I thought LHS looked pretty good Wednesday night. Lots of senior leadership and a new coaching staff seem to finally have this program headed in the right direction. Seems like everyone escaped with mostly minor injuries. Another chance to get better tonight in Cookeville, and hopefully the players hearing has recovered enough from practice last night to be able to hear the play calls in the huddle. The linebackers and secondary for the Wolverines are VERY fast and athletic and the line play is as good as it's been in a LONG time. The 2 big questions I had after this scrimmage were: 1. does LHS have enough depth to make a real run? and 2.Why were there so many dumpsters all around the field? On the depth issue, I guess only time will tell, but there is a lot of talent. It only took me a few minutes of watching the scrimmage to figure out that all of those dumpsters had actually been brought by goodpasture for their fans, because goodpasture fans are trash.

What plans has coach made to fix the discipline/ attitude problems that were so evident on last year's team?

The new coach will have his hands full turning this program into one that actually plays hard and doesn't lay down when things get tough.

Really, buddy? This is kind of like getting knocked out in a fight, waking up, and telling the guy who floored you he doesn't hit very hard. Best game of the weekend, two great teams, great fans on both sides.... Don't ruin it....

First of all, let me say that I have no affiliation with either of these schools. In fact, I didn't see either of them play all season. Congrats to Union City. A state championship is something no one can ever take from you, and you should be proud of your hard work. South Pitt, nothing is as hard as finishing as a runner up in a state championship game, but someday you will realize what an accomplishment it was and how privileged you were to play in that game. Great season for both teams. Union City: I understand feeling some frustration with being disrespected throughout the week by south Pitt posters, but YOU WON. That fact alone should do all the talking that needs to be done. As an unbiased observer, some of your posters reflect poorly on your school and city. "Win like a winner, Lose like a winner." A couple of you have mentioned players being on these boards and reading these posts. Why don't you try to show them what a winner acts like by enjoying your win, and not talking trash to the team you just beat. It makes you look like you have never been there before. I certainly don't want all Union city posters to think I'm talking to them, because from what I can tell, most of you are a class act. Again, congrats to both teams, and to Union City for bringing home the gold ball.

Hey, Kirk Herbstreit, lets step back just a minute from the in depth game analysis. Have you even seen Greeneville play this season? I'm sure you haven't ,so how would you know anything about how much they want it or how long they have been preparing for this? You believe Giles is the better team? Great. Telling another team they have no chance to win makes you look like a pompous a@@ if you win, and a stupid a@@ if you lose. But don't try to pass your opinions off as fact on everyone like you are Football Moses come down from the mountain with this weekends picks on them. I'm pulling for Giles, and have been thoroughly entertained on these threads for several weeks, especially by likearock, WOMG, and Mike.... And another thing, "automatic given" is redundant. GOLDDUST doesn't have time to read more words than necessary

Agreed. I think because Tennessee traditionally hasn't as much D1 talent statewide as some of the other southeastern states, people overlook some of the really great TEAMS from Tennessee.

If you have made it to the championship game, you KNOW you have a great team. I will bet my left leg that neither one of these teams are going into this game with the attitude that "well, it's just great to be here....." BOTH teams believe they have the superior team. BOTH teams believe they can win this game. That's why they will actually go out and play the game on Saturday, and not let all of us experts just decide the outcome. If Giles wins this game, it will be because they outplayed Greeneville on the field. Simple as that.

Beech fans might want to bring their hard hats to the game... Mitchell players have a history of slinging helmets and trying to start fights on the field after losing in the playoffs.

Sorry Greeneville fans, you're probably going to spend the week talking to yourselves. I have only seen one poster from White's Creek on any threads this season. If you're lucky, BOSKI from Maplewood will stop by to drop some knowledge on you. Their D is REALLY good. Very fast, swarms to the ball. Their offense can be explosive as well, the have a couple of really good backs who are dangerous if they get outside, but they can run the middle of the field also. Best of luck, should be a good game!
