If you have ever worked in a high school you have no idea how hard it can be to get the gym for an event let alone keep switching it. Our gym dates for next year are already being reserved by sports, clubs and other groups in the school and the community. Im sure Coach Woods has tried his best and if he says he means no disrespect I believe him. im sure this is also one of Coach woods fundraisers for the upcoming season and more than likely like many High Schools does not get a budget from the school itself so every penny counts Also not every wrestler in the state wrestles freestyle and Greco, so this gives those an opportunity to compete. Im sure if a wrestler wrestles freestyle and greco he is not going to miss the state meet for harpeth. I do not believe this tournament will draw kids away from the state meet. im sure a wrestler who wrestles freestyle would rather say he was a state champ than the harpeth champ. in the future i would like to see more kids doing freestyle and greco and see it grow. Hopefully next year there wont be any scheduling conflicts.

Tonight is the first night for fight nights at 630 st Wilson Central HS. Tomorrow blackman starts theirs at 5 pm Open to anyone and all ages.

As far as the 115# weight class. First it was hard for the region dual team coaches to pick a team with no regional. They went by past results the best they could. Now the beech kid lost to dooley at state . Henderson from Siegel who was picked for the region 4 team pinned dooley in the duals. So obviously both kids are tough and is why both kids are on the team going to iowa.

First off lets remember that these are just kids who are not even in high school. And instead of pointing fingers with the we are better than you attitude or tearing down other areas and regions lets look at it that wrestling in TN as a WHOLE is getting a whole lot better. I have only been in TN for 6 1/2 years and have witnessed the wrestling in TN improve so much in that short period of time . And its because of the youth movement in Tn has taken great strides. More Clubs, quality Coaches and opportunities is the reason and a lot of hard work. I was in Michigan before and Coached the team that went to fargo from 1996- 2002 and back then if one of our kids pulled a kid from TN it usually wasnt a tough match (not saying there werent any tough kids back then though from tn) But now Tn kids are not only going to more national and out of state events they are competing at a very high level and placing and doing very well at these. I think more kids are being looked at and going to college to wrestle as well. So im just suggesting intead of trying to tear each other down lets keep moving forward and work together to make Tn a power in wrestling.

only if they are wrestling on the middle school team. if they decide to wrestle AAU and not for thier school they can compete but if they are competing for thier school team they cannot. Schools in the TMSAA have the same rule.

Metro does not allow AAU Clubs in thier schools. kids that want to wrestle from metro have to go to other clubs near them.

I know wilson centrals, blackmans and beech is Free and probably clarksvilles too. this is just mat time for wrestlers. programs trying to get wrestlers better no matter where they are from. The only thing it costs is a little bit of your time and some sweat there were times last off season where there were up to 60+ kids at some of these with many state placers, champs, qualifiers and many other tough kids of all ages. its an awesome sight to see

The note said scabies with possible or slight impetego. The note was done the day before. Per the note you can wrestle 24 hours after treatment starts with scabies but with impetegol you have to be treated for 72 hours. If the dr didint know if it was impetego they shouldnt have written that down. and I've seen this boy for the past 4 years and I know its psoriasis and its a chronic condition and that is not contagious . I feel bad for him.

Friday starts at 6. 2 rounds of championships ( round of 16 and 8) will wrestle some concelation matches only if they are in danger of the 5 match rule Saturday wrestling starts at 10 am

Thursday was the day that was best for all of the coaches to be in attendance. After seeding meeting there will be no changing of weight classes. they should be released ASAP after the seeding meeting. If not I will post the top 4 seeds on here tonight after the seeding meeting

I agree, Beech will be the team to beat next year. Hard to come back with 6-7 starters graduating. Jeffs doing a great job over there.

. its live matches so if both partners want to wrestle those styles they could. theres no rule on what style you want to wrestle but there isnt any instruction at these.

on Mondays starting march 9th thru the end of july there will be open mats at Wilson central that will be all live matches, get in as many matches as you want. they will start at 6:30 pm Other schools that are going to do the same thing post your day and times here so we can all start making plans for the off season.

When i forfieted him I knew he was hurting and had decided not to wrestle but he should have told a Coach so it could have been taken care of before that point.
