are four things we can be sure of in life here in Tennessee: Death, Taxes, Heat Indexes and the emergence of Larry Largemouth,,,,, Super Dad, Super Fan, and Grandstand Coach of every sports team his son plays on. To have a chance at enjoying a high school football game you must identify Super Dad so you can sit as far away from him as possible. Super Dads come in all shapes and sizes, but there is an easy way to find him. Follow the loudest voice you hear until you find a largemouth surrounded by abrasive obnoxiousness. You have just found Larry Largemouth “Super Dad and Super Fanâ€. He lives in about every community in our country and his one purpose in life is to criticize high school and youth athletic teams in general and their coaches in particular. These dads usually go into hibernation during the summer, as soon as Spring Ball is over, so as to rest their tired lungs and voices from all the critical evaluation. You see the long season takes its toll on the poor guy because this Dad involves himself in every play, and in every situation, in every game,,,,, BUT SHAZAAM,,,,, his recuperating powers are amazing and there he is rested and ready to go with visions of interceptions, fumbles and dropped passes dancing through his head. As the first game approaches, rest assured Super Dad will be ready. To be a Super Dad you do not need a license or any special training,,,,, just a five dollar ticket you can purchase at the front gate. With that five dollar ticket Super Dad now has instant authority, with full rights and privileges, to begin chastising teenage boys, your sons, and their coaches. What an absolute bargain, for just five dollars, he gets to do all that,,,,, by the way,,,,, this cost,,,,, is a heckuva lot less than the price your son, his teammates and his coaches have paid putting this team together. Make no mistake about it though,,,,, no player or coach is immune from Super Dad and there is no way Super Dad could ever be happy with the game, the players, or the coaching. No young player is as good as Super Dad was in his day,,,,, no teams are as good as the teams in Super Dad’s years,,,,, and let there be no doubt that Super Dad has forgot more about football than all those idiot coaches combined on the sidelines. AND the coaches,,,,, this is where Super Dad really goes to work and enjoys himself. All his frustrations, pet peeves, pettiness, verbal abuse and pure viciousness comes out when talking about that incompetent bunch of Boobs called coaches. It does not matter that the coaches wives and children are in hearing distance. They try to ignore Super Dad,,,,, but it still hurts. BUT wait a minute,,,,, Super Dad paid his five dollars and he believes that entitles him to make any coach and player “fair gameâ€. The stream of criticism continues the entire game and regardless of the outcome,,,,, it should have been better,,,,, and it would have been better if not for the incompetency of the coaches. AND,,,,, should our team have been on the short end of the scoreboard,,,,, that just simply proves that Super Dad was right all along and the coaches are incompetent bums and have to go. The saddest part of Super Dad’s performance is the part he saves for the kids after the game,,,,, when a young man makes a mistake in a game,,,,, and they all do,,,,, this becomes an unforgivable sin to Super Dad that takes on catastrophic proportions. He loudly challenges the boy’s skill, courage, intelligence, desire,,,,, and the coach’s stupidity such an inept individual to stay on the team, let alone play in the game. It makes no difference to Super Dad that these are young boys and their coaches simply playing a game they love to the best of their ability,,,,, nonsense,,,,, to Super Dad this high school game and season has far more meaning,,,,, in his mind it will alter the course of the world, and therefore he demands perfection. After all,,,,, Super Dad never made any mistakes,,,,,, why should high school players and their coaches be allowed to. Larry Largemouth “Super Dad, Super Fanâ€,,,,, who needs him?????
  2. Stop looking at everything through blue colored glasses. Saw it last year, you will see it this year. 7-5 last year with only 2 wins against teams with a winning record. Same personnel, same offense, but you expect different results??? Now that is dumb.
  3. C'mon people, yes there are other good backs for the blue devils. But none of them are the athlete that #4 is. He may not be the heart and soul, but he is the best athlete in blue when he has the ball in his hands. You stop #4 you stop Harriman. Especially when you face such a simplistic offense.
  4. The streak continues to 19 I'm afraid. Harriman has the athletes but IMHO, bottle their weapons up in such a simplified offense. It all comes down to #4 in blue. If he finds a way to get loose and have a big game, then the Blue Devils have a chance. #4 struggles, so do the boys in blue. I'll go with Kingston 27 Harriman 12
  5. LOL I just noticed I have a "Warn Status" Are you kidding me??? Did the coacht people write my name on the board?? GTFOH
  6. GB lost their OC from last year. Did they change the offense or are they running the same thing??
  7. How can it be "Annual" if it's the first one??? The word you are looking for is "Inaugural"

  9. Have to agree with the Jet Pride on this one: Rockwood will not be 5-5 Fri Aug. 27 Sweetwater Should be an easy win, had no problems with them last year on the road with the 3rd string QB running the show Fri Sep. 3 at Greenback D Another win, with GB losing a few of their best athletes on OFF. Fri Sep. 10 at Kingston Probably first loss of the season, Kingston's depth and speed take over in the second half. RW will have to play mistake free to have a shot in this one. Fri Sep. 17 Tellico Plains D This will be a toss up game, TP returns plenty especially at the skill positions. Probably will come down to who wins the battle up front, which both teams I believe replace quite a few in that department. I would probably give the advantage to TP. Fri Sep. 24 at Coalfield Another win for the Tigers in this one, just don't think CF can keep up for 4 qtrs. Fri Oct. 1 Grace Christian D This will be a loss for the Tigers, GC just has too many athletes on the field. GC will probably have a better athlete at 21 of the 22 positions on the field. Fri Oct. 8 Wartburg An easy win for RW with WB trying their spread attack out this year. WB doesn't have the athletes to run this offense. Plenty of INT's to be had for the RW defense in this one. Fri Oct. 15 at Midway D Midway always plays RW tough, this one being on the road will be even closer. The SOR boys will put up a good fight and be much improved from last year, but RW will win in a close game. Fri Oct. 22 Bledsoe Co. RW won in a close game last year. BC lost a 1000 yd passer and a 800 yd rusher from last year's team. RW runs away with this one in the second half. Fri Oct. 29 Harriman D This should be a good one this year. Harriman has been talked about having the best backfield in the county. All comes down to who decides to show up on that Friday night. I will give the edge to the Tigers in a home game. With all that said, take it easy on me boys. Just my opinion.
  10. Objections noted boys. Enjoy your useless banter.
  11. Title IX applies everywhere. It all depends on if the right people push it. Just because you offer it to girls doesn't guarantee participation. There actually has to be participation to count for title IX. I am in support of the co-op way of doing things. Until you can have enough interest to justify a team, which can fluctuate from year to year.
  12. Well that is a little disappointing considering that 2 of the top 7 recruits in the state are TE's. There were only 2 RB's in the top twenty.
  13. Why only 1 slot for QB's and only 1 slot for WR's??? Why zero slots for TE's???
  14. I won't disagree that politics have a way of influencing all things like this.....but the first place you need to go to with your complaints are to the coaches. If you are not nominated....there is no way of being selected. So before you question TSWA or TBCA, talk to the coach and see if he bothered to send in his kids for nominations.

  16. Incorrect.......Original rule change was not scheduled to go into effect until Jan. 1 of 2012 http://www.nfhs.org/content.aspx?id=2772&terms=baseball
  17. So the main 2 questions that will clarify the issue here are: 1) Will the current certification on bats be acceptable if they are not composite bats??? Every bat must have a visible BESR label on the bat for it to be legal with the old rule. Ball Exit Speed Ratio(I think) or 2) Will all bats used in high school contests be required to have the new certification stamp BBCOR? If the answer to the first question is YES.....Then I agree with a previous post that there needs to be a list with approved/not approved bats to clarify. If the answer to the second question is YES.......these bat companies will be salivating.
  18. http://rheaheraldnews.com/story/16537 Anyone have any inside information on why??? Who are the top candidates to be the new coach???
  19. Any news on who is interviewing/applying??? Who are the best candidates for the jobs that are open???
  20. Rockwood 14 Boyd B. 10 Here's to another great week of HS football. See yall in a few GO TIGERS!!!!!
  21. We will get there in plenty of time.....not too worried about it.....the RW faithful has outnumbered the opposing crowd the last 2 weeks.......but I understand.....semi-finals brings people outta the woodwork. One more day to another week of play-off football........can't wait. Happy Turkey Day to you and yours.
  22. Here we go again.....is there a smiley for a yawn??........(place team name here) is to big for Rockwood....(place team name here) is to fast for Rockwood.....(place team name here) defense will shut Rockwood out.....we've heard it for weeks .......now a Boyd fan questions our schedule that's rated 19 spots AHEAD (caps for emphasis) of Boyd's......gotta admit that's new.....get ready to toss the coin and line up....the scoreboard will talk in the end.........GO TIGERS!!!! One more time: I respect ANYBODY who gets this far in the playoffs. Y'all must be doing something right. Didn't say our schedule was tougher, just that yours wasn't so tough. We play in a pretty weak region, so I know that a lot of your schedule is out of your control. How have you faired against ranked opponents in higher classifications? Not being a wise-cracker, I just wanna give you a chance to brag on your team. I'm trying to figure out that if Boyd is favored, why? If RW is an underdog, why? I know Boyd's strengths and weaknesses (been to every game this year and have only missed 5 games since '97.) I've got a lot of confidence in the Bucs for the reasons listed by others. Even if we lose this one, I'm still incredibly happy for this team because of their work ethic and sportsmanship. What does Rockwood bring? Flash? Discipline? Power? How are special teams? 37421: You the only one so far that seems to have any respect for what the tigers will bring. Rockwood will bring a unified team that just plays hard nosed football for 4 quarters. There is no flash, there is a lot of discipline and power though.........Special teams have been very special at times, and not so special at other times. Many claim that the tigers cannot throw the football.....quite frankly.....didn't have to at hampton(3 RB with 100 or more yds).......they have thrown the ball very well at times, have a very capable QB, and plenty of receivers on the other end.........yes, they are a running team.......but are not one dimensional by no means Just looking forward to another week of play-off football......Turkey on Thurs, football on Friday. Can't beat that. PS....a ride to Chattanooga will seem like a dream compared to the trek we made last week.
